Easter Sunday

The services went well.

My sunrise service went really well, just the right length for the cold and a very good turnout. If I had needed a bulletin, I would have run out of them!

I didn't burn our church down making the rolls and the sanctuary smelled great. The rolls were to hot to eat during the children's story so they waited, very patiently, until communion and my sister handed them out then.

Ds is off for a run, I'll have my lunch soon but have already had some bacon from the breakfast ds made himself.

We're back from a nice church service on a beautiful day. Learned a few things in the sermon. Dd13 was invited to a new SS class, very small. She might like it - she will be the youngest but the oldest is still in college, and not an imposing person.

Skippable... I wish we could be allowed to sing familiar things but it is not to be I suppose. The only familiar Easter tune was with different words so that made it a learning experience rather than a comfort. The rest were three praise songs, two of which I've never seen before - dd was lost on all and gave up. And then, guess what the praise band does for the special music? Amazing Grace. Go figure. Gee, we would have loved to be able to sing that, and I imagine the visitors would have rather, too, to feel included, since I don't think they had a familiar word to sing. I kept thinking, it's Easter, can we please sing something we remember and can sing OUT on... ... Unwise EX-clusive choices, but then again, I can't give my time, so had better be grateful to those who can! I sincerely complimented the pianist on her traditional offertory, and she may realize, considering the rest of the service, why it was so meaningful.

Happy chatting after church with lots of folks, little and big. Little people getting to play the drums reminded me of OKay and LO. I'll be getting a quilt top that two ladies I remember from my youth made. They were elderly when I was a girl. That's very nice, but I'm also glad I was able to clearly state that I don't have time to quilt it now but will appreciate it for what it is. The lady giving it wants me to have it for my mother's sake because my mother helped her so much when she first came to the church.

Hurray for "just the right length" Kathryn. I'm happy you had a good morning. Nice to have bread-baking aroma wafting.

((Cowinkie)) I thought you were better much earlier than this! You must let us know these things. I've never had a garage, so can really see how you'll appreciate one.

The reason it's been suggested to me to limit soy is for my thyroid, Indiana, but I don't know if that's Nancy's reason. Jake has spring fever!

Sadie, that's right, I'd almost missed that, at 16, your younger son is not that much younger than helia's, sherinjoy's and Twins' Mom's. I was mentioning similar age village sons to NC SHE in Across the Table Cafe but didn't think about your son being relatively close, too. Her son is 18.

Ok, I took off and had a nap after I did those three. Let's say I'm moving very, very slowly!

-put away a very large basket of laundry that was folded last weekend
-refill meds containers for the week

I did that round, and got dressed and ready to take dd to meet droommate and dfriend for trip back.

Church, Easter egg hunt and lunch at DMom's went well. We stopped by DParents so LO could give them some Easter candy and ended up staying for lunch. After LO finishes his nap, we will go visit @ DMIL home.

I took a slew of pictures this morning so am working on getting them sorted and tagged (along with about 120 pictures that were already on the camera)

Dd2 has had company this weekend. They are having Easter dinner at her inlaws. She had planned to have our family over tonight for our Easter celebration. Last night she called and said she had 6 different ideas for our meal and ran them all by me. They all sounded delicious but 5 of them were labor intensive considering she wouldn't be home until at least 3. I told her to go with grilled burgers and hot dogs. She sounded disappointed. She called first thing this morning and said she was glad that I had talked her into that menu. I have fixed potato salad, deviled eggs, W atergate salad, a chocolate/peanut butter dessert and bean dip. I will need to heat the bean dip in the microwave at her house.

I am not real happy with the pajamas that I bought for the 2 15 year olds. I am going to tell them if they don't like them I will give them the money and return them. Without 1 of their mothers there for input, I wasn't real sure about what they would like. Dh said well they just sleep in them. My point is if they don't like them and won't wear them, then they might as well have the $.

Yesterday I mowed both yards and dh weed wacked both of them. We have 4 boxwood bushes in the alley that are overgrown and growing thru the fence and look awful. 2 weeks ago dh attacked one of them. Yesterday we did 2 more. I can't believe the amount of trash and leaves that were collecting under them. So we just have 1 in the alley to do, plus there is one growing at the back corner of the house and we are taking it completely out. The other 4 are just being cut way back.

Still haven't found that camera.

The kids will have an Easter egg hunt.

If I'm going to be the topic of conversation here (where I live) then they at least should get the facts straight.

Rumor has it I cut my leg on my wheels (electric wheelchair). I keep correcting that fact with everyone - no the rocker.

It is absolutely gorgeous outside - cold but beautiful.

It's beautiful here as well. I got dd to dfriends to head to k-town and said goodbye to all. On the way home I stopped off at Wmart and had a leisurely trip through. Bought a couple of basil plants - I may just put them in planters so I can take them with me when we move, but it will be nice to have basil now - I love to put a couple of leaves into a sandwich. Loaded up with groceries, which I still have to put away.

After that I need to reboot laundry to do some delicates, and take the ddogs for a little w-a-l-k.

Hmmm I love basil in a sandwich too. Also in a salad, tomato soup,etc. In other words I love basil.

I made Jake close his eyes so he didn't see w-a-l-k because he can spell walk.

Hello to everyone -- Happy Easter!

(((Harriet))) re: church service. I think if we had no alternative to our "contemporary" service, dh would just quit going -- or start looking for another church.
The 9:00 a.m. start time is NOT to our liking, but it'll do, I guess.

We ate lunch at dbil's... going to visit my parents in a bit.
