Today and tomorrow I will travel 4 hours each way to spend some time with DSon & family. Talking on the phone is fine. Seeing almost daily pictures of DGS5 & DGD1 is fine. However there is nothing like seeing them run out their front door when I pull into the driveway and receiving the first of super duper tight hugs to make the effort of setting aside my "normal" doings and going to see them worth it.

I'm planning to stop on the way there to try and find a particular pair of boots. My most-favorite-boots-in-the-whole-world had to be throw away last week because they were soooo worn out. I'm now wearing the previously-favorite-boots-in-the-whole-world that needs to be thrown out too, but no matter how worn out they are......they are just too comfortable to give up until I can find a replacement. I've tried to wear the "in style" boots (pointed toe and/or square toe) but they are just gathering dust in the closet. I have decided to ignore the "in" style and wear what works for me.

Plans for spending time together with DGS5 & DGD1 include -
** baking cookies (I'm taking some home made dough with me to speed up the process and eliminate making such a big mess)
** Planting flowers (we will plant the ones already blooming to get instant success for them to see)
** Planting vegetables (not a "real" vegetable garden but we plant a few seeds of various plants so DGS5 can have that experience)
** going to see a movie with DGS5 (his idea)
** going on an adventure (walk)
** lots of snuggle and tickle time

LO won't be going with me because they have a new dog (german shepherd) that is in intensive training. To keep everyone safe, they decided we should give the new dog time to get "broke in" before exposing him to the wild & rambunctious ways of DGS5 and LO when they are together.

Okay, enjoy your time with your dson and family. Did they end up moving?

Last Monday my dgd15 who had been getting treated badly for 3 months by my other dgd15, texted her cousin and told her she was sorry for whatever part she had in their problem, that she loved and missed her. That broke the ice and the cold war is over. Finally! Anyway dgd15 who apologized first is the cheerleader. They were starting practice that evening for tryouts for next year. She encouraged her cousin to do this. They also invited the friend who had caused their rift. Long story short, tryouts were last night and all 3 girls made it. Dgd15 who had cheered this year made varsity and the other 2 made JV. Dgd15 really wanted her cousin to make it because she realizes how much it has helped her. It has built her confidence, motivated her to keep her grades up, plus be involved in and excel in forensics. Dd1 is the mother of dgd15 who needs the motivation. Last week when her dd and the friend decided to tryout, dd1 went and bought what they call S pandex for them to practice in. Right now the friend is having problems at home. On Sunday dgd15 told her mom that her and the friend were partners in tryouts and needed matching shirts, shorts and hair bows. No local sporting goods stores were open so dd1 bought t-shirts, created an emblem to iron on and found the necessary hair bow. Yesterday during her 30 minute lunch she went to 2 sporting good stores and bought 3 pair of white shorts, in 3 sizes and then I picked them up and took them to her house, so that the girls could get ready for tryouts. They had 1 1/2 hours to practice before tryouts began. Tryouts were over at 7 and the girls were to go back at 8 to see who had made it and have a short meeting. Dgs8 had his C ub S cout boxcar derby last night. I was there with dd2 and her family. Later dd1 came. All 3 of us were a nervous wreck. I just kept thinking that what if the friend made cheerleader and dgd15 didn't, after dd1 went to the trouble and expense for the friend. Thankfully they all made it. The high school has about 2000 students, so there are a lot girls trying out and a small amount getting the spots. I will be spending a lot time at sporting events next school year as I support both dgds.

Last night it rained almost a full inch. Dsonilaw is able to get home earlier most days, since he now has grass for the cows, instead of having to feed them 100% of the time.

I have a noon hair appointment. Those 4 weeks sure fly by.

Today my bs it’s better yea I get breakfast. Today I need to get the lawn mowed as I did not get to that yesterday I'll be counting that for exercise too. Trash is out to the curb.

Yesterday was a full day. The younger four grand kids were here. H. wanted help with updating one of his resumes’ and I had lunch going and cookies in the oven and could not do it then.
Last night h. grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for our dinner two of the grand kids were still here ate with us.

#2 dgd likes her new school and has more friends there than she had here so she is happier. dgd#3 "helped" dgd#2 make a cake for dson's wife's birthday. I frosted it and dgd#2 figured out how to put the name on it with sprinkles.

