Good morning, OKay!
I was thinking on those terms also... thinking about passing the mid-point of the month and how I've had NO GOALS and certainly no progress towards them. Like they say, if you don't know where you're going, you'll probably get there.
So... time for a re-boot for lucylee. Today I'll be thinking about some goals for the remainder of the month.
EXERCISE has to be one of them. For waaay too long, my only exercise in the evenings has been (1) lift footrest on recliner (2) unfold afghan (3) unfold paper (4) read -- nap -- repeat.
This is getting me nowhere fast.
Also wishing Cowinkie much happiness in her retirement! Congratulations! I know there must be special stars for the crowns of special ed teachers. (((BIG HUGS))) for (((Cowinkie)))!!!

Re: Wednesday - New beginnings!
At church last Sunday, LO was being his typical self - making his rounds to give hugs and shake hands with his many mentors. He enjoys talking to every person who has the slightest interest in having a conversation with him.
I walked into the kitchen as he was finishing up a conversation with someone that he hasn't talked with before. She turned to me and said ....... "You know he needs speech therapy, don't you?" I was stunned, but immediately receptive to hearing more. She went on to tell me the big-word-terms of what was wrong with his speech. She must have seen the don't-have-a-clue-what-you-are-saying look on my face because then she put it into terms that I could understand - he isn't pronouncing the ends of his words. She went on to share her background (education) and years of experience in this area. She said she could teach me how to help him (using a sponge to strengthen the muscles that are weak.....etc) but since we live an hour apart from each other, it would probably be better to find him someone closer to work with him on a weekly basis. I'm very thankful for her sharing this, because my ears are so used to his speech that it sounds "normal" to me.
I came home and googled his age and symptoms of his speech. One of the causes of this is not being able to hear. I remember his hearing developement was one of the big concerns about being such a preemie. Soooooo - yesterday i called and discussed it with LO doctor. Today LO doctor will see LO to make sure his ears are okay (no fluid, etc) and help devise a plan to go forward.

RE: Goals & focuses....
I just reviewed my list of May projects and focuses. This month has 19. Nine are completed. Three are in process. Three are waiting for a date to arrive (graduations/trail ride). That leaves 4 that are waiting time/attention.
** lose 8 lbs
** set up monthly tax cards
** stock fish for ponds
** bathtub wall repair/renovation
The lose weight focus has me groaning in complete failure. I should post on the health thread, but ....but....but....what could I say that I haven't said a 1000000 times before? Why can I succeed in other areas but completely fail in this one? OH YEAH....I remember the reason I don't post about my weight. It is depressing. Who wants to think/read depressing failures. Not me. I think I will just continue to ignore it and pretend it will solve itself. Yeah....that hasn't been working for me, but it is the easiest thing to do.......short term anyway.

Re: Wednesday - New beginnings!
tonight I went to " fedup.com.au " roadshow. I spoke to a dietitian later and was disappointed in her response that sweet potato and potato were the same ...
Not the same family. Or maybe what I've been told is cabbage allergy is the pesticides (Not the same reaction to every other food subjected to pesticides. OH well - I doubt I'll take my dietry oddities to her if I need explain and argue about the extras that I react to. I think current reaction may be herbal teas I've been having. What I did find out was that coeliac problems can cause anemia - which I used have (not now) and both dds have . I wonder if they will listen to me? The story of iron supplements forever was told to me too. I bought the book anyway. Hoping it has some up to date food lists in it. I'm an old Feingold diet person - and follow that with all the extra nos I've collected over time. I did get current info on the # additives that prove bannible.
OKay - I took dd#2 to a speech therapist when she was 3 or 4 - who decided it was within normal limits for the age she was. Gave us some ideas for a few missing bits. Though she had intermittant undx'd deafness we didn't know about at the time - enough to learn to lip read without us knowing. Also her mouth- tongue, throat was always swollen - now I know that to be food reactions. That includes the ear problems - they were food related too.
I hope you get some good results as things right themselves.
Waving to lucylee and all the villagers visiting today.
Cowinkle - happy last day at the coal face

Re: Wednesday - New beginnings!
OKay, I post in H and F with the good and the bad, but
to admit I do rush over there when there is a little good news. But it's not all about the scale, anyway. Good health and fitness habits are worth chatting about for their own merit.
OKay, I guess you realized when you posted about LO today that I would be reading it twice. We wish now SO MUCH that someone in the medical field would have cared enough or paid enough ATTENTION to DangerBoy to notice his partial hearing loss, which should have been caught at birth and later as well, and, yes, speech that wasn't on par with age was a clue. So BRAVO to your friend for noticing in passing what others have not mentioned. I would be delighted to give you more info they (dd32 family) have learned about help at certain ages, what their ultimate cause was determined to be, etc.
I have been interrupted over and over again just trying to post this much. So this is not happening. Must hit submit
Watching for Dee. Watching for Indiana. Wearing party hat for Cowinkie BBL
Lynlee, a dietician there actually told you sweet potatoes are the same as potatoes? In what way - shape? You would do better talking to a gardener. Sorry, but she would have lost credibility with me. lol. So glad you got to go to the event, find a book and have the experience. You already know so much you would be the authority on your reactions to certain foods.

