24 days, Cowinkie... We get out on the 24th of May. And I may make it 23 for me, LOL... I may need to take off one Friday to do a thing w/dh.

I got chilled while outside but a mug of hot tea is doing the trick.

Speaking of counting days I can't believe there are only 8 days left in April.

Harriet I so enjoyed the stories yesterday about your dgsons. Especially going out on the field. When my dnieces and dnephews were little they would escape in church and go to the front for gpa to pick them up. At least they didn't do it during the sermons. He never minded and the congregation enjoyed it.

Oh boy I just found a good home for my upright vacuum and hand vacuum. The evening security officer is getting his first house. He closes tomorrow. He is a nice young man and I have known him since he was a baby. My sis-in-law baby sat for him and him Mom worked for me.

Smiling at NC SHE's puzzlement over OKay's attentiveness training for a VIP in her household. No, not exactly for the dogs. But I wouldn't be surprised if LO couldn't teach them what he learns! LO is an extremely bright 3-year-old boy, or little one.

Oh, OKay, you are saying such magic gardening words; you know that, don't you? Sigh. Sure wishing I could garden again. Someday, maybe. Are the raised beds the length of the garden and are they enclosed on the sides with anything?

Well, my dd32 and family are traveling back and I have had my usual nap after they leave. Tired but happy for all the pleasant times.

Kally, I don't mind at all! Must tell that it was bittersweet calling her grandson (now 6) MonsterBoy that started the silly names I use to differentiate between mine. Although lots of folks did it on other boards earlier - CEO did, I believe. My dd32's children:

DangerBoy is 5, stretching up tall. He is getting all 100s on his spelling tests of 6-letter words, and recited a bunch for me! Very happy with Kindergarten.

WonderBoy just turned 4 and is an imp, outgoing and teasing, warms up to strangers fast. He's the only blonde, with brown eyes while his brothers have hazel.

little britches is one year, 9 months, and inherited his mother's curls. He can say a few phrases lately, notably, "I don't know!", and likes to be tickled.

Elementary School woes - A little frustrating to dd and dsonil that in order to remain in speech therapy, which DangerBoy needs because of partial hearing loss, he must also stay in Reading class with a special reading teacher. He is so bored in the reading class that he doesn't turn the pages but just recites the repetitive books by memory, and hates the class. Dsonil has asked for a little more challenge, but feels their hands are tied to ask again, because if she says he doesn't need her class, his speech therapy could be taken away, too, since they are linked! Does that seem fair?!?!

Kathryn, we made your pizza recipe (microwaved) on small, soft tortillas for the boys for part of their supper last night and they loved them. For little britches, I rolled his up into a hold-able thing, so both other boys wanted theirs like that, too.

I just remembered a step stool he can have. He is 6'4" so he doesn't usually need one but his girl friend is shorter. I have the one I use to get in bed with that is better for me because the steps are wider and the base is solid.

I do my pizza on tortilla's too Harriet. I like thin crust on pizza so for me it is closer than pita.

He took all three things I'm am so happy and he is too.

I just logged what I've eaten today and I have points left over - even when counting the cookies at church! I still need to drink more water though. I had diet coke at lunch because I was out and skipped my decaf tea this morning because I was short on time. That accounts for the 3 - 4 glasses I'm short today. I've drunk the same amount of liquid as other days but liquid with caffeine doesn't count.

I'll probably eat something else before bed. Dh is watching a movie and I still need to clean up the kitchen but I'm being lazy. No wonder I don't get any books read - dh spent our time at home this afternoon reading, I spent it doing non-important stuff on the computer.

This morning I buried the last and first of my guinea pigs. She is with the others now. She would have been 5 in May.

I need promise myself to keep buying and eating the healthy veg and fruit she loved to share.

Ker-THUMP! That is the sound of my tired body hitting the chair as I plop in exhaustion....

