Hi everyone. Well our little shower last evening didn't last long. We sure could use more rain. There is rain out in the gulf but it seems to be headed more north than east.

Dee... it's wonderful that dd's fundraiser raised so much money for the charity.

I can imagine how excited your dgniece's friend was. My ds#1 was seven when we learned he needed glasses. We had huge oak and maple trees near where we lived and on the way home he pointed up and said "Look mom, those trees have branches!" How wonderful that her friend will discover all sorts of new things now!

I just took a break for lunch and cuop. Today is carpet sweeping, dusting, kitchen detailing (counters & appliances). Back to it again >>>>>>>>

I've reached a HUGE milestone today. ALL paperwork/financial type cards are done! CAUGHT UP!! I'm so tickled that I just want to dance and shout. Now....the harder part....STAYing up-to-date.

Sent DH out to county office for paperwork. We were scrambling to catch up when we found out the paperwork was ready. Customer has given us an impossible time schedule for this job. Lots of telephone calls, and I made a trip out to put deposit down and order one part for DH. I put his lunch together in a hurry and sent him on his way. He'll be moving trucks around, I'll probably have to go help later.

About the minutes the other day. I had told our leader that I'd talked with another one of the ladies and was caught up to date. I meant that I knew what ministry stuff was happening that month. I guess she thought I meant everything I needed to do the minutes. Nobody took notes for me. I think someone should have done that. I guess I better not ever miss a meeting again.

We have 30 mph winds right now so when I was taking in a moving box that had gotten away from someone I thought I may have been able to fly.

The forecast for tonight is for 60 mph winds, hail the size of quarters, heavy rain, lightening and flooding.

Did fix neighbour's computer. Within 40 minutes she called because it was 'broken' again. There's a website that is breaking IE on her each time. This time she got more details. My sense is that switching to Chrome is the better option but she is in her 80's and I hate to switch browsers if I can avoid it. Most stuff is the same but little things are different and it can be confusing for me, so I hate to think how disconcerting she'll find it.

Aside from that, nothing done. My sister had an interesting blowup on Facebook with dd's friends over dd's investment question and I was reading the 293 comments attached to an article my sister quoted. My children know to listen politely to their aunt but to critically think for themselves. For instance, she wanted ds to change his savings account. Yes, the new account earns 50% more interest. In the time he'll need to invest that money, the extra money in his pocket adds up to $30. Is it worth it to go through all that paperwork and inconvenience for $30 over 2 years? He decided not.

My sister was telling dd to put retirement savings last. Spoken like someone who has a workplace pension. Dh and I don't have a workplace pension and put retirement savings first all our married life. And retired 8 years before she did! It is a matter of attitude. My sister feels that the system should take care of you and the lower one's retirement savings, the higher the payout from the government. I feel that if I can take care of myself, I should do so and not rely on the government to take care of me. My sister also is shocked that dd intends to stay home to raise her children. Once again, in my sister's mind, government should offer daycare and we all should take advantage of it. In my mind, people should raise their own children unless they have to go to work. Dd wants to stay home and continue to live without TV, a car, and a big house. If she is happy with that and can afford it, then she should do so.

At least my kids get exposed to both viewpoints and can decide for themselves how they will live their lives.

I'm home -just finally ate a bite of lunch. GD is watching TV told her (after she was NASTY to me) no computer until her Mom gets home. "Whatever....I don't care." Guess what neither do I. I'm sure she'll have a TALE to tell dd when she gets home. All I did was ask her (nicely -really) "T, what's your problem?" (She had not buckled up the whole ride home and that's a big No-No. I barely mentioned it when we got out of the car and I got -"Good to know". Sorry -complaint over.

Going to the musical at school in a couple of hours. Have no idea what dd is planning for dinner. Of course I'm not very hungry now. I may have a quick salad though.

Mailed dh's priority mail to him and also one to DGS7. Sent him large pictures I had of DS-R with his first race car and of him working the pit crew (NASCAR) in Richmond, VA. That was a while ago! Sure dgs will get a kick out of both getting mail just for him and of the pictures of his Dad.

Think I'll read (in my room natually) till dd gets home. Teachers are so "overpaid" right, Cowinkie, LucyLee? She starts her day by 7 and doesn't get home from school until after 5 usually -sometimes it's 6 or 7. (She's 6 miles from home, but goes way out of the way in the morning to gd to her 'ride'. Logs over 30 miles every morning.) I don't even think SHE realizes how much extra she does for all her students. Know it's going to be rougher on her once I leave because then she has to find a way to get gd picked up by 3/3:10 -she has duty until at least 3:30. School is a good 12 miles (if not more) from her school. Just meandering here.
If it hadn't been for us helping her out and the baby shower coming up next week, I would have left to go north weeks ago.

I am home with dd - actually took a nap once I got in. Seems like I'm getting sleepy whenever I drive a distance - may need adjustment on my meds? I nearly lost it with dd - she had packed quite a bit but there was a lot of random stuff laying around and in drawers still and room was a mess. I don't like cleaning up behind her at home, and certainly shouldn't do it at school! We needed to sweep, vacuum and damp mop - lots of small trash on floor that I didn't want sucked into the vacuum. Didn't see dd's roommate, who dd reports is living in boyfriend's dorm room mostly and just coming in for clothes, etc. now.

Ds is tomorrow - the difference between my kids is remarkable - they both are so unique. Ds didn't want boxes to pack, preferring to use....wait for it..... garbage bags for packing! OTOH, I reminded him that he must clean his room before he leaves, and he is already doing that today.

Another day in which I've done relatively little at home - although driving four hours, helping dd pack and loading stuff into car was a pretty big job. Dh is out tonight (open house at his office, which just moved into new a new building.) Dd and need to unload the car, also. Going to try for a couple of rounds - left the house this morning at 7 a.m. so did very little except to get ready and go.

-reboot laundry
-clear kitchen counters
-put away a large basket of laundry
-make up the bed
-do some more garage sweeping and try to clear an area to unload dd's boxes.

Harriet, before I forget, thanks for letting me know about Astaxanthin. I will read up on that.

Today DH had his pre-op for prostate surgery next Wednesday. I will start my prep on Monday for colonoscopy on Tuesday. Wish we would have thought out these appointments better. I will be at the hospital with him all day on Wednesday and I am not looking forward to it.

Took the Money Pit hotrod from the transmission shop over to the brake shop today. I don't know why we ever got this thing. One thing after another.

Dee, you are a better person than I am! I would not put up with that for a second. I'm sure you will be glad to get back north. Good Luck!
