Gentle Sunday

I am being very gentle on my self today. We are having a very poor air quality day.

But more importantly today is Sunday and it is the day I just relax.

Can you be gentle on yourself today or is your agenda full?

I wish I could just relax and take it easy today, but I'm expected at payroll..LOL It will be a quiet day, though, as we're closed to the public, and use the time to catch up on admin work. At home, there's critters to care for, a couple of loads of laundry to finish up, and some work to do in the yard.

DH and I have no choice but to be "gentle" today because it is supposed to be a record high temperature. The house will stay fairly cool for a couple of days in a hot spell, even without central air, but we will fire up the ceiling fans and put the window a/c unit in the bedroom sometime today.

I also need to bring a bunch of stuff in from my car. DH hasn't looked at the flat tire yet, but I'm going with the assumption that it's time to buy 2 new back tires rather than try to fix the flat one. I don't remember the last time I used the spare. I'm hoping we can get the spare to hold enough air to drive the car to a local garage so I don't have to have it towed -- and hoping that at least 1 of the 2 places here in Tiny Town sells tires.

In any case, there's no reason to rush it because nothing will be open until Tuesday. That gives me plenty of time to empty the car and I can move slowly in the heat.

Yesterday's errands in DH's car took me over 4 hours driving in blazing sun. Both grocery stores I shopped were crammed full of people, of course, with the holiday needs on top of normal Saturday shoppers. Even with a list, not being able to get through several aisles meant that I managed to forget 1 item in each store. Luckily not terribly essential items.

We still have not heard anything from family for getting together. That makes DH so happy that I think even if we get a last-minute invitation, he will want to claim other plans. They won't need to know the "other plans" are for him to relax in his man cave.

I'm hoping to 'gently' persuade dh to buy plants on our own today (for the berm). He's been wanting ds-A to do sketcth of the 5 tiers with perennials. A daunting task at best. I decided last night we're taking the bull by the horns and going to buy some plants on our own. AS I was trying to draw up some thoughts, I can see where it would have been very difficult for ds to do this one. A little different when you're landscaping around a house or business -but 5-6 tiers of nothing -a bit harder.

I'm off and will let you know if it 'worked'.

Good morning all.

I finally was able to upload my blog on Sunday morning like I was supposed to . The last few weeks it has been Sunday night or even Monday.

I also set up the next Journal for our travels.

Next up is to get ready for church. I think I have to go to the MH for my good slacks. That will be the norm this week - is what I need in the house or the MH.

I have a bunny, a flicker and 2 quail outside my window right now. I don't know what the bunny is finding to eat in our gravel covered yard. The flicker is looking for bugs in the rail fence and the quail are scratching for bugs.

I woke up to the sound of gnawing about 3 am this morning. So we WILL be going to the hardware store for rat/mouse poison right after church. I don't mind critters outside - but don't chew and get inside!!

Best hit the shower and then make up a list if we are going to town. We need milk, potatoes and bread but I don't want to get much more as I won't have room in the MH fridge.

Good Morning!

Yes! YES! Yes, to a gentle day! Today is our last day of no MPB duties. We plan to spend the day at home doing whatever we want. I look around and see all the things I want to do.....and know they can't fit into a single day. Sooooo - narrowing the choices down.....
** Read a chapter (or two) of DSLR book with pen/paper in hand to take notes. I want to learn how to use camera to its fullest capability and improve my photography skills.
** Keep sprinklers going in yard, moving them to a new area every hour or so. After multiple years of losing trees, hauling dirt, spreading dirt, planting grass, losing grass to drought conditions, etc I think this is the year we will see all the effort come together and have a nice yard. I want to make sure it stays well watered so the grass will grow deep and strong.
** plan menu for this week. I am determined to give health/fitness a higher priority. Planning meals is one of the ways that make that happen.

We may be setting records for the high for today and tomorrow according to the NWS (National Weather Service).

We may have set a record high yesterday, Indiana, but today will be a little cooler (90ish). The wind is the worst! I really get disagreeable when the wind blows too strongly, for too long. We are just about there..........

Yesterday, DSis, DMother & I, along with DNephew/25, made our annual trek to two cemeteries. I would be surprised if the flowers we placed are still there & have not blown away. DNephew used a screwdriver & hammer to make holes in the ground for the flowers. We have had almost no rain in May, huge cracks have appeared and the grass is turning brown & crispy. We had such an early spring that the peonies have finished blooming. Usually on Memorial Day, the cemeteries are beautiful with blooming peonies. I'm glad DMother decided to ride along after all.

Yep, Kally, we came back with about 14 pots of perennials -phlox, sedum, summer lilacs, grass of some kind, hostas, and a couple of others. Ended up spending over $140, for starters. Figure that will keep him out of trouble for a few days, then I can go back and get some to fill in. Trying to remind him that a lot of these will spread and "Rome's not built in a day".There are 5 tiers, 24' long to be filled with something on the right side of the steps. There are also 5 tiers going up the left side but we have some things already planted there. We tried not to get anything that will grow higher than 18". Think the rise is about 20".

Going over to DS/DDIL's shortly for hots and hamburgers for lunch. DH has to drive the camp wagon (tractor pulled) for the afternoon GP Parade at 1. I'm amazed at how many golf carts there are here now. There will be a lot of those 'dressed up' for the parade. Actually it's looking like rain.

We were going to have chili for dinner so I'm heating that now and taking it over for anyone who wants a chili dog or just plain chili.

We bought 8 bags of mulch (I'm sure not near enough) for the berm and around the deck -a few days ago. Went with black this time because everywhere I've seen where DS-A has placed it -it just looks so neat. In our front yard we have a small flowering tree with small crab apple like fruits on it. Funny part is dcampowner bought & planted it there a few years ago. His rule: "NO trees bearing fruits of any kind that can fall." They're tiny so it's not so bad.

Hi everyone. I just cuop thru page 1 of Friday, & decided to post now rather than get completely caught up first. It's funny how sometimes I can get here every day & keep up well, & other times days go by despite my good intentions. I tend to want to get completely caught up before posting, but that often just gets me further & further behind .