BDay Party was a success!! From my point of view there were some areas I could have done better, however DGS17 and DGS15 were VERY grateful and enjoyed every moment of it......so I am pleased. MPB almost threw a wrinkle into the party by developing a major water leak in the attic which was leaking down through the ceiling below. The repair couldn't be ignored or post-poned so we went to the wire in getting it fixed, getting DGS's and arriving at our home before the guests started arriving. Guest were already here when I made it home, but thankfully DH was here in time to welcome them.....and start the fire to start cooking immediately. I had 2 packages 40 weinter plus 4 packages of Hot links (20)....plus 3 more packages that we didn't open. So that means DH cooked 100 weiners/hot links. We sent 21 hot dogs home with people and have a few here....which means we managed to consume 70 +/- hot dogs at the party.....plus sides....plus cake/ice cream. I just realized that was so busy that I don't think I ate.

Attentiveness training is part of the 49 character qualities that I have started teaching to 3 year old grandson. I have to admit to getting the idea to use the instant reward system after watching DDIL train their dogs.

Garden raised beds don't run the length of the garden. I've expanded and modified the raised beds so many times that I lost count. It's like moving the furniture in the living room....I just keep moving things around until it feels right. Some beds are U shaped but most are rectangle. All beds are enclosed. All beds have some sort of fence over or around them to keep the dogs from digging them up or using them for a nice soft bed to sleep on. ARGH!!

Ack! Pushed the wrong button and lost a post. Here's a second version....

We've had a quiet day here, unusual for us. Ddil#2 called to say they couldn't come because they are having "one of those days". Because of all the rain yesterday and overnight she awoke at midnight with water dripping on her head. So today ds has been up on the roof sweeping leaves and pine needles trying to find the leak. Then dgd10 skidded and fell off her scooter and skinned her whole kneecap.

Ddil#1 is doing well. Thank you for well wishes after her surgery. Harmony and Lucy, yes she did have outpatient surgery. She did pre-op earlier in the week, arrived at T Center 5:30 am, but went into surgery at 9:45. They did the microscopic with three tiny incisions and were on the way home at 2 pm.

Indiana, you've had a rough week -- hope this one goes better. Poor Jake; does the bad weather bother him? Does he have a doggie coat to keep him warm? Our dBlondie won't go out when the grass is wet!

Kally, hope your back gets better soon.

Lucy and Cowinkie, my ddil#2 counts the days till school's out also..she has 32 days till summer break.

OKay, Happy Birthday to both dgsons. I'm sure they'll have a wonderful party!

Harriet, sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with dfamily, and especially exciting yesterday! (When our ds#1 was three yrs. we celebrated Mother's Day at a restaurant, which was crowded, of course. He finished eating and before we stopped him, wanted to leave. Dh ran after him, through the restaurant right to the kitchen!) Kids do the darndest things, don't they! lol

We had a good time at the Highland Games yesterday also. Although Harriet's festival sounded like it was bigger and had more events. We got there right after lunchtime and watched the stone throw and caber toss, then wandered through some of the other tents. Ddil#2 and dh had volunteered to help with the high school band concession stand, but they had enough people so didn't have to. Dgd17's band was to play at 3pm. We enjoyed music from a couple other bands, but just before 3pm started the deluge of rain, so they didn't get to play. Most of the concessions started closing. We took refuge with lots of others in one of the booths - the owner said "Come on in, plenty of room". He made lots of sales during that band of rain! Dgd17 bought a Claddagh ring to replace hers she lost on the practice field at school. Dgd10 bought a bracelet with Irish charms. Dh bought a deck of playing cards with pictures of different places and things in Ireland on them and I bought a small silver ring with a single Irish knot in a circle and matching earrings! When the showers stopped for a few minutes we walked around a little more, but left soon after. We went to our neighboring city and had dinner at an Irish Pub, O'Keefe's; first time for dh and I there, food was good.

Harmony asked about Dunedin's city heritage....There are a lot of Scottish and Irish residents living there. The city was founded by two Scotsmen from Edinburgh, Scotland before 1899.
