TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY

Do you have something in your home or in your life that needs a 'transformation'? With me it could be a transformation of my attitude re: gd (or perhaps it's her who could use the transformation!) Yes, that's it. I'll spend every moment I think of her today in prayer for her transformation. Yesterday was a day that definitely pinpointed that need.

On the bright side I've posted an article in "Members Only". See MT's summer itinerary is there too -need to glance at that while I have a moment.

Got up by 6 so I can gradually wake up and get ready to go to school. (How DO you gals do it every day?) Trying to help DD in counting tons of change for their Relay for Life team. The school has had a 'competition' of "Chunk Your Change" in honor of one of their students who has leukemia. So far they're up over $1,500 and just about all of that is change. TONS of change! DD and her co-teacher plan to take it to the bank today since the ACS decided they won't take the change now. There are pails and pails! They talked to the credit union today and the bank arranged for them to bring it in and they'll run it through the counters there. (It still needs to be counted at the school so each class gets their credit). There's no prize except a trophy and 'bragging rights'. It's amazing how much these kids have done in a week and this is probably one of the poorer schools overall in the district.

At least this event (after the Memorial Dedication) is being held at the fire hall, Harriet. Glad to see that. Reminds me I have to call our pastor today to personally invite her to the Dedication. I would imagine that it's the Auxiliary that's providing refreshments.

May? May? May? How did that happen? Yes, I know, I only have 8 days left to prepare for my trip home. Guess I'd best get busy.

Was printing out the article on BabyZoe's Memorial Garden so I can take it over to dbil/dsil's later today. I can not even begin to imagine how much this one event has affected and changed DS-A. He is SO looking forward to their new baby (coming July 11th). That's the scheduled date for her C-section unless DS-A can get her 'started' on July 5th. He'd love that! Dr. just laughed and said that's when they'd do it if DS-A had success driving on bumpy roads. I'm not really sure we have any of those up home. He'd have to go through a pasture!

OK, I'm off to shower, dress and get to school. (It's good for me, really. Perhaps I'll even volunteer for next year. Need something more than Friday mornings at church.)

Yes, I could use some transforming today! Little was done yesterday after I finally did get home. Fielded two or three more calls from dmother (about nothing ) a call each from ds and dd regarding getting home this week, several temple emails with bad news (upset members, withdrawing members, we're wasting money like drunken sailors) and I finally ordered a pizza for supper and drowned my sorrows in it. I am feeling so peopled-out still from the weekend and the day with dmom and I'm tired of putting out fires right now.

Dh came home last night and helped me remember not to take the temple business personally. Helped a little.

Today I need to s2s and head to work, later have a meeting at 5:45. Tomorrow an early meeting with rabbi and then lunch with the disgruntled congregant. (This guy sent an email to rabbi on Friday that, while not obscene, was ugly, sarcastic and downright mean, and cc-ed me. Great, huh?)

Another busy week, no rest for the wicked?

First day of the new month of May, and new Monthly threads are sprouting like little May flowers of opportunity all around the village! There's Cardfile Central, Health and Fitness, a Declutter Strategy Room for your convenience, J & C, and Arts, Crafts and Needlework for May.

Dee mentioned several new threads already, too, and notice a link and discussion of an assortment of shed/yard-building ideas in Outdoor Spaces and Gardens forum. It's after April, so time for a new Paper-Tamer's thread in Organization and Simplification Tools forum.

Indiana has begun a new thread in Organization and Simplification Tools forum on cleaning tips.

I don't feel "new" yet like I usually do at the beginning of a new month.

Transformation happening around here is all centered around the business. Lots of changes. Helper did not show up today. DH called customer and they were lamenting all the people out of work and how hard it is to get somebody reliable who cares about working. I just don't get it.

Desk chores done. DH off to county office with stacks of papers, organized finally...we're having to sub out work we would be doing because of employee situation. It's enough to make me scream.

THANK YOU Admin & Moderators who are so faithful to keep this board organized and working so well. The new monthly threads are wonderful.

Dee - your living in our world. Buckets and pails of change to count. We do daily bank trip to process the paper, but because we replenish the change makers when the volume goes down we only do a weekly trip for the extra change on hand. LOVE those big change counters at the bank, they are definitely worth the effort of using! I'm wondering how they know how much money they have collected before they count the change? We have learned that a gallon of quarters is in the vicinity of $800. Are they doing estimates like that to come up with the $1500?

This morning I spent 2 hours organizing LO lesson material. There is only enough on hand for the next 15 lessons. I've kept his completed lesson papers from this year and put them in a 3" binder. It is FULL to the max. I am hopeful after attending conference on Friday and legal stuff later this month, that a decision will be made and can start making plans for his future.....including which school and/or curriculum.

(Twins' Mom) Sorry you're having such a yucky day.

Dee ~ From a few things you've mentioned, I wonder if DGD is either deliberately or unconsciously trying to get in enough trouble that she thinks your DD would cancel the trip with you. Maybe find a reward for the day that DD gets back home that will ONLY happen if DGD meets expectations for the next several days? What consequences does she get for misbehaving? (Sorry to make it sound like when Okay was behavior training the dog.) I know she has issues with impulse control -- is she capable of understanding a timeframe as long as 2 weeks? Have DD & DSIL tried any kind of written "contract" or daily checklist for behavior? It's not just for little kids, businesses use checklists all the time and even our Harriet has her 14-point Healthy Habits card. Maybe her behavior counselor already has a similar "contract" for other clients that can be adapted just to get everyone through the next few weeks?

Too bad the school wasn't able to borrow a bunch of coin sorting banks to help count. There are lots out there, and some are fun mazes that students could have played.

I'm afraid that with the use of gift cards and such, any kind of coin bank is going the way of ... um ... I was going to say vinyl record albums, but they have lately become popular again. What other things did we used to use every day but younger generations no longer recognize?