Re: Wednesday - New beginnings!
Congratulations Cowinkie! Wow! What adventures are next?
Twins, did ds decide to go? That sounds like a really great opportunity.
I need to be like Harmony yesterday, fewer words, more work.
Good morning lucylee and others to come. Good afternoon - evening - to Lynlee.
((OK)) You are a true inspiration with your cards!! Yeah, Harriet said it - good health and fitness are what it's about.
Is Indiana OK? Yes, waiting for Dee.
Hope your day has fewer interruptions here on out, Harriet.
Dh left early this a.m. for a quick trip to Calif. Funding, I think. Ds is home listening to opera and now Bolero for his (school) music test tomorrow while doing some last minute studying for his AP exam this afternoon. The workers have not arrived yet. THey're not going to be finished by Friday. But they're close and it looks terrific!
My day is pretty hairy 12:30 on.
12:30 Dfriend will be here to walk.
3:00 pick up dd13 and friend from school
3:15 leave for quick 3:30 appt. for dd16 and dd13 at the Dr.'s office - shots
4:30 leave to take dd16 to a friend's house for a 5 pm get-together of her girls' small group. The house is about 25 minutes drive. I'll get home around 5:30.
5:45 leave to take dd13 and her friend to field hockey practice, 6 - 7:30
I will stay and get in my jog around the practice field. It is a flat neighborhood. I'm a wimp when it comes to hills. I might also make a run to Target.
7:30 - take dd13's friend to the church for youth group.
Take dd13 home; she has too much homework due tomorrow to go to youth group.
Turn around at 8:15 to go pick up dd16 from church youth group. (The girls small group will be transported to the church after the get-together.)
9:00 HOME to stay. *phew*
Um, there's really no room for cooking dinner in there, so I'll go with another meal in the crockpot. I'm hoping to get that in between walking with dfriend and leaving to pick up dd13 and friend from school Dd13 and friend will have to serve themselves while I'm dropping of dd16. Ds has a haircut appt. at 5, so he'll be on his own.
Dd13 and dfriend take turns going home with each other and then to field hockey practice and church youth group. This is our week, which is actually a good thing because next time, we can't drive b/c of ds' hs music banquet.
Before all this, I need to get gifts for the moms group child care workers. I may just do gift cards, fast and easy and they can get what they want.

Re: Wednesday - New beginnings!
WOW Okay! You blow me away. Normal reaction would be to be offended at the lady. But not you. You listened, did your own research, and are getting more advice. You are such a great lady. Your children and grandchildren are so blessed.
DH and I went for our walk before it got hot. It is in the high 80's already and it is only just 7 am. We will have a cooldown on Friday and Sat and then back in the triples again.
We can't smell any smoke but the air is very hazy here from the fires north of us. It makes for pretty sunsets but I love to see the mountains when the air is clear.
Today is more of the same - sorting, filing, throwing and storing. I found the floor in front of the closets in the den now so DH can fix the closet door. That will help a lot in getting things stored away.
I have to start making a file box to take with us with medical reports/x-rays, EOB and paid bills in case there is a question and important papers like Passports, deeds, vehicle registrations, etc. Must remember to put in my notebook that has phone numbers and addresses of those I might have to contact.
Thursday night we are having dinner with the lady who will check on our place during the summer so I have to get a key ring ready for her with phone numbers, PO Box number, etc.
I think it was easier when all we owned was in our 5th wheel and we just cruised down the road.

Re: Wednesday - New beginnings!
Dgson had some hearing probs. when he was young and was in speech therapy, he talks fine now but was in his own world for too long so that may be some of his probs. with school. They've been having testing this week. Timed math tests stuff he knows he did not do well on b/c he was in a hurry or distracted! Ack! I hate tests btw... dgson forgot his home work packet so he could not work on that and was too distracted to read much but did write a poem. sigh moving on.
My BS is great today.
Breakfast is done.
I need to s2s x
Granny duty is in a bit.
Dgd planted a pumpkin in the garden spot I got the squash in so that was productive.
Also planted oregano and tomato seeds just for fun!
Had a great day yesterday until the afternoon the heat is effecting us kids were not getting on so well and they are ready for summer and for school to be out.
I've been reading.
