I also had much-interrupted sleep.

I realize that I take great comfort in HRH. He drives me crazy in many ways, and I roll my eyes about him every day. But when I get worried or anxious, he's the one I want to talk to. I also take great comfort in dd13, who is still enough of a child to make me feel very important in her eyes, but now enough of a budding young lady that she's great help and company when we are out in the world. I am comforted to see her beginning to take comfort in her faith.

There must be a lot of comfort in this village for me, too, because I don't think I would turn my computer on so faithfully every morning if all I had to look forward to was news and weather!!! As it is, I feel strange if I can't "drop in" here and find the comfort of familiar voices. I had occasion to "search" a website I frequented for a few months until my mother got so sick, and find the few long threads on which I had posted and chatted. That was good for me - I gleaned some wisdom from myself, lol. It was a nice group of people, too. But their interest was specific, and therefore fleeting, and did not include interest in each other, really. When checking their profiles, I found that even though the site had grown, the people I remember weren't posting any more. So the type of connection we have here is very comforting.

c2c, as my ddad and I turned around on his walk and started back toward the house yesterday, I think I felt comfort in walking near my house, too. I don't think it's comfort in the building, but comfort in the family/home.

Kathryn mentioned snuggly things are comforting. A couple years ago I posted in A, C and N thread a study that showed people taken into a strange room would gravitate toward a quilt. No matter where a quilt was placed in an unfamiliar room, subjects tended to sit or stand near it. Yay, textiles! :)

Is this too high a horse? Ya'll may need to get me down from here... ...
I was shocked last night as HRH was watching "Undercover Boss" on TLC, to see that Sub Way has started heavy sponsorship of that show where 4 women all say they are married to that one man, and he goes from one to another, has children with 3. This was a "Sub Way brings you ________ at (time and date)" specific sponsor-show link. ??? Am I crazy, or is it a shock Sub Way would so directly align themselves with a program about illegal and extremely questionable life choices for women/girls? HRH said I was over-reacting. (I don't mean to be questioning religion. I'm questioning ANYONE showcasing illegal things, plus what I consider the sexist suggestion of a man shown as this type of patriarch while the women of the same family are shown expecting to settle for quarter-marriages.) Sub Way is dd13's favorite-favorite restaurant by FAR. I really need them to be the company I think they are... ...

I made the DPC. eeewwww. Nice to have those type of things out of the way.

Dee, I hope you get it all fitted in and have a wonderful safe trip. How many hours does it take you?

Wow, Indiana that is a lot of rain. Too bad about the birds' nests. I guess they will have to rebuild.

Hello to C2C.
Oh, I did that this morning. My hair is still wet but I'm dressed. Desk chores done. Must run to bank again. New bank is very close.

Going to clean house a bit. Sweeper is next.

Oh, comfort. I feel great comfort when the house is clean, after the cleanup that is. But for the moment of comfort, I guess a cup of coffee; sitting on one of the porches watching the rain; naps of course.

HaHa editing to rephrase my C2C oh I did that, no, I S2S! Wrong letters!

Harriet, I so agree with you about the comfort of this village. I know I will miss being here while we are on our trip. I look forward each day to keeping up on everyones lives, even when I don't have time to comment, I am thinking of each of you as I read.

Comfort..... I am hoping to get comfort from having my glasses adjusted. I have already been to the eye dr. this am to have that taken care of. The trouble is I bought new glasses last June that have the magnetic clip-ons. My RX had changed so little the eye dr. told me I could continue to use the last pair of glasses and sunglasses, also. I noticed yesterday that I was really having an issue. I couldn't tell which pair was the culprit, so I took them all in. She didn't think it was the sunglasses but adjusted the other 2 pairs. It is so sore and tender that I can't tell if it helped or not. At least I have all week to see if there is improvement before we leave for our trip. All I knew was that I sure didn't want to deal with it while we are away from home.

Called the pest control place yesterday and they never returned my call, so I have called again. I sure hope they can get to it this week.

I have a hair appt. today at noon. I colored my hair yesterday. Slowly I am chipping away at that list.

Guess I better see how much cleaning I can get done before I need to leave.

Bug guy called and they can be here at 11 on Thursday. Dh just knew that they wouldn't be able to work us in. I am going to go with a quarterly or every other month plan. We don't leave dirty cups and plates all over the house like dd2 kids do, so that will help not attract critters especially ants. I just can not do ants, mice or roaches.

This is the time of year for a miller/moth migration and they are bad this year. Everytime you open a door, some fly in. The news said they should be gone in a few weeks, so hopefully by the time we get back, they will have moved on.

