Hello everyone! I am not usually part of the Sunday crowd, but I was lonesome, so I popped in. Today did not start off gentle, more like hectic. XDH dropped off DD10 and we were late for church. Not because of either of them mind you, it was all me! It was our pastor's last day before retirement, so I really wanted to go. After that I had to meet a friend who was babysitting DD while I did cat clinic. I did not account for the combined church service, communion (which is normally not today), and the fact that the pastor wanted to serve everyone communion personally. We RAN out of the building, and were not too late for lunch. Cat clinic was uneventful - no adoptions, no donations, not many people around at all. I am cleaning up the house so I can have people over. Tomorrow a friend is coming for dinner. I have already gotten much done, what remains is the kitchen, MBR, and sewing room. Only the kitchen is necessary for having guests over. The laundry twins are running (the dryer is squealing along, may have to have repairs). I called a friend tonight to see if she wanted to go to the movies, but I don't think she will. She has a vacation Tuesday and is frantically getting ready.

My newly installed swamp cooler is running nicely. I need to make a grocery list for tomorrow. I think I will serve my Chinese Chicken. See y'all some other time, probably Tuesday.

Jake and I just came in from a quick walk. It is delightful outside now. The temp is 88 with a light breeze.

My breathing is stellar at 97%. Although I would like 98% I'm so very happy with 97%.

Waving to all it's been a gentle Sunday for me.

Today we went to church then it was off to the buffet and after that the home depot was nearly next door to it so we went there. H. is helping me with plans for the some day hen house we priced chicken wire he got to look at other stuff there as well.

On the way home stopped by and got a hug from the dgds. I went on a walk after that. Perfect weather for that. Saw some baby robins out of the next on my walk.

Church was good today, no song sheets but we did okay.

We made it to church and got an update for stuff going on there and was glad we were there.
They are thinking about doing a christian school grades 1-3 doing away with the day care for now any way some probs. with that from the previous folks. H. is going to see about helping with the grounds and the mower at the church is not working prob. a dead battery. They are going to have a work day. I think to get it mowed before the 4th of July they have quite a bit of property.

Pastors in house are lined up to for June between when the other two guys come to speak they are hoping by July / or fall at least to have it settled.

Harriet, the coffee I mentioned is an actual product that has half the caffeine of regular coffee. In New England, I bought a store brand that was called "half caf". Here in new state, I buy a different store brand that is called "lite coffee"--again half the caffeine. Just don't especially like decaf. Could probably get the same results making regular coffee half strength. I figure this way, I'm getting either half the benefits or half the harmful effects!

Dove and SherinJoy, nice to know others were like me with the long-time lurking!

Lilac, hope you can remember your food processor, too! I have a metal shredder that I should have used--forgot all about that being in the cabinet.

Indiana, I will be looking online for that info. Thanks for the reminder!

Harriet - I have a similar book called "Mary Engel-breit Decorating Ideas: Projects to Make for Indoors and Out" published in 2001, but it doesn't have the blooming garden post. When I looked your book up on Amazon, there are several used copies for .01 cents with 3.99 shipping. Also, when I hit the "look inside" feature, and picked "surprise me" for pages, it came up with the blooming garden post pages, so I could see it inside the book, but couldn't print it. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but the used copy prices seem very inexpensive if you really want it. You're worth it! Does your library possibly have it? Might be worth a search online, our library carries several of her books.

Did some cooking for the week. Going to watch some TV and relax tonight.

Harriet: I have been able to buy Folgers Half and Half. I think the last I got was at Costco.

We played lazy this afternoon and didn't do anything except put out rodent poison. After church we drove north instead of south and saw some great country. We stopped at a little diner but the food was so-so. They were very busy but the wait staff kept joking and laughing with the regulars. They even had some of the regulars wrapping silverware. Every one was in a good mood - even tho they ran our of french fries and ice cream.

Came back and watched the Coke 600. Now watching the sun go down over the mountains outside my window.

Think I will go clean up the kitchen before I lose all my oomph.

Elizabeth, sorry you were lonely, but it sure sounds like your house is shaping up nicely. That will be so pleasant for having company tomorrow.

Great oxygen news, Indiana.

Dove, glad to know you are catching up on any bright thoughts someone may have dropped lately!

You're right, Twins' Mom. I've got to attend to this broodiness. We had a revelation tonight as dd realized this is not Cicely but Hoshi who now won't give up the nest, so I think I've missed a switch that happened sometime. One of the identical sisters has gotten this out of her system but the other has now started in. At least things are changing. I locked all three out of the henhouse for 2 hours this evening. Hoshi was interested in grass and insects at first, then became inconsolable after about a half-hour, but I've learned from reading about this that it's for the best. She jumped onto the same high roost with the other two girls as I shut up the house, so that may be progress, and I can only hope her mind is changing. The best thing to do tomorrow is deny her entrance to the house again, and that's doable, but I will have to watch the weather.

sherinjoy, I'm still glad the used bookstore has it locally even though it's more expensive. If I do suggest it as a "hint" I can say that it's right in the nearby town, and I know the lady there could take someone right to it. Glad you got to see the pages at random - so cute!

Sometimes I buy some decaf and regular coffee and mix half of each in a container. Tastes like what you can buy and it is way cheaper. I do the same with my Starbucks coffee. Its too expensive to drink all the time, so I mix it with other less expensive coffees. Doesn't taste much different, its just ground differently. If I buy whole beans of a different brand I can grind it at the store and match the size of the Starbuck's grounds and it tastes just fine.

Got my office rearranged and I am happy. I'm sitting with my back to the door which I hate, but Sweetie promises to let me know he's coming before he appears in the room. I have a terrible startle reflex and hate to be scared. I've also put a mirrow on my desk so I can "see" the door.

Nitters to all....and I don't have to go to school tomorrow....well ok, so its a holiday and it doesn't count, but on Tue..I don't have to go to school either :D This will take some getting used to.
