LOL bittersweet! Unbelievable to have snow this late in the year.

Kathryn, your new toaster oven must be huge! I could never fit in my little one what you get in yours!

I've been out in the garden picking broccoli. I've been bringing in broccoli almost every other day. I have a bunch in the freezer. The bean plants are up about 6 inches and new broccoli plants are tiny but thriving. Tomatoes are looking good and peppers also. The zucchini is starting to vine. When all this grows I don't know how I'll get into the garden to pick. My arms aren't long enough, but I'm not complaining. I guess the soil amendments I used are really helping.

It rained last evening, about midnight, a short heavy couple of downpours. What a blessing.

I'm feeling a bit peaked today. Fell asleep on the couch last evening and slept like a dead alligator. (That would be like a log, right?) Got up this AM went to bed and slept 2 1/2 hours more. Yikes. But I don't feel 100% yet, have rumblings inside I don't like. Man, I don't want this to start again.

If I'm feeling well enough, I must call the gal in charge and see if she has enough people fixing the communion trays for the 2 Good Friday services. She had planned on doing it this evening. DFamily2 is coming in tonight late and staying through Sunday. Except for getting some groceries I am as ready as I need to be.

Good morning! I just lost a post, durnit! Last night we ate at Arby's and went to Girl Scouts. I forgot to tell them no cheese, so I didn't get as much to eat as I should have. I took copious notes at GS for XDH. When we got home I had to get DD10 shampooed and bathed. Not a trivial process because of her broken wrist and cast that goes above her elbow. It took an hour. Needless to say, I did not update Quicken or put away my laundry. I am living out of a laundry basket this week. I did get DD's lunch assembled. I have one more night with her then I can return to my usual schedule, I am so behind! I don't see how XDH does it. Today was pajama day for her class, because they have finished testing and earned sufficient dragon tickets (for good behavior). Both my coworkers may be taking off tomorrow. I can not because I am saving my vacation up for my cruise in July. At payroll, I discovered another flowchart I need to do.

I have loaded 3 wheelbarrow loads of cholla into the trailer. Then I delivered 2 rocks to neighbor and took a ride around the park. There is an Easter cactus that must have had at least 100 blooms. They only bloom for one day so I missed it but even the spent buds are pretty. The blooms are about 6 - 8 inches across and white with bright yellow stamens and dark pink outer petals. Another neighbor had one with 21 blooms.

I'm resting now as I have done all I can on the cholla with the tools in the back of the pickup. DH is still getting groceries after his breakfast.

Next up is to email picture of dfriend's cactus blooms to her - they have left for the summer and she has never seen it bloom.

PS: It is warm enough that I am in shorts and tank top. Working on that Vitamin D!!

Harmony I can't get *all* those things in at the same time but I can get in two loaf pans or 2 small muffin tins. Or 2 8" square pans. But, yes, it is large, it will cook a 5lb chicken on the rotisserie or an 8lb roast in a pan.

I'm done set up at the church (for now, I'll go early and heat up water for the foot washing) and I picked up the mail on the way home so that has been processed. Made myself a healthy lunch and will wash up the dishes in a moment.

Dh and I leave for his cardiologist appointment in a 30 minutes.

This morning I hauled recycling to the center. Then I hauled all the broke down boxes to the other house. It was only 58 degrees in the house, so I started the pellet stove. That way the couple can see it when they look at the house this afternoon. Dhs new glasses are in and he is anxious to get them. I called to let him know they were in and ask him if he had time to meet the couple after he picks up his glasses. Luckily it is a slow day and he can get away. He said he is going to print out a contract to show them what needs done and when. If they are serious, we have questions for them so we can get a contract in place.

Dd2 is going forward with opening her own business. She has had a lot of positive feedback from the 2 different entities that promote new downtown businesses. She is going to put the 2 little girls in daycare. They are so happy at home that I really hate it, but it's a fact that the majority of kids are in daycare. Her oldest 3 always were and they survived.

Better get busy.

Bittersweet has snow, Emptynester has heat, and we're somewhere in between.

We've had record high temperatures in March, but today they are announcing a "freeze watch/warning" -- which any other year would not have been necessary because temps below freezing would still be normal in early April.

As I said before, the plants are confused and I assume some gung-ho gardeners started setting out seedlings early. Our back yard is full of violets and the lilac bush is in full bloom. Our lilacs have always been later than others in town, almost to June, so these are really early. I went out Monday and was able to pick a big bouquet of lilacs without the bush showing that I'd taken any. Now I'm curious what will happen to the bush if we do get a hard freeze tonight.

Lilac I had meant to say that at this point, only 100% of the purchase price is what I'd accept for a 'down payment.' I don't trust these people at all!

The minister called. She was thrilled with how I set up the church (thank goodness!) And I had put out 16 chairs, the exact number she has prepared for. Her dh has just been laid off so we talked about that for a bit, and dh sent him a text message (they are friends.)

Ds called to say he'll stay here on Saturday night, and that dfs and fiance will be coming for Easter dinner (on Monday night.) First chance we've had to meet her.

No coumadin for 2 days and extra broccoli did it. Now I'm waiting on a call for the amount they want me to take.

I knew green vegetables were important, but I don't think I realized just how well they work! Great job Indiana!!

We are home from 4 medical appts. Thankfully they were all fairly quick. DH had his yearly ENT checkup which includes getting scoped. He also got his weekly allergy shots. I had appt to get eye measured for interocular lens that will be put in next week when they take cataract out. I also had to go through pre-op process at the hospital. Now I'm all set and will just walk in off the street straight to surgery (next Wednesday).

Bookie - My favorite boots are Ariat fatbaby. They do not slip on slippery surfaces (aka wet soapy concrete at MPB), are tough enough to keep the owies away when I drop things on my toes, and are the most comfortable thing I have ever had on my feet. Yesterday I got a pair of plain black ones and a pair of pink/brown ones. Today I took LO to the boot store because I think we bought his last boots a size too big. My favorite brand is Ariat but LO last pair of boots was Tony Lama brand and they seem to run bigger. LO picked out these boots which should go well with his Easter outfit (blue blazer, white shirt and starched jeans). By the time he wears these boots out his other boots should fit him perfect.