Good morning! I made lots of progress on yesterday's list. I finished and sent the paperwork, adjusted the sprinkler timing, got the check ready to mail, picked up and cleaned up, even folded laundry which wasn't on the list. I worked with the foster cat too. I did not inventory my closet to see what I need to get for the trip (probably just t-shirts).

Tonight, I need to put out sheets for the maids to put on the beds and put away anything I don't want moved. I also need a sign on the sewing room door not to let the cat out or the other cats in.

For comfort, nothing beats prayer. You get the immediate relief of confiding in Someone and He can actually help.

Got all my Tuesday Kitchen chores done, plus the ironing and watered the plants. And I used the electric broom on most of the upper main floor and on the stairs to the basement. So that part of the house looks better.

I'm at McDonald's now for a quick lunch. Good diet choices have gone out the window this week. (Even at McDonald's one can make better choices than I made today.) I'm watching a grandmother in the play area with her grandkids, climbing up inside the playtubes and realizing that 1) she probably never actually eats here and 2) she has more energy than I do. She's in amazing shape and I didn't realize at first that she was the grandma because from behind she looks 20 (and can easily get away with wearing yoga pants in public!)

Now, it is time to head over to Presbytery and work on 'destroying the library' as the long-time volunteer calls it.

I'm doing much better than I thought I would (isn't thaat usually the way?). Accomplished a lot. Went through (flipping rapidly) 5 different bags, files, etc and slimmed that down to two and am leaving the others here. At least I'll know where to send DD if I DO need something I've missed. I'm also leaving my laptop here and only taking my small computer.

DH and I are seriously considering not having cable re-connected this summer. Not only will it be a savings, but also something less to mess with.
I realize that I take great comfort in HRH. He drives me crazy in many ways, and I roll my eyes about him every day. But when I get worried or anxious, he's the one I want to talk to.
Oh yes! Harriet. This 6 weeks without dh is getting to me and I'm ready for a reunion! Have no idea what dd will do about getting gd from school, but she'll figure it out. She's in a quandry now because the school has convinced her to go to the National TSA competition at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Her problem is what to do with gd during that time. She certainly doesn't want to leave her with DSonIL and then have to come back here to get her. It's a 2-day trip back and then another 2 days up north. But, with prayer, she'll figure it out. Something will come along.

Guess I better go through the boxes in the office now and see if I can leave any of that behind. Have to leave in about 90 minutes to pick up gd.

Takes us about 21 hours (drive time- that includes stops for gas, etc) to get home, Harmony. We'll knock off almost 2 of that by staying overnight at DB's at the Villages. I feel very guilty that we haven't made it up there all winter. Have to wonder why -do remember dh being ill for several weeks. And we've been pretty tied down 'fetching' gd.

Hmmmm.......I was just getting ready to leave to pick up gd when she called me from her friend's cell phone. Told me this friend's mom is bringing her home (supposedly here). I said, "And your mom knows this?" Answer: "Yeah." NOT. So dd is calling the school to see what's happening. Meantime I'm waiting to leave. I can't imagine why this mom would be bringing her home since they live a good 1/2 hour in the opposite direction from school, making it almost 30 minutes here and then nearly an hour for her to go back home. And gd is going to this home to stay beginning tomorrow night. I'm sure they're 'cooking something up.' And chances are they will be very tired of each other within 3 days and they have 6! The poor mother..... :?

Hi - a very sunny day here! Been busy cleaning lately - kinda late Spring cleaning - because with all the wonderful light shining in the house the dirt and dust shows up. Doing a little every day and decluttering the obvious when I come across it.

Off to the adventures!

Ah, the old spring cleaning. I remember I used to do that. Used to go through the whole house deep cleaning everything, moving all the furniture out, washing all the blinds, curtains, etc. etc. Now I do it more as I go along and as I see the need. Still, it was nice to see the house all spit and polished everywhere at once. However did I find the time to do all that at once?

Oh, Dee, 21 hours is a lot of driving. I'm glad you won't be alone.

Productive day here so far. Got sympathy card and checks in the mail. Went to bank. Took DH to jobsite so he could bring his big truck home. Stayed there a few minutes to help him do a couple little things.

Vacuumed the living areas of the house. Mopped those rooms. Did not do the office or our bedroom. Picked up messes in the dining/sewing room and kitchen. Looks better in here for sure. Put my heat rollers in for a bit. I look so glamorous.

Proposal typed, scanned, emailed to company. Fingers crossed. I guess that's it so far today.
