Happy birthday, Cowinkie!

I'm still plugging away here. Still trying to fix the kitchen but have not been able to find a block of time for the big switch. Several times a day I go in there and move a few things, just to whittle away at it.

DH and I had a relaxing weekend at home. I had hoped to clean out the garage & shed but the weather was cold, rainy, dark, gloomy and just plain yucky. When the weather has been nice, we haven't been able to arrange the block of time.

Today I took a couple sewing DVDs to a friend who had a hip replacement a few weeks ago. She won't be cleared to drive for another week and a half. Her husband has been working so many hours that he can't take her anywhere. Her sewing machine and computer are in her basement and she can't do the stairs yet. He refuses to let her buy a notebook pc or laptop for this "temporary" situation -- even though she's going to have the other hip replaced in August. Yes, she admits to going a little stir crazy.

I've checked books of glassware and collectibles in 2 libraries now and still can't find anything like the little creamer/sugar/honey set I bought at Goodwill. I'm not sure I'm even calling it the right thing. I have a friend who goes to a lot of auctions and flea markets, I might try to meet him for coffee and ask what he thinks it is.

Wow, there's been a lot of posts today. I'll try to catch up tomorrow. Also want to go in and read MT's Itinerary in "Members Only" as soon as I have a chance. Just wanted to let you know I posted a link to an article about DZoe under the same category. Not perfect yet. We didn't even know it was to be in.

Spent part of the evening arranging travel for dh. He's decided to be away the week I'm away in Atlanta at the preaching conference. Technically, I decided that since I approved the teaching job even though it is well below our regular rates. It is still a lot of money and worth dh going but it makes a lot more work for me.

Throughout the evening, we figured it would take 7.5 hours to drive there and it will take 6.5 hours to fly it cheaply or cost almost 3x as much to fly it directly (and still take 5 hours to get there.) So dh is going to drive it.

I now need to rent a car for the 2 days before I leave and shut up the house and stay at a hotel by the airport for one night. Had dh been here, we could have left at 4 a.m. for the airport but since he isn't here, I'll have to shut up the house and that takes over an hour which means I'd have to get up insanely early, around 2:30. If I stay at the airport, I can sleep in until 4:30 and still get there on time. Besides, renting a car is cheaper than taking a taxi to the airport.

After ds left, I got the main floor vacuumed and the floors mopped. The kitchen floor was too sticky to leave any longer.
And since I get home before dh does, ds will have to pick me up at the airport and drive me home. We'll stop to eat along the way and buy groceries and I'll be at home without a car for 24 hours (but that's doable, dh stayed here for a week once without a car.)

I'll have to cancel the mail for the time we are gone and arrange someone to watch the house. Suddenly, my easy trip away has got a lot more complicated....

I also spent time trying to figure out how to get to the hotel in Atlanta from the airport. It looks like the Marta train will take us most of the way there (we seem to be in an area on the opposite side of the city, not downtown.) The minister figured on taking a taxi but transit looks way cheaper if I'm reading everything right.
