Almost packed and ready for the trip to Phoenix. First we go up the hill to church.

Then we will come back here for lunch and to pack up the last stuff (computers, etc.) then off to my DBro for the night.

Tomorrow we have to be at the hospital at 8 for check in. Procedure is at 10 and he should be in recovery by 11 per the nurse.

Off to round up the counted cross stitch I want to take with me.

Inaccurate obituaries - Of course, this is one of my pet peeves, so ya'll know to take me with a grain of sand. But OKay, if someone who was around her as much as you were is sure this is not what she would have wanted, it probably wasn't. Still, Cowinkie makes good points. I, too, would have Kally's question - were the children correctly named?

If the children's full names were given and it was accurately explained that she was their mother, that's the most important thing at that generation. If not, something is very wrong with the obit, both now and for future readers who may have to wonder if this is even the right obituary for their ancestor. No, not wise to give dates on "time together", especially if there are children who will be aware the marriage to their father (or stepfather) was not over during those years. Many, if not most, obits don't mention how many years someone was married when they died anyway, just that they were. So why cause various readers from all direction of acquaintance to start doing math in their heads, especially those who may feel pain at this, like former parents-in-law, or the nieces and nephews of the former spouse? It does seem as if some short-sighted decisions were made.

I think dd had a good experience this morning. She likes the new girl.

The weather for my area for tonight from the National Weather Service is yucko:

Until they come though our high is expected to be 80 and winds 40 - 50 mph. Jake will learn to fly this afternoon and this evening.

Indiana, will Jake learn to fly because of the high winds, or the medication he will receive to help him deal with it? If I give dMacs meds, he can sleep right through anything, LOL.

I need to get rolling for the day. So far I've lounged, slept, read the paper, and slept some more. At least I'm not working today. I worked yesterday until maybe 1:30 or 2, then did a pass at our return (need to round up more info) and came home. I had a nice afternoon nap, and dh and I went out to a new barbecue place for supper in the convertible, then by the new house to walk through and look at outlets, lighting needs and switches. (Our pre-drywall walk through is on Wednesday, so it's the time to make those changes on Wednesday -after that it's a lot harder.) We had a good evening - it was nice being outside in the convertible and being together but I just don't care to be around people right now.

That small round is done, and I remembered that I was planning to go down the mountain and get a pedicure today....so I will get cleaned up and dressed and head out for that. I'd like to also pick up several ferns for the yard as a very first step in sprucing things up.

Let musician's husband 'shop' at my place for travel stuff (I have too much and he's heading off on the road due to a job promotion.) He left with little bottles, clothes brush, Tide to go stick, soap dish, vitamin containers and a suitcase.

Recorded my friend's service - will listen to that later. I did watch a bit of it online after the 'shopping' was done and it was good to see him as well as hear him. He had a hard week so I'm looking forward to deep listening to his message to get clues as to how he's doing.

Made a healthy lunch.

Dh and I are headed out now to buy a battery for my heart monitor. Both my transmitters work with the receiver on the treadmill but I want to have the wrist band receiver working too and its battery is dead.

Re: Obituary - Her children were named along with her last husband grown children (whom she just met last year for the first time). I didn't think of the information in the obituary being viewed years later and how misleading it could be. I was just thinking how hurtful it has to be to those that were a huge part of her life and how she wouldn't have wanted to cause that pain.

I've been surfing and ended up registering to attend a big city home school convention in a couple of weeks. I want more information before a decision is made and this seemed to be a good way to get it.

DDIL called Friday after she registered DGS5 for kindergarten in public school. She was NOT happy at all with what she found in public school (low standards and environment). I was a bit surprised because one of the reasons DDIL choose to move to where they live is because it was rated one of the best public schools. DDIL used to teach in public schools and has her master degree in education. She still has several contacts in school system and a few times a year, she works on contract basis to prepare tests for pubic high school classes. Even being this familiar with public school system, she found herself being surprised how it has changed recently. After she left the public school registration on Friday, she immediately visited some alternative schools and received some good feedback. She selected a school and is in the process of applying for DGS5 to attend. DSon and DDIL are being interviewed on Thursday, however she is unsure if they will be accepted since they don't attend church regularly as a family. DGS5 has been in a private school (church ran) for the past 2 years so she is hoping that might help.

I met with the administrator.

Jake can wear an e collar instead of a muzzle. I can get a clear one that is shorter than the old ones. Also back to trash. I will be taking my trash to the basement. I have to do it super early in the morning or very late at night so no one sees me. That is pretty funny.

Super early morning means before 7 am and super late at night means after 9 pm. Those are doable. My administrator wanted housekeeping to continue to do it but the overall administrator said no. Instead of fighting this battle I'll pick a more important one.

I have two cans I can use in the basement. One is housekeepings and one is maintenance.

Jake was fascinated watching the geese this afternoon.

Home again. That took quite a while - they let me soak awhile, then she took some extra time on my "hooves" so they feel almost like feet again. I also picked up the ferns, waiting for dh to get home to move the two biggest ones that I hope will fit in the planters on the front porch. (I've found it easier to pop them into the planter in the pot - and it's easy to clean up in the fall.)

I still need to get some things done. The cleaning lady isn't coming until Wednesday this week, but I do need to do some laundry and things to get the week started out. Two more days of work and I'll be done for the week, and for tax season. What freedom!

So, going to set a timer and go for 25 minutes....reboot laundry, marinate chicken, refill meds, feed the dogs...the list is endless.

Indiana, very weird that they insist that you do it yourself, and must do it very early or late so no one sees you. I would have thought that a retirement community would be more disability-friendly.

I've folded the sheets that the cleaning lady left on Wednesday, watered the orchid, refilled meds containers, done a bunch of other small stuff. Dh still isn't home.

For some reason the break timer is set for 15 minutes - I took part of it and now I'm going again.
