Up and At Em Thursday

Post by Indiana »

I have been up since 4 am.

I took the 3 dozen cinnamon rolls minus 3 out of the fridge to sit for an hour before baking.

I made a second batch of cream cheese icing for them.

I made clafouti (Julia Child French recipe). It happens to be diabetic friendly. One of the guys is diabetic.

I iced the rolls and packed everything up.

I delivered outside the doors of 4 neighbors and friends.

Then I delivered a dozen and 1/2 the clafouti to the maintenance office a few buildings down.

I delivered a dozen to the concierge desk for housekeeping, the concierge, the administrator and two staff.

My kitchen is clean. I took care of that before I went to bed and then this morning as I finished up.

Were you up and at em this morning.

I slept in until 6:30 this morning and got here a little late...still lollygagging instead of diving right in this morning, I'm afraid.

I still have seven returns right now. I'm making a hit list for the day. Still haven't started my own. :o

Good grief.

:D

Well, I'm on track with my routines, but nothing so impressive as Indiana's rounds of home-baked gift-giving this a.m.

We found out they expect my ddad to come in to the hematologist this a.m. I insisted I could handle it on my own, but HRH is changing plans around to go with me. Then I have my own appt later this afternoon in the big city at a new-to-me downtown office. Thankfully, the parking is free for this building, but I don't think that will keep it from being complicated.

I'm frustrated that I was not on top of this appt scheduling (ddad) in advance and trying to figure out a breakdown in communication.

Still no word from dd32 about whether they are driving in Friday. They have no idea dstepdil is holding her own scheduling back and waiting to hear from them. They also have no idea that if they come next weekend instead, ds27 and ddil will be away at her sister's college graduation, which will make dd32 sad, missing them and the baby. Maybe I should volunteer info about her brother, but I know she's already wrestling with so many details of trying to visit.

I like "hit list" Twins' Mom! Sounds like some absolute accomplishments, coming up!

We are at an elevated risk today for hail, high winds and possible tornadoes. We already have the high winds.

I plan to be home today except for a quick errand around 10. I am trying to go thru clothes so I can get them to the church tomorrow. This weekend is the annual service day project where they give away free clothes to anyone in need.

Recently, Kathryn was mentioning toaster ovens. I am thinking of getting one. During the summer I hate to run the oven and therefore there are a lot things we don't eat because of this. When I am using the air conditioner, I always put my crockpot on the deck, because it really puts out heat. I am thinking I can do the same with a toaster oven. Or I might use it in the sunroom. Dd2 had a window ac unit in the sunroom but it kicked the bucket. Dh doesn't want to buy one and therefore we won't be using it during the summer, so we might as well use that room for something. Since it was filled with boxes until last week, we have never bought furniture for it. I am thinking of getting a nice set of wicker furniture and putting part of it in the front under the large covered entry and the rest on the patio. Then in the fall we can clean it up and put it in the sunroom for the winter. I don't want to buy upholstered furniture for that room because it gets dusty out there so easily.

Well I better get busy................

I just cut the left over cinnamon rolls in half and some of them in thirds. I bagged them for the freezer.

Yesterday as I was taking Jake out the housekeeping guy that takes my trash out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday said he couldn't take my trash out any more. He boss said for him to tell me. She was afraid to tell me. I told him to have her see me because I wanted to know why.

One of the residents started it. He doesn't want to take his trash to the trash room.He feels he is paying to much money a month to have to do that. He says it should be included. He also doesn't think he should return the mini grocery cart to the basement garage for the next person to use.

Yes we do pay a pretty penny to live here and not everyone can afford it but to say that because of what he pays he shouldn't have to do it is wrong. Before I came I compared my mortgage, taxes, insurance, yard, snow, utilities, phone, TV, water softener, etc to what I would be paying here. It is more expensive here but that is fine to me when you add in security, a wellness center, a nurse, dinner, and lunch if you want it, repairs, cleaning, etc. So it comes out ok.

So the answer was housekeeping isn't doing trash period. If he wants his trash taken to the trash room he must pay for it to be done. They weren't supposed to tell me no trash. The administrator came yesterday afternoon to apologize for the mix up. I wasn't to be included in no trash and not included in paying. She knows I can't open the door and the trash can. She said just to be quiet about it.

We have been doing it for months and no one knows about it.

