Good morning to all.
Harriet - I read your post from last night about Mary Engle/breit's craft idea you were interested in. I love Mary E and have several of her books. I'll look today and see if I can find that garden sign you described. I also have her ceramic pieces around the house and kitchen, which cheer me up when I see them.

Indiana - please take it easy today. It's so good to have you back posting.

Hello and welcome to our "new" poster ellyphant - I was a lurker for years too. Glad you joined us.

Yes, trying for a quiet, gentle Sunday here. Had a nice service of remembrance at church. Came home and phoned my mother as it is her birthday today. Now waiting to hear from my daughter and son, as we usually touch base with them on Sundays. It makes for a nice "family" day even though we can't be together.

I plan to finish my library book that is due tomorrow--although it occurs to me that the library is probably closed tomorrow for the holiday. DH will work tomorrow and take his holiday another time.

Also must copy papers that need to then be fed-exed. This will save us going back to New England for closing on house.

Harriet, I don't know the answer to your coffee question, but I drink "half caf". It gives a little kick of caffeine, but doesn't get my acid reflux going like regular coffee can.

Went over to DS-R/DDIL's RV for lunch. Her mom & sis were both there. It's so long between times that we get to see each other (especially with us being gone 6 months). Probably saw them last September at least. DDIL's stepdad passed away shortly before I came home so her dmom is still a little 'lost'.

I decided to come home, relax and read a bit when her mom and sis decided it was time to go home and tend their dogs. Going back over for a short campfire about 7 and then for the movie "on the beach" ("Happy Feet Two") at 9. I probably won't last but thought it was a cute movie. Have to figure out how to record on old VHS when dh comes back. Want to record the race.

Hi y'all...

I was up at a nice time this morning and began my day. Did 4 lol and put them away. Worked on my kitchen, etc, etc...Now I am about to tackle my office. That means everything must be emptied out so I can move my desk around...its on of those L shaped ones. Been wanting to do this for a while and am anxious to get started.

I'm with you Okay with making the meal plan list. My weight has slid up some and I want to get back on board with my program. Too much stress and treats during these last weeks of school. I just went with the flow cause it was easier and I knew that I could focus on it now. So I'm back to no processed foods, bread, sugar or starches. Plus I can drink a lot more water now that I don't have to worry about my "bathroom" breaks. Thats always such a bummer for teachers.

Got good oldie moldies going on in the background and I'm ready to rock and roll. I'm going to keep my box schedule simple for the next week or so. When I redesign it, I want to take time to do it right and not just throw it together.

Running from my favorite little computer gremlins before they suck me in...They're nasty little devils don't ya think/ ;)

We're having a quiet, gentle day here also. I woke up to rain this morning; a nice hard rain that left puddles in the yard!

The last couple of days have not been ideal. Dh is still wrestling with his "cold", or whatever it is. He has a coughing spell every 30 seconds (yes, I timed it). He is still tired, though he seems a little better than yesterday. Yesterday was a pajama day for me; headachy and no energy. We spent most of the day lounging and napping. Fortunately I feel a lot better today. (Thanks for asking Harriet!)

We called both families and said not to come this weekend. We sure don't want any of the dgkids catching what we have! I've done basic chores today, but that's it. We might see dfam#2 tomorrow if dh continues feeling better.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

My idea of being gentle to myself and not going to brunch is paying off.

My oxygen level is 96% and the temperature outside is 96. It looks like we set a record.

Oh, my.
Oh, my, my, my.
I have had car trouble. You know that sheepish feeling you have when someone had to come and get you  and you had to leave your car behind in a parking lot. Sigh.
And it happened right in Sadie's workplace parking lot, but she didn't come to help me. :D
Dd13 called her Daddy, who was taking care of my ddad. He tried the sons but they were both much farther away than he. So, he and my ddad (on the pretext of getting a milkshake, so as not to upset) BOTH came to get us. Of course, taking any time was out of the question. So we'll call the shop as soon as they open, which, we realized on the way home, is Tuesday morning. Sigh.

I took the waiting opportunity to teach dd13 about the phenomenon known as The Male Ego. I explained to her, that, although her Daddy had been his normal self on the phone with her, when he arrived at the site of the Problem With A Vehicle, she would hardly know him because he would be ILL. As a hornet. I explained that taking vehicle problems personally is a common quirk of the male of the species, assuming one is at all mechanical, with non-mechanical men being somewhat immune, since they don't feel the ego-bruising of the rebellious car so much.

Sure enough, my usually pleasant husband was furious at the air AROUND the car when he arrived, and every person breathing it needed to back up slightly. ;) He apologized on the way home, with dd in the back seat with me, whispering, "you were SO right". My ddad didn't get the "rescue" concept at all, and assumes we were out for the happiest joy ride, not really noticing that we left something behind!

This morning dd did finally get to wear the pretty blue tights I found to match one of her too-short Sunday dresses. Looked great, and redeems that outfit from the donation pile.

sherinjoy, this one was "Crafts to Decorate Your Home" from 1999. Even though I've found pages of it shown on the net, still no luck finding any image of one of her "Blooming Garden Post"s in the world. You would think someone would just have to show their version. Not as darling as Kathryn's Olive the Other Reindeer, but pretty cute. I believe the little book store may have a customer - perhaps ds or HRH with a "hint" of something I'd like. Would I actually paint a post and "plant" it? Maybe! But I would need to plant flowers then!!!

Now, how long has it been, maybe 1.5 hours since the first sign of trouble, and my car is running again and home in my driveway. :o Dstepson just took over and handled it, having his maternal cousin help with driving. He is a wonder. I told dd she needs to model herself after her sibling, but not the ones I birthed, the other one! He is certainly born organized and a whirlwind at it, too. My own darling boy had said, "Hey, Mom, if you leave the keys in it, we might get lucky and someone will steal it!" See? Charming, yes, but helpful....hmmm. (He doesn't appreciate perfectly good vintage things.)

I had gotten all the purchases put away, including ones that were not still as cold as I'd have wished, but we think they are okay. Tobias was frantic for a can of food (one of the reasons I was at the store with the good cat-food price). I made a cake of cornbread here for the rest of the family when I got home, too, and they seem appreciative.

Time for me to have a salad with guacamole.

ellyphant, is that a product or do you just make yours 50-50? I have a cousin who drinks coffee all day long and I don't know whether to worry about him or figure he'll last longer than any of the rest of us. But he says he can't be without his "Pepcid", and I know the coffee has got to be a part of that.

We have arrived safely at HHI - no storm here yet - we were expecting rain by the time we got here but appears will start tonight into maybe Wednesday. If you're checking on Beryl for me, we are just north of Savannah just into SC.

We have a fifth floor unit so can see the waves all whipped up. We've been to the grocery, and since we ate lunch so late we'll just snack tonight.

Harriet, I LOLed at your description of your dh and the car issues and dh ill as a hornet. BTW, I googled for info on broody hens and they can endanger their health by not leaving the nest to eat.
