Well, I hit something and just lost a whole post! Wonder what I wrote.

Last night's potluck was totally carb laden, as I feared. We had macaroni salad, pasta with sauce, turkey/pasta soup thing, turkey/rice dish, another pasta, my rice/jambalya and 1 more -can't think. Guess I'll start searching for some non-carb dishes for potluck. Finally realized about 9 that I never took my P.M. meds. Took them then and an extra vitamin D. BS was 136 this morning so guess it could have been much worse.--

Still have heard nothing from my dsis as to burial arrangements for dniece, etc. She is waiting for a time to be 'convenient' for her ex husband. Her other 2 children (and she) are not too happy about all of that. Dniece will be buried in my dsis'/dbil's plot, next to my Mom & Dad. I haven't been close to this niece in a number of years, but find myself feeling sad about the whole situation from time to time. Such a waste.

Have to go tomorrow to get my new Driver's license. It expires on Thursday. Mobile DMV is in different towns Tues, Wed, Thurs and it just happens to be in town -about 15 miles from here on Wed. Hoping to pass the eye exam without my glasses, but am dubious about that.

Time to shower and s2s and get sprucing up the RV. Have to do a PODA first.

That is so true... and that is why I keep talking about it... trying to make my mind adjust to it!
Yesterday, some of my students were telling me how awful this next class is -- they really do have a reputation -- and I said, "Well, just tell them how awful I am. I am REALLY going to be awful next year, b/c it's my last chance! EVERYTHING I keep intending to do w/my classes, I HAVE to do next year, b/c it's my last shot at it!"

Wish I had some wise, comforting words for you, Dee... I know this must be sooo hard to watch your dsis deal with the loss of a child now... (((BIG HUGS))) & prayers for all of you.

Many here are thinking about retirement. I'm toying with the idea of going back into the work force, very part time. . . . .

Question: I just checked weather underground and in one spot it says we are forecast to get up to 99* on Friday. That is so unusual - and somewhat isolated - I wonder if it is an error. The days surrounding, the highs are supposed to get into the mid-upper 80s. Does anyone else have a predicted spike in temp on Friday?? It just looks odd - and in another spot, the forecast is around 83 all the way through the week. I'm just curious; either way, my question will be answered on Friday!

9:30 coffee with a new friend, the grandmother of one of dd13's friends; I accidentally backed into her car a few weeks ago. Thus, we got to meet and become friends! LOL! --I wouldn't recommend a car accident as a way of initiating a friendship, however. She is clearly of a different generation, so the get-together should be interesting and hopefully thrilling. She is going to show me her flower gardens! I am gardening-challenged. I made some banana bread last night to share.

12-3 Help at the high school with band uniform (tuxedos and evening gowns) returns. That should be thrilling too; I like high school kids.

4:45 - 5:30 dd13's oboe lesson

So, I have a little over an hour at home between helping at the high school and before I need to leave to take dd13 to her oboe lesson. I may have about the same between coffee and leaving for the school. . . .Not much time at home today. That's OK; Wednesday is quite open.

It's a somewhat long story, but I punted the chicken marsala recipe to tonight for various reasons. We will need to eat not too late b/c dh has church elders meeting - I think he is skipping his ceramics class tonight. So, I'll probably need to do some dinner prep before the oboe lesson.

Off to the a.m. routine!

It looks like today will be chauffeuring dkids. DD spent last night with a friend, and I'm going to meet her downtown in a few to get her home. At noon I need to have the two of them downtown for lunch with the rabbi and, hopefully, after that to go pick up dd's car and she will be mobile again. Ds' friend Z has access to a parental car (his dad is out of the country for a summer trip) so perhaps he will be useful as well.

Whoops, this didn't get posted before I left. I'm back after picking up dd; Moses is the happiest dog anywhere 'cause he went for a ride.

Hi there, everyone. Dd13 and I barely made the school run well at all today! You would have all had a giggle at us.

