Sunday the First Day of April

Just popping in to ay hello. Nothing to report, really. This morning was church. We've been watching movies on tv. Nothing exciting. We did take a break to go out for a bike ride. I had a couple prayer requests to pass along, and had to call a number of people because noone was home. I did get my quilt out and spread it out on the table to begin the marking, but I seem to have no ambition to do anything. Oh, I did one load of sheets and towels but that hardly made a dent in the mountain. I guess after the past 2 busy days we just needed a quiet one.

Well, I obviously fell by the wayside. I got back around 2:30 from seeing the house, took a nap with ddogs, and just now woke up.

Anyway, I need to get busy again - will fix up an iced coffee and get rolling:
-reboot laundry
-clear kitchen table (not done before we left)
-empty the dishwasher, which I ran earlier

I'm in a quandary about the house - we apparently selected the windows that have the window dividers that split the windows into many "panes" and I hate them! Got back home and realized that we took all the dividers out of the windows here and I love the open look. What were we thinking? I seriously hate this.

We found earlier that the transom we wanted over the bkfast room windows didn't get written into the addendum; I've reconciled myself to not having it. I don't know if I'd get used to these traditional style windows - they feel so fussy!

Harmony, I am very slow in getting started right now and don't have much ambition. That nap left me a slug.

Yikes! What is going on with this weather? Awhile ago it was 97, it's now down to 92. The wind is blowing like crazy and we are suppose to have a front come thru and will be in the 60's the next 3 days.

Yesterday I walked and mowed both yards.

Yesterday was dgs 18th birthday. Dd1 had planned to get pizza and pasta and his gf and his friend were to come over to celebrate, eat, watch basketball and play games. The girl friend was sick and the friend had something come up. Dd1 called to see if we could come over for dessert and to play games. She called dd2 and asked them also. They were in the middle of cleaning their garage. But when family calls, you go. Dd1, dsonil and dgs18 went out to eat. Later dd1 was irritated at herself that she didn't just do the pizza and pasta for all of us. But she just panicked when the original plans fell thru. Dd2 and her family hadn't eaten, so they picked up pizza and brought for their supper and anyone else who wanted some. It ended up being such a nice evening. Dgs18 loves to play games. Today on his facebook page, he commented that yesterdays plans didn't go as expected but that he had had quality family time and really enjoyed it. He has A spergers which is a form of autism. He is so smart and well liked, he just doesn't have the social skills that he needs.

I'm trying to catch up on laundry, again.

Finally done with those three. I am moving slowly today. I also fed the ddogs, and I need to freshen up their water.

-refill meds containers
-upstairs make the bed
-straighten the master bathroom

I am so sick. I went back to bed and awakened with a raw throat. Got myself together and did make the run to the vitamin store, an errand that has been waiting for a week. Dd felt good and talked me into a walk through Tarjay foods probably looking like a zombie, then to Wendy for the most sensible fast choices for a meal at home for the family while I collaped. Watched MASH reruns and ate - getting a little more strength but still drab.

Twins I'm sorry you missed a choice you'd rather have had. Some visitors will look at the windows (I believe you'd call the dividers mullions) and be so impressed that you have that kind. Still, it may take a little getting used to.

(((Twins))) I know how aggravating that can be to have something like that nagging at you, that you think you're never going to really like. Maybe the windows will grow on you. Or maybe you can change them out later, if they're really driving you crazy.

Lilac -- I am so glad to hear "Plan B" worked out so well for your dgs's birthday!

Oh, good there's lucylee back, so I can nap, knowing that if the boards actually require someone as ditzy as I've been this a.m., she can take over.,

Hmmm... I resemble that remark...
Actually, I think I have definitely earned the right to be ditzy after having someone in the hospital for almost 5 weeks. Whew. Dfil for three weeks exactly, and on the day he passed away, my ddad went in for almost two weeks. It will be two weeks Tuesday, but we think/hope he is coming home tomorrow. He is doing much better, though still very weak. But that probably comes from two weeks of bedrest & hospital food. No fever since mid-week, and whatever they are giving him for stomach distress seems to be working.

Not much else to report here, either. We went to church this morning... napped & read the paper all afternoon... listened to Earl Scruggs' funeral service live on WSM radio... visited dmil... visited daunts in nursing home... talked to dmom on phone... ate supper. I washed sheets, and need to get them back on the bed now. I have dh's jeans in the washer now.
Will probably go to the hospital in a bit to hand-deliver a thank-you note to ICU nurses. I got all the others in the mail this weekend. Need to grade more papers -- got a lot done yesterday while sitting w/ddad @ hospital, but not finished by a long shot.

((lucylee)) I have been thinking about you. Yes for your ddad being in a hospital bed and hospital food isn't the best strength builder.

They wanted me to get up and move around to build up strength but the IVs are short tubing and the oxygen was short. Once they put an extension on the oxygen I could put the IV on battery power and move around the room.

One time today when I came in I took off my bottle oxygen and for some reason didn't put on my concentrator oxygen. It was about 1 1/2 hours later I discovered it. I wasn't out of breath I just noticed I didn't have the tubing to move when I changed locations. So there is hope to go off oxygen.

MT how are you moving after all the yard work? What day does MR MT have is angio?

We are staying at a really nice hotel in Toronto, the Bond Place Hotel. Great value for the money. I'm hoping the bed is a good as the rest of the room. Very European (that's a nice way of saying small room but excellent use of space!) We are right in the thick of things which is also very nice. Our nighttime view of the city is stunning.

The drive down took only 4 hours because of no stops. We gassed up before we left and dh drove the whole way because he was up until midnight last night finishing his project. I worked on my exegesis for my service next week. And listened to my friend's service today.

Our service went really well this morning and we got a lot of good feedback on the anthem.

We had a lovely dinner with my nephew. Haven't seen him for 3 years.

Thank you, Indiana! I've been thinking of you, too! I hope you can say good-bye to the oxygen soon! My dgm was on oxygen for a long while. It must make you feel so confined, having to be attached to something all the time like that. Of course, breathing easier IS a very good thing, so I guess the pros do outweigh the cons.

Ddad has been off all tubes, IV's, etc. since at least Saturday morning. He is able to get himself to the restroom, shower unassisted, etc. It's just that EVERYTHING leaves him exhausted. Use the restroom, take a nap. Shower, take a nap. Eat a little bit, take a nap. But he's a lot better than he was two weeks ago, and doctor told him he saw no reason he couldn't go w/church on mission trip to OKay's part of the country in June. So that made him feel LOTS better.

I have a third load of laundry in the washer.
Went to hospital to deliver note, no one in ICU, none of those nurses working tonight.
I left the thank-you note w/nurse @ regular nurses' desk. * sigh * Probably a dumb thing to do -- I hope it doesn't get lost in a pile of stuff and never seen by the ones who should receive it. Probably should have mailed it. But I was thinking, who knows when they WILL have someone in ICU again, so it's just a toss of the dice as to when the "right" nurses will be in, anyway. (It's a very small hospital.)
