Imagination Thursday

I just started my Russian visa application! I can't finish it because I don't have my passport information, but it is started and saved. That is my trip task for this month. In honor of Day After Procrastination Day, I have started it. I will get the needed info tonight!

What a thing to be able to say, Elizabeth - "My Russian Visa" - when we were young, no one could have IMAGINED we could be saying that someday! You'll get photos and make memories no one could have IMAGINED either.

OKay, I believe whoever thought up that name for a menu has had few life experiences! It's IMAGINATIVE, but, having been imagined, then requires editing!

HRH swung through with pizza because by the time he called, dd was home sick and he insisted on bringing her a milkshake to soothe her throat. I said the pizza was not what we should be eating, and he said he'd had a hard day too and he was taking care of attitude, not hunger. Made sense to me and I had a slice. That was breakfast way past lunchtime. Today is NOT a common sense day.

What was that Kathryn was imagining? Getting some work done... ...? I've heard of that.

My imagination is working overtime today. I picked up a big piece of bark and imagined a light house - so that is what I am carving. I've finished the other house except for the bell that I have to carve out of palo verde. I have enough of that around so I can find one the right size.

DH is doing better. He didn't take any pain nor OTC meds this morning so is hurting now at lunch time. I try to tell him he can't just quit pain meds. His back is still healing.

Time to go make lunch. Toasted cheese and ham sammies with chocolate cake for desert. YUM-O!!

Hmm.... I think I need to imagine getting housework done too. The house is messy and I feel like I don't know where to start.

As the remodeling project has moved into the MBR, dh and I have moved out of our bedroom, putting furniture from the MBR into dd13's room (bed + side table), comp. room (dresser + side table), living room (cedar chest), and some stuff into the play room, including a temporary rod with all our closet stuff, baskets from the closet, and under the bed boxes. As an explanatory note, d13 doesn't sleep in her room; she sleeps in dd16's room where there is a futon bed, a twin bed, and lots of space. However, I'm now feeling a bit claustrophobic with what feels like overcrowded rooms now. The fact that our new stove is still sitting in the comp. room waiting to be installed doesn't help either. . ..The workers have pulled up the carpet in the MBR and the wood floor underneath is gorgeous and in good shape! We'll have a new floor, new paint on the walls, new all wood trim - and we may go ahead and replace the windows too. We're wanting to eventually do that for the entire house. These are likely the original windows, so 60 years old. The room wasn't ugly before, but the facelift will make it quite a pretty little bedroom.

I sure don't need to imagine summer weather. It is 84.7 and sunny here, the 3rd day in a row we've gotten up into the 80s. I'm loving it! However, we are a little concerned about our flowers and trees, esp. our Japanese Maple tree, which are all blooming and budding. Our last freeze date is Memorial Day weekend, and we're assuming this won't last. We're going to cool down tomorrow into the 70s - and then down into the 60s and even the fifties next week. Even fifties is still above normal for us, but we have been severely spoiled this month.

I like my weekly check ins here, although I do miss out during the week. I hope dd13 is OK, Harriet. Would love to see MT's carvings - maybe there are photos on your blog? Many other thoughts and comments for all of you!

Dd13 was invited to be part of her school's musical's costume crew after she did some volunteer work for the costume group; she made a red sequin dress and a bunch of skirts. This means she is at rehearsals 6-10 many evenings this week.

Full weekend ahead: Ds is playing his solo at the state solo/ensemble festival at 10:30 a.m. in a neighboring village. Then, there is small group at 5 pm. We are not hosting. Then, dd13's band has a concert. She needs to be at the site at 6:30. Sunday is church and then ds has his concert at 3 pm. This weekend is the spring showcase of all the high school (all levels + all public high schools) and middle school (8th grades) bands.

OK, I'm going to get dinner going. I hope to eat early, before dd13 heads off to rehearsal.

Hello dear Ladies,

It's still raining here. We have buckets of it coming down followed by a break.

Yesterday was spent going to chiropractor, running errands and lunch at an old fashioned diner.

My back is messed up, that is what is causing my legs to hurt so much and have to go to chiropractor tomorrow too. Gave me some stretches and exercises to do which I've been doing too. And I've been avoiding pain meds as it tears up my stomach. I did find some lidoderm patches and used one, it did take the edge off of the pain.

I enjoyed going to the diner, they had a buffet of good food at a low price. Lots of blue collars workers there for lunch. The owner came out and thanked everyone for coming in.

Waving to all, I do read what all of you are doing and pray for all those that need them.

Crocheting on a hat that did not turn out and the yarn had flaws so trashed that project.
Started another one.

It's a quiet day here in our little Village, isn't it! I imagine my house as neat and clean when my dson and his family get here in two weeks, so I'm working towards that goal to make it so.

Lilac is right....there is nothing better than playing and interacting with youngsters. They have such good imaginations!

Harriet, I'm glad the dentist was able to help ddad. Is dd13 taking antibiotics? Sometimes steroids are prescribed along with them?

Helia, nice to see you here. This is the extra busy time of year for dkids in school isn't it!

Oops..this post sat here while we ate supper and fed the ddogs. Still need to wash up dishes.

There's many people I've been thinking about today. Good thoughts sent out to all!

I can post again because I got the upstairs dusted and vacuumed. I did that while dh was off picking up his dinner. My dinner was just a frozen lasagna.

This afternoon was successful at the seniors' apartment building. The service was nice and I had a chance to visit with some people. When I got home, dh helped me prep 5 services from my friend's church and I burned one to a CD as an audio CD so my senior friend, who only has a very old Discman, can listen to it. She loves this minister and is unable to get to church these days so it will do her good to attend this way. I'm going to take over an old mp3 player of dh's and see if she can use that. It is a lot quicker for me to load services onto it and cheaper in the long run since blank CDs cost 50 cents each when you buy them in bulk (in Canada there is a large tax that turns the money over to the recording industry to pay out as royalties.)

Wow, helia, I didn't realize your redo would be so extensive - I hope all 5 of you love the results! The crowding will not last forever!

Flawed yarn, Nancy? Bummer. Nothing to do but toss. Well, children's crafts, but you probably don't need it for that.

((Sadie)) I'm so glad you got to a chiropractor who has some help for you. Also, notice the time of year and the rapid change in need for hydration - water, water, water, okay?

Happy to hear Mr. Emptynester is feeling that much better.

Dd13 is running a fever now. (I told dr she had suspected a fever but we'd never caught it) How can that be allergy, or can it? HRH is saying this doesn't add up and doesn't want her on the steroid because he thinks it is now more likely viral and misdiagnosed. Of course, now the dr's office is closed.

Also, now I have the fun of thinking that the whole household has been exposed, plus I've twice sent her back into the school since then. And, the last time I caught what she had when it began as tonsilitis, I ended up with pneumonia within weeks. I'm just frustrated. I'll get over it. I think I took her to the doctor one day too early, while her system was still successfully fighting it off.

Harriet, the remodel project is mainly the MBR bath and main bath, which are right next to each other. Since it involves removing the MBR sink, which used to be in our bedroom, it also involves the floors since a patch of floor is revealed by removing the sink. We're thrilled with the wood floor already there! It also involves reconstructing the wall between the MBR and the MBR bath, thus necessitating paint in the room. . . We knew all this beforehand. The window decision is an add on. Our remodel projects always seem to grow as they progress . .. . Is this normal? ((HUGS)) to dd13.
