Tuesday the Mid-Point of May

Post by Harriet »

We reach the mid-point of May today - well, tonight. :)
How is your month going? Are there May goals to revisit, things you intend to get accomplished this month?
Or are you so amazed by how much you've done in May you think you should slow down?
Assuming there's plenty to do, what will you schedule for our new week that takes us into May's second half?

Mid-May?  Um, that is my initial response.

May goals still to accomplish:
1. Start the process of buying dd13 her own oboe.
2. Organize a graduation open house for ds18, be be held in late June.
3. Organize some details for dparents' anniversary party in early June. Namely, order flowers and do something with photos.
4. Keep the moms group organized for the last 2 meetings of the year, both of which are different from the norm.
5. Celebrate ds' birthday, which was in late March.
6. Celebrate dd13's birthday, which is in 2 weeks.

This week, besides the extra meetings and concert on my calendar, I hope to:
- call in an order of flowers for my parents anniversary
- figure out which oboe person to go with and initiate contact; I need to sit down with dd13 to do this.
- agree with ds and the rest of the family on a date for ds' graduation open house.
- moms group Thursday: finish confirming good byes to be said this week, figure out thank you gifts for child care workers and take care of that.
- finally celebrate ds' birthday on Friday

I hope to bbl with accomplishments to post. I am s2s, have sent out one moms group email, have sent out one small group email, have tidied the kitchen - need to finish unloading the dw.

Oh! My! May is half gone???!!?!!
I have got to get moving as we are due to go on the road May 31!!

Yesterday we got one last Dr. appointment out of the way and have our med scripts for the next year. I also let him know that it was unacceptable to take a whole week to get a referral from him for DH's PT. He apologized.

Since we received our bi-weekly mail yesterday - I need to log in the EOBs and bills and get them handled.

Then I plan on spending some time in the den getting more unpacked and put away.

We have walked our mile and had breakfast this morning - so that is out of the way.

Hope you all have a good day.

My foot is great today! I got up when h.'s alarm went off this morning and got the chairs put way from the dinner on the lawn last night with dd & family that when excellent! Walked in the field while it was/is still cool out. It hit 90* here yesterday! That's too hot to walk at our regular time! We saw a couple of deer bedded down in someone's side yard on our walk. To hot to walk at that time with these temps. so glad I"m done with that today! I got the laundry going last tub is in the dryer.

My cold is 75-90% better today yea!

I got the laminate swept in the kit. dining room and hall, swept up the seeds on the driveway and in the trash. The trash is at the curb.

I have granny duty in a whie soon as I pick dgd up from preschool. Dgson is coming here after school today.

I might need more summer Capri's so I"ll be on the look out for those.
I think we had a break through with him in math I got a math quiz thing it's a game that opens up like a fan and has questions 4th-6th grade age range and he was quizzing us at dinner.
The other day [Fri.] I was quizzing him and he liked that!

I finished reading a book yesterday. Have another one going; bio about the real life horse whisperer it's excellent!

Last night's dinner was great with the KFC we had muffins that I made in the morning that were left for the grand kids; veggies in the crock pot a low carb. option for those of us that wanted that, ice cream at outside in the shade enjoying the flowers lawn and kids played in the play house! A B.B.Q. at the church this Sun. we will remember some of these things that worked.

This week I've been having veggies in my omlette trying to get more veg. in my eating seems to be helping.
Looking ahead to June and summer h. asked about plans for our ann. so I"m thinking on that idea he shared. Another thing we will be putting on our schedule is going to the farm he needs to do some stuff along the fence line I'm going to see if there are any more bulbs plants I want from his granny's old garden. It's fun to show kids and grand kids things I got there!

Good morning! Succesful missions yesterday: long black skirt found and bought ($18!!!), antenna purchased and installed, groceries gotten. I did not update Quicken, but today is payday. We get paid once a month on the 15th. This has been an expensive month. The bills came in from DD10's broken wrist and she is on a high deductible plan, so I had half of that. Tonight is Girls' Night Out. I have a month and a half until my cruise. I still need to arrange shore excursions and inventory my closet to see if I need to buy anything (probably not). YIKES!!! I could use more sleep today. Tonight I need to remember to put the trash out.

I am shocked to think May is half over. I am behind in my major goal for this year.

Well, dailies are done, but not much else. I don't have any real plans for today. Just catching up on stuff around here. Desk chores have been light, though the bills will be rolling in soon from this current project. I'm hoping today stays quiet.

Hoping we may hear from Dee today.

Mid-month is big exam week here.

Having stayed up fretting over dd's math prep for today's EOGs (End Of Grades), I awoke to my chore of trying to get her to eat a protein breakfast again. (Yesterday she insisted on macaroni and cheese!) Today she was determined that a slice of pizza was the thing, so I gave in partly but insisted on at least the protein drink. You see, their lunches are postponed and they sit in the same seat for 3 hours, so not only do we want to have a lunch that won't make her feel sluggish (hence my determination she have protein), we also want one that will stick to her ribs (hence her determination to have carbs).