#1 dgd and I were working on a new way to start crochet round projects so they don't have a hole in the middle. dgd#3 likes to walk with me around the block with her doll in the doll stroller. I took dgd#2 & dgson on a walk to see the baby goats that was a hit!

I wanted to go to that concert at a church we used to go to but for got all about it
after the grand kids left at seven last night.

dgson said he only fell 3 times skiing so he is doing better. He went on a hill that is a bit more challenging on Sun.

Okay have a wonderful time and good luck on the boots.

Harriet, yes I drove myself to ER, pharmacy, Burger King and back to pharmacy. This is too much information I'm sure but I wore clogs so the blood would fill my shoe and not leave a trail of blood.

Lilac that is wonderful news about your dgds and their friend.

I'm puttering today. My INR was 5.3 in ER yesterday. Too thin I should be 2.5. I didn't take coumadin last nigh and it is 6.8 today. Figure that one out. It should have been less than the 5.3. I'm going to eat extra broccoli salad today. I retest on Thursday.

Good morning!

OKay, have a safe trip & enjoy your dgcs (and the new puppy).

Lilac, congratulations to your dgds & their friend. Glad their disagreement is over. Fifteen is a hard age, especially for girls, I think. Wouldn't want to go back there for ANYTHING!!!

The cold front came through, so we are back to near normal April temps. Rain is expected tonight & tomorrow.

Yay for better bs, Nancy. Sounds like a good day with your dgc's.

Indiana, you are one brave lady! My hat is off to you.

Oh I didn't say how gorgeous it is today. The high will be 80 and tomorrow 60. The moon was in the western sky when we sent out this morning and it was such a pretty yellow/gold color.

Our floor tech did a great job on my carpets and bathroom floor. As it dried yesterday it came back. He was back today and will come back tomorrow.

Nancy you are right you had a full day.

Kally we may get a little rain. The chance of it is so low though.

Winter's Last Hurrah

Post by Elizabeth »

It's snowing out there! BRRR! I did not get everything on my list done last night. I bought the regular shoes, but the place to buy walking shoes was closed. I thought they were open until 6 and it was 5:30. I put the meat out to thaw, but did not put away laundry. I did not eat cereal, I got a sandwich at Dions instead.

Tonight is Girls' Night Out, so I will be eating Chinese and going to Chuck E Cheese. We will have to leave early so I can pick up stuff for DD10 at XDH's house and water the dog there. (He has an auto feeder so we don't have to worry about that). Poor puppy was left behind when they went to Alabama and now will be left while DD is with me and XDH is out of town. I also need to remember to leave the child support check. I will try to cook the pork chops and put away some laundry, but may run out of time. Tonight will be rather frantic.

Indiana, are you still doing your own blood testing? I think Sunny's dh had the same problem, them not being able to get blood stopped after he fell. Sometimes I wonder about those meds.

Harriet, I'm glad to read your family is helping out. Trying to wrap my brain around the thought that potatoes would help me...I'm wondering how? Are we talking boiled or baked with the skins? I do know with all the company here I had more white buns/rolls than usual, noodles also. We try to stick with whole grains most of the time, but company doesn't like that sometimes. I'm also wondering if our trips to beach left me a little dehydrated...I had lots of water along, but getting it out, bottles or pouring into cup was always difficult with winds whipping around anything out in the open, spreading rubbish around...that I didn't do it as often as I should have.

OKay, wishing you a wonderful safe trip and good luck finding just the right boots.

Yesterday I finally gave up and took some pain killers. Laying quietly with no pain usually does the trick because it stops the cramping from pain. Then I have a day's recovery from the med. I am still a bit foggy today, but much better.

I started in today where I left off yesterday. Folded all those towels and put away. Finished most of the stuff from my desk. I'm not 100% yet and feel a nap, however I must be careful how much time I spend in bed as my back is already screaming I've been on it too much. Sigh...slow and steady I'll get better.

DH reminds me I had a handful of peanuts Sunday afternoon. They hadn't been bothering me. I also had been eating blackberry preserves (seeds). Back to a stricter diet for me now.
