Dinner done, now for clean up. Watching the masters and enjoying a lazy afternoon. Read outside for awhile while the turkey cooked. Willis played and went swimming for a while. He's taking a much needed nap right now, surprised that Sweetie hasn't joined him

Dog-boys and I walked. We're all three out of shape.

I sat outside for awhile and brushed them a bit, and read a little, and had a little glass of wine. I never did get most the stuff here done today, but otoh the dcleaning lady will be here tomorrow and tax season is nearly over....

I had bought a funny comedy DVD for my cousin who is sick and got it into a padded manila envelope today to be mailed. Part of it is Abbott and Costello, one of my tried-and-true feel-better teams. I may write on the outside, "boring envelope, really funny Get Well Card".

Now I wish I had two of them because at church I learned a friend is staying inside because of a (hopefully minor) stroke brought on by a surgery. One half of her face was affected and she doesn't want to go out just yet. I think she needs a laugh, too.

Final family gathering of Easter celebration is done. It was a fun gathering spent outside. LO and his cousins (6 of them under 5 years old) had a good time playing together. When they reached a point of exhaustion from running/playing hard then they thought it was great fun to all pile into cart and be pulled by DUncle on lawn mower. Rinse/repeat over and over.

We have had a great Easter doing nothing. Our company left this morning after saying good-bye and good-night last night. I didn't get a picture of them in their Easter Clothes as they never came up to the house.

Went up the hill to church and then came home for a nap. Raked and weeded a bit of the back yard but decided to rest. Skyped with DGD#6 who has a cut over her eye after tripping over her back pack at school.

Now I will heat up leftovers for our supper. There was a dinner at the clubhouse but I didn't know about it. Got to keep up more with stuff, I guess.

It has been a great day.

Hello, villagers ~
I've had a fun but very social weekend.

Yesterday morning I drove to The Big City to a sewing friend's house because she wanted to give me some fabric. It's nothing special, but it will be a good weight to use as test fabric for some new patterns I want to try. I'm grateful she thought of me when she was deciding to give away the fabric.

She also gave me a tour of her sewing room. She has it so well organized that it's easy to understand how she's able to finish so many projects. I like her custom-built mobile cutting table that has storage for patterns and supplies underneath. She has a couple of shelves close to the ceiling for reference books and magazines in decorated boxes. Rulers and other tools hung on the wall. A closet full of fabric in bins all sorted and neatly labeled. What an inspiration!

After leaving her place, I spent a few hours running errands and doing some necessary shopping, paid a couple bills, bought a few groceries. Since I was driving right past, I stopped at my favorite plus-size clothing store and was lucky enough to find a pair of navy blue slacks in my size at a good sale price. They'll be nice for any time I need something dressier than jeans but am not able to wear a skirt. I prefer skirts because I don't think I look good in pants, but sometimes pants are necessary.

Last night I ran up to DH's oldest brother's to see some of the family members who were in town from out of state. DH didn't feel like going because he's had a disagreement with one of the sisters-in-law who has a tendancy to micro-manage everyone else's lives. DH was just NOT in the mood to put up with it. I went up by myself to see the family and try to pour a little oil on troubled waters. Not sure that I was very successful, but my other goal was to pin down the group to decide the date for the summer family reunion picnic.

After all that, the date that ends up working best for everyone else is a weekend I already have a prior commitment. It will be ok, I will make an effort to see everyone some time or other. I will just miss seeing the whole group at the same time. Not necessarily a bad thing -- with such a large family, it's all but impossible to talk to everyone when the whole group gets together anyway. I'll probably have better luck by catching everyone in smaller combinations. DH will go to the big picnic without me and hang out with his brothers, he'll be fine.

Today we went up to my younger sister's and had lunch with her kids and grandkids, DMom, my oldest sister, and some friends. There were a lot of little children there today, so DSis organized an egg hunt in the yards.

She had to plan well, so the kids could play outside before lunch. She filled a basket for each child with little toys and a book, and stashed them in her bedroom while we were eating. Then after lunch the women supervised as the children were allowed to open their baskets and play with the toys, while the men went outside and "hid" candy-filled plastic eggs. Then the kids were each given a bag and let loose to run off some energy. The group of littles stayed in the fenced-in back yard, and the 2 older kids were allowed in the front yard with several of us grown-ups to supervise to make sure they didn't get too excited and wander into the street. After all of the eggs were "found" the candy was transferred to the baskets to go home with the kids, and the plastic eggs will be re-used next year.

It was a magical afternoon visiting with family, watching so many children playing together, taking turns holding the babies, and meeting some new people who were so friendly that we just chatted away as if we'd known each other for years.

Tomorrow is Apron Day. My kitchen and laundry room need major help!

I'm back, but not much to tell. We did go out to my parents' house and then ate out w/ds & ddil. Had a nice time.
Now I have a load of clothes in the washer and I'm trying to get ready for bed. I need to look back at my weekend list and see how close I came to my "need to do's."

[x] reception/going away party for dfriend's son who is soon leaving for Afghanistan.

(Feel like really deadbeat relatives, b/c we never reciprocate, but dsisil is such a Martha Stewart... and I am such a... dud. I did help her clean up kitchen and we left everything looking spic & span.)

[x] laundry
[x] prepared lunch stuff for tomorrow

Well... not too bad. Sufficient to the day re: the school stuff. Allergies are bothering me tonight, and I'm tired. As soon as I get this load of clothes hanging to dry, I'm going to bed! Hope y''all have a great day tomorrow!!!