Yesterday she said even after the macaroni and cheese she had a moment with a loud stomach growl :o that would have embarrassed her except she kept her head down like everyone else and assumes no one knew whose stomach it was!!!! Yesterday she also had a seat-cramp when she finally arose from the hard chair! Oh well, it's good to be young - they can get away with it.

HRH stayed with me this morning as it was my ddad's bloodwork day. I learned a bunch of stuff from the magazines in the waiting room, btw, and wrote some down for the villagec.

After that, we tried the grocery store, and though that was mostly okay a couple things went wrong. I think my ddad got over-tired and I actually got a little sick (tummy) in the grocery. I hope that it was something I ate last evening - I do have a culprit in mind. But we'll have to see if I'm over it. HRH insisted on McDonalds on the way home and I was too queasy to object when he said I needed comfort food. So the diet is out the window for the sake of a comfortable tummy. Cheeseburger, heavy on the bread. :) :? :|

Back home I've done little more strenuous than lying in the brief sun before more thunderstorms. Last night lightning knocked out water pump offline!!!

Hello Ladies,

Another sunny day here.

Dson 24 called and said he is having a good time with friends. Travel went smoothly, thank you for prayers.

DH had vehicle #1 yesterday when it broke down. Thankfully it was close by. Called me to drive vehicle #2 there and he towed it home. They worked on it yesterday and now it is fine again.

Dson 22 is also ripped out the carpet in his room and is putting down vinyl tiles there. DH and Dson 22 are both in Kansas today for a job so the floor will have to wait.

Back is acting up today :( and got spasms in my right leg again. So taking things slowly but moving along. I love the new dog collars we have for the dogs. It's the zapping ones and the dogs learned quickly what not to do so we don't have to use the zapper part. They respond to the tone part of it nicely. I like them because I don't have to put leashes on them and try to walk them. I can walk at my own pace while they run around and play.

Watched DWTS last night and saw where Katherine Jenkins back went out. Looked very upsetting and painful for her.

Going to try and clean the fridge today, bathrooms and floors. That's the goals, let see how I do.

Thinking of Okay and LO and hoping things are going ok court-wise.

Have a great day all!

It is a gorgeous day here today! Sunny, clear skies, 80* with a breeze. Hmm.... I may need to wear shorts to go jogging this afternoon. I just hope I don't horrify too many with my unshaven gorilla legs.

Glad ds' travel went well, Sadie.

Done!
x a.m. routine
x washing material for dd13's next sewing project
x moms group emails done; still waiting back for replies
x sheets on MBR bed changed and dd13's room tidied (the current MBR until workers are finished in the real MBR)
x checked online bills; nothing due
x lunch and progress in book club book, a good one! A collection of short stories by a Chinese American author.

Next:
-weeding for an hour
-start crockpot with chili for dinner
-welcome kids home from school
-dd13 to oboe lesson, leaving here around 4:30: I'm going to ask ds if he can take dd13 to her oboe lesson since dh would like to go jogging with me. If ds can't do that, then I'll go jogging before the lesson. Thus, dinner needs to be ready to go early in the afternoon b/c I wouldn't be back from her lesson much before 6 pm.
-eat around 6 when dd13 should be back from her lesson
-get dd13 to the school by 7 for the band concert tonight at 7:30

Dd16 has a volunteer commitment this afternoon, but I think dfriend is taking her there and back w/ her dd15.

I hope the math exam went well, for dd, Harriet! Final exams here are the 2nd week of June for dd16, the first week of June for dd13 (8th graders graduate June 8th and then board a bus for the annual 8th grade trip to Washington DC the morning of June 11 - capstone to a year of US History), and I don't know when for ds. High school graduation is June 6 for him. Dd13 does have her Latin exam across 2 days next week, I believe.

Breakfast: 3 years ago dh insisted that I stop making breakfast (and lunches) for the kids b/c they were old enough to do that on their own. The cumulative result is that the girls now don't eat any breakfast at all, and dd16 packs a crummy snack for lunch. She does eat hearty protein-filled after school snacks, though. Dd13 will walk to school with her mug full of milky tea so that is a (very little) something, and she packs excellent lunches, often taking leftovers from dinner the night before. There are always various granola/other bars and cereal available for a quick grab-and-eat breakfast, but the girls don't have morning tummies, I guess. I'm not thrilled with the situation. Ds is another creature; he would never dream of missing a meal. :)

Out I now go into the glorious day! We have a crop of very impressive weeds by the forested area of our property.

I tidied up the house. Such a short sentence, such a lot of work. Took half the afternoon. Folded all the clean laundry hanging about. Soup is heating, DH is still not home. I cannot imagine the hard work this long day for him. It is hot and muggy outside.

We had a nice hard shower last evening. Grateful for small blessings. Water in any amount around here is a blessing.
