Harmony, everyone is different, but I was responding to your statement yesterday of, " I kept doing things to fix, but I have a situation where too much fiber is as bad as too little. ". This (exact words, believe me) is when potatoes help HRH, according to him and according to his dr.(s). Because they are a soothing food with a modest amount of fiber, not asking the body to digest meats/cheeses but also not asking the body to go the other way with an onslaught of fiber. For instance, many folks would tell HRH that if he's not feeling well just have juice or fruits, but, for him, he knows from bitter experience that that can cause as much trouble as a day without fiber could cause. When he really feels badly, he will make up "stewed potatoes" with butter (which Indiana has asked me about before, lol, but I think you know it). Or, he will have either have a little sour cream or butter on a big baked potato with perhaps some bell pepper on it, or onion. He'll let this be a whole meal to give his system a break to get over the troubles.

I can go over to fruits only, or fruits with light veggies when my system's not right, but if HRH did that it would be no help at all.

I took a Nyquil last evening and slept. I felt good this a.m., again, until I coughed. When I start I can't stop and it is murder. But maybe just maybe things are changing for the better. I lay in the sun just in case that will do me good.

Had a phone call from dcousinMary and we talked about lots of dead relatives, all good conversation. I was determined to be able to talk to her, so I was popping Hall's cough drops. But then had late breakfast and a Dayquil with it and that seems to have quieted the cough temporarily. I have serious prescription cough med in the cabinet, just don't want to take it. I can't afford to fall asleep and not be on my game.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Sending Healing hugs to (((Harriet, Indiana, Harmony))) and anyone else that needs them.

We have sunshine and rain, yes both at the same time. The rain was just droplets which didn't stop me from sitting on the porch for twenty minutes to get some sun. It's a bit cooler today, I think it is 70 degrees now at noon.

Chiropractor mentioned that back pain can zap energy. I can feel myself gaining a bit more gumption each day but still there comes a time in late afternoon when that draining type of exhaustion hit.

I've been faithfully doing my exercises each day for awhile now and can feel the difference. I also lost one pound. :D :D

I haven't been tracking my eating to much, just making choices each meal, eliminating sugar, keeping to low carb. I ate very little sugar, but stopped putting it on my morning oatmeal all together. I do put cinnamon in it.

Need to finish up taxes. I have procrastinated too much this year. Have one son's almost done. All of DH's to do and then usually oldest son asks me to do his at the very last minute  I usually try to accomodate him, but maybe this year I will file an extension for him, will have to see how it goes.

Going to alternate desk work with housework this afternoon. That should help my back.

Have a wonderful day all!

Hi all. Tracking my time yesterday was good information. I'm definitely a morning person and am much more efficient with tasks in the am. I could see how late afternoon I was taking much longer to do anything. But then I seem to get a second wind about 7-8pm and worked 2 more hours on a desk project. All good info for planning my days more realistically based on my circadian rhythms.

Working on Easter service prep today. I write the prayers and pick a special reading for our 3 services on Easter and I still can't seem to settle on the reading selection. Gotta get it done so I can send to minister for approval, and then to the 2 other readers. And I want to check my outfit for Sunday and possibly go shopping for a new one. I'll see how the week progresses.

Saying hi to Sadie, Indiana, Harriet, Harmony, Elizabeth, Kally, Nancy, Okay and Lilac and anyone else posting today.

Back from errands store run, it was picked over at the store and busy with folks getting Easter prep. items. h. got Rx refilled still waiting on mine.

Lovely weather I did get a walk in and felt better after doing that this morning yea! 8-) Had h. drop me off by the goats to walk home and it's a good mile so happy to enjoy sunshine while I did that. Got the mowing done this morning.

Dropped off some donations by the church on the way home.
Mailed off e-mail to dsis today.
Tackled a difficult converstation this a.m. glad I did and that was productive and cleared the air freeing me up from worry the rest of the day about that.

My gpa used to eat corn bread and milk for dinner, some days he would have a dill pickle and it helped he had gall bladder probs. We try to only have meat once a day here. Wondering what sweep potatoes would do for Harriet's hubby and others?

Quick check in. Long day. Exhausted again.

*Volunteering went well.
* Had a quick lunch at home.
* Headed back to hospital with lady from church, check up after breaking stuff in a bad fall 6 weeks ago.
* Met up with ds for a quick visit while there. (He then went to see her for a quick visit.)
* Got the credit card statements for the past 2 months reconciled.
* Did a quick grocery and pain killer run.
* Came home and took pain killers myself for awful headache.
* Dh had another person over from church who needed computer help.
* Dh picked up pizza for dinner and we watched Midnight in Paris

He's watching another movie. My headache is coming back so I'm having decaf tea and dark chocolate in an attempt to turn it away. At least my lunch for tomorrow has been cancelled.

Nothing much is going on with me today. Just wanted to stop in and say hi to everyone.

Was hoping to read that Harriet and Harmony were feeling better. Can't really recommend anything different for either of you that hasn't been suggested.

Indiana, I hope your inr comes down without any more problems. It sure is a tricky med isn't it?!! Dh had his tested today and it was 3.0. His dose is 7.5mg; the nurse said to take 1/2 pill Tuesdays and normal dose the rest of the week. He's to get retested on the 13th. I think we need to eat more greens, maybe 3-4 times a week.

OKay, scary weather -- stay safe!! Hope you have a good trip also! ((Hug)) those dgkids tight!

Talked to my dcousin this afternoon. They are back in VA to do some yardwork and get ready to close that house for the summer. They will be leaving for AK next week.

Sadie, nice to hear the exercises helping your back getting better and you're losing weight...a double plus!

Kathryn, you've had a few busy days already...hope your headache doesn't last!

Lilac, so glad to hear your dgds have made up. It's true, sometimes and mid=teen years can be hard ones.

Nancy, good to read your b.s. was down. It's so nice that you get to spend a lot of time with your dgkids.

Hi to Kally, Sherinjoy and Elizabeth!

Cowinkie and lucylee - when is spring break? Have you already had it and I missed seeing that?

Kathryn, what pain reliever do you take? Hope you feel better. HRH has paced around this evening trying to decide which to take for a sore hip.

:?: HRH suspects some pain relievers of making ears ring - anyone know about that?

Good job on donations, Nancy. I need to get busy on mine. It's white potatoes that HRH likes to eat when his system is acting up. Actually, he's never had a sweet potato in his life, I don't think.

sherinjoy, perhaps you are a person who'd benefit from afternoon power naps of 20 minutes or so.

So glad you are healing, Sadie. Maybe I should mention afternoon power naps for you, too.

I'm staying ahead of coughing fits with Dayquil and evening Nyquil and cough drops. Also of course I'm on the inhaler, so that should (I think?) keep things from going from bad to worse. Hopeful, hopeful.

Harriet, HRH is correct about the ear ringing/medication connection. I have it from a prescription anti-inflammatory I take daily. But it also can be from aspirin or ibuprofen. Here's a brief quote from a med. site I googled:"Most commonly, ringing in the ears is linked to the medications aspirin and ibuprofen; other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) may create the problem too. A common side effect of aspirin overdose is tinnitus, but the condition can occur even when aspirin or ibuprofen are taken in lower and safer amounts." Google ear ringing and pain med and you will come up with several sites. Although I have only heard of it from long term use, not just occasional use.

Thanks for the nap suggestion. I do usually take naps in the afternoon, but I'm trying to see if I can get through a day without one and go to bed earlier.