I also asked her about an alternative to a muzzle for Jake. He wants nothing to do with it. I suggested one of the lampshade collars. It would serve the same purpose and she said if they put their hand near his mouth it is their problem.

I like her.

I have been up since 4 am.
Think that's about the time I finally went to sleep, Indiana. So, of course I didn't get up until 9 a.m.! So, in a word, "NO", I'm barely up and at 'em.

What's the rush, Twins -you still have 5 days. But I understand the 'hit list'. Sometimes when I'm doing a chore (mainly desk type) I have to list each and every step to getting it done. Often do this when I'm doing a report.

Sherinjoy's mentioning the other day of "Don't Break the Chain" was intriguing to me. Downloaded it to my Iphone (you can only do 1 thing on there). But then I made up my own chart and have 4 items on it. Found a really nice red X in clip art and am using that. So far I figure I'm up to at least15 days on "paper" work @30 minutes a day. I've expanded that somewhat to include 'decluttering' too. I've gone through a lot of paper in that time -shredded a lot. There's a lot more waiting for me up north. But I'll include all kinds of paper (mementos, pictures, cards, etc, etc, etc).

DH had me searching for some DVD's we'd purchased of a show in Branson, 2010. Finally called him to ask if perhaps he 'leant' them to his db after Christmas that year. So will have to find that out the next time I go over. Just happened to think of another we got from Branson and I'm sure that's where they all are.

Okay, on to get some things done. NOW I'm up and at 'em!
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

This was my post yesterday - since I didn't get it done - I'll try to finish it today.
My goals for today:
  • Dishes - DONE
Sweep and mop vinyl floors (Bath, Laundry & Kitchen) - DONE

    Pick up bedroom
Sort laundry (do one load - wash, dry, fold & put away)
Wash 2 living room windows (Inside and out) - DONE
Print tax form and file with attachments
I think that should be do-able but knowing my procrastinational tendencies who knows what will happen
It’s never too late to be what you might have been.

I'm up early today before the first bus at 7:12 came for the high schooler across the street. It's wet and rainy outside today here it was raining when I went to bed last night.

Yesterday the dogs were acting up and I think the neighbors must have been gone they were nearly as bad as ever there is one that is worse and jumps up on the fence. I'm just glad that no grand kids were out in the back with me while I pulled a weed or two along the back fence.

Today I need to work on the kitchen, floors, laundry that I did not finish yesterday b/c I was out side doing some zone work {on the ground}.

H. made the bed before I was able to tell him it was sheet washing day. H. was telling me some one he knew moved in to the trailer park after selling their house and the park got new owners and rates doubled they were fit to be tied and there is no pool there now! Neighbor guy down the street was complaining about his taxes yesterday again. Is getting ready to put his house up for sale wants to move back to Ore. he's not happy about much of any thing ever that I can tell. LOL!

Walked with another neighbor and I asked her about some thing and she talked a lot about it I hope it was helpful for her to share. I'm not sure it was for me to hear it sort of wished I'd not asked LOL! sigh when will I learn.

Just learned I have granny duty today mid-morning glad for that.

Indiana, your post made my mouth water! Yum!!!! I bet you are the most popular resident today. Poor Jake, hope you can come up with a compromise for him.

Harriet, good thoughts for your "downtown big city" Dr. appt. Sometimes I do a trial run, if I have time & advance notice. I really dislike traveling to unfamiliar places for time sensitive appointments.

MT, I'm also trying again on yesterday's list. We can do it!!!

There must be a front coming through, my sinuses are going crazy. I think I hear thunder...

Waving to everyone, have a wonderful day!

Good morning! The maids came yesterday and left the house smelling clean! I found the bathmat stuck to the wall. I guess they cleaned under it and forgot to put it back. Made me laugh. DFriend and I figured out what shore excursions to go on. I stayed up too late and had bad dreams with XDH's family in them. They were being horribly mean, something they would not do in real life. XDH put me in a panic this morning. He sent DD10's summer schedule and one week was labelled Daddy vacation. I thought that meant he was going out of town and leaving DD with me. This was a week I would be out of the country for 3 days! Turned out he was taking DD along! There are two other weeks I have questions about. The vet called and recommended doing the anti-fungal bath for the new foster kitty. It may have to be done under anesthesia if she is too skittish. She is in a house that had ringworm a few months ago.
