Good morning all! Last night I got almost all the things I needed done. I cooked lunches for Wednesday and Friday, bought things I needed (groceries + fire extinguisher), did two loads of laundry but have not folded and put away yet. I did not work on the bathtub and it needs to be complete within two weeks. I talked to my mom for about an hour and we realized I have lost a check from her. I checked my credit card online and it is going to be ugly. Several unusual expenses are on it. I also worked with the new cat. She still hisses to greet me, but wants to be petted eventually. She eats a lot too. Despite having missed DD10's party, I did not mope yesterday, nor did I start post-morteming my marriage. It was cold this morning and my office is cold. Of course, no one else in the office is cold, just me.

Tonight is Girls' Night Out and I am hoping DD will want to actually go out instead of stay at home. Last week she mentioned the library as a potential destination. She is getting bored with Chuck E Cheese. I hope to get to bed early, I am rather tired.

Wanted to say to ((Norma)) that I'm sorry she had to deal with eye talk from dr. I don't like eye talk from dr, either! I went through enough with my dmom, and last time I was there myself, dr informed me that he knew I was already using my right eye much more than my left, didn't I? Well, I didn't know it until then, but now I think about it often!! Sounds like for you there's some bad news but also some plans and things you/dr can do to help, so that's positive. Btw, check out the supplement astaxanthin recommended for eyes. They say it's better for you than the lutein which has been marketed in eye supplements for years.

So, Twin's Mom, when this congregant sends something "ugly, sarcastic and downright mean", he remembers to cc you? My, what a thoughtful fellow. Do save that little bit of sunshine. Twins' Dad is quite right - don't internalize it! Regret is likely on the horizon for the fellow, and I doubt you have to help him reach it. You are much too busy, anyway - you have money to spend like a drunken sailor, and that takes time.

Harmony, I just don't get that, either. You would think there would be those hoping a job offer would come.

What kind of conference are you attending, OKay? Something about homeschooling? I think it is wonderful you are organizing LO's lessons so well.

I need to read BookSaver's interesting thoughts on motivation again. Yes, perhaps reward, with its positive spin, is the way to go.

I love a no-pressure trip to the libray, Elizabeth. Our closest one has little cubby/windowseat areas that are family-friendly, plus lots of big, hanging art by children. I've been grateful for it several times.

DD knew how much each piece of change would weigh out to -so had her classes figuring the math. They use EVERYTHING for learning! Her co-teacher did have a coin counter at home and kept forgetting to bring it. She's already been warned to expect an onslaught of change buckets tomorrow (the last day). So I'll go in and count change for the classes again in the morning. Money is certainly DIRTY! Right, Okay? Funny -as I left, DD said, "Bye, see you tonight, Mom". Kids: "That's Your Mom?!?!?!" Yeah, fortunately she has one.

Good thoughts, Booksaver. Have to suggest that to DD - reward for exemplary behavior (in the long haul). She IS extremely impulsive and says or does anything that comes to her mind. Usually not very appropriate! Her disciplines do match consequences with actions but DD does get very tired of the constant, constant battle. Know some is just plain being a teenager, but I've known lots of teens who are nowhere near this troublesome. Hard part for dd is that she deals with it all day and then comes home to worse every day. She gets very drained after a while and gd works on that.

Harriet, you have given me a good giggle for the day - will have to remember how much time that spending money takes! I doubt that this other guy has any regrets about his email - although he comes across as a very positive, happy guy, he clearly has some issues with expressing himself in a positive, ethical manner. To write this to a rabbi who deserves respect is beyond the bounds of decent behavior.

DH and I did our morning walk of about a mile this morning and I have done most of my exercises this morning. Rt. knee is protesting.

Time to do something around here. Just don't have the ambition. Maybe after a power nap, I'll get some energy. Right now just pooped!

I'm at Presbytery today and have a defined task so the day is going quickly. I'm not sure I'll finish the task by the time I should leave.

Dh decided at 8:15 to join me in the city for the day. Since I was planning on leaving in about 30 minutes and dh hadn't got dressed (let alone eaten) there was a scramble. On the plus side, he's doing all sorts of errands for me so saves me time later in the day. On the down side, I had to get my outfit for this evening ready and into the car since I'm no longer driving home to change and pick him up before leaving for a charity dinner tonight. So I was late to volunteering.

Anyway, it is a dreary day outside, so I'm glad I'm here where the mood is generally upbeat (despite one of the major churches in our Presbytery having a minor fire this morning.)

RE: Disciple & consequences. Consistency....consistency....consistency. I must repeat that to myself a dozen times a day. LO is so full of life and active that he can get himself into a situation in a "blink of the eye". I know they are totally different, but sometimes teenagers act just like 3 year olds.

Friday/Saturday is our state home school convention. It will be the first time I've attended one so I am going on the assumption it works like most other type of conventions. I have read through all the workshops and selected the ones i definitely want to attend. I think I can get everything done on Friday and won't need to attend Saturday. Hoping so!

Gas and electric are now marked in the yard. LO enjoyed the experience immensely and "helped" each one by putting the right color (red = electric, yellow = gas) flags where the professionals had spray painted the grass to mark where the lines were.

Picnic lunch is packed and ready to go. We are in waiting mode. MPB has 2 leaks that DH is working on. Hopefully it won't take too much longer. If it does, we will just have a picnic on our porch.

Today is the perfect day to work on the computer. It is overcast with sprinkles.