At the last moment, I insisted on editing her report on Mark Twain to include a birthplace (see how helpful I am?). Beyond the last moment, I realized I'd typed "Mississippi" and not "Missouri" (and used it on 2 pages - see how useless I am? ), so I drove her crazy reprinting her report twice this a.m. to get one word edited. But it's kind of an important word! The continuing problem is that she now has both reports in her bookbag, with a 50-50 chance of handing in "Mississippi"! Hope she remembers to double check. Even as she already had a foot out of the car door at school, I remembered lunch money, and no, she didn't have any! I handed her what I hope was 3 ones! LOL! Even she doesn't know - just stuffed it into a pocket and ran. She may have a couple tens and a receipt... ... We are SO together.

I nearly threw my ddad out the door just now, insisting that he take a walk today. He has to walk this early or it is too hot for him, and he keeps forgetting and missing his opportunity. He read the newspaper very carefully this morning and recited to me an article on hepatitis fears for baby boomers. He really reads very well, but it must be short reads that he can finish in one sitting, because the next day, or even after the next nap, he may not remember what he read, or may not even remember that he read.

Cicely is so broody now that she will fall over rather than budge from the nest. She puffs herself up twice normal size and screeches like a jungle bird when I reach under for eggs. Nutty as a fruitcake, and convinced she's making babies, which is completely impossible. I may have to look up on the net how to "break" hens of broodiness, but as I recall, it sounded mean.

I have more DPCs.

I am THRILLED to be home and be able to visit the village. We arrived home last night about 6. I spent the evening unpacking. I have to put away the luggage and I have a mountain of laundry. I haven't had time to cuop. The next 3 days will be busy. Dd2 decided while we were gone to go ahead and go to Dallas for training for her new business. She was able to find daycare for the 2 little girls during the day. Then I will just have to pick them up and keep them until dsonilaw comes in from the farm. I will probably just take them home because I will also have dgd15 and I know she would rather be at home. This is the first time dgd1 has ever experienced daycare and it has been over a year since dgd2 1/2 has been in daycare. They are really going to miss their mommy. She will be gone 3 days and 2 nights.

We had a great time but there truly is no place like home. I need to go pick up the accumulated mail at the PO, buy groceries and and and.....

I will try to get cuop and post as I can. I sure missed all of you!

It is pouring hard, hard, hard here. Hope dh is under cover. We've had nearly an inch in the last 20 minutes. We do need it and hoping it spreads to some areas where it is direly needed!

I just put the last 6 months worth of BS counts in the computer. There were some 'bad' ones, but for the most part it looks pretty durn good! I'm just hoping for a more average result for my A1C when I go back to the Dr. next month.

I was going to go for a short walk -that is before the rain began. I'm sure it's off for a while. Won't even be able to walk when it stops until some of the rain (big) puddles go away in the roadways. Roads are all dirt (and usually quite dusty) so puddles form quickly. Hardly ever pays to have our car washed as it's all dusty within 2 days. Well, everything's getting a good washing this morning!

Been checking off things on my PODA -all I can think of is Okay and her multitude of cards. If I ever counted -the individual tasks I'm sure I'd know where her numbers come from.

Supposed to go to DGS7's lacrosse game at 6:30. Sure hope it dries up some before then. Not sure if they play in the rain or not -at least at their age level.

Good to see you again, Lilac! You're right -no place like home. Can't believe how much I'm enjoying being back north. I feel like a big sigh when I drive by the plowed fields, etc.

What is thrilling for me on Tues. is thinking about dgd's track met that we watched her leg to 1st place they won that one! Jr. hi track meets now remind me of the sr. hi. ones that I was in. I was not as good as she is but fun to experience that in real life rather than a photo on fb! I remember I did the high jump it was my soph-jr. year. I liked track as it was about the individual ability of each student for the most part unlike basketball.

Today I've rolled out the trash to the curb for pick up it's dry out so must have blew in the night some time to have dried off that much.
