Hey to Ya'll..

Just so you know Lucylee, the Queen DOES have an iphone and knows how to text. Her grandkids are always talking about getting messages from her. LOL

I have had one of those "didn't have anything planned" days and it turned out wonderful. After eating breakfast and finishing my dailies I needed to put away my new cleaning supplies. I wanted to move things around under the sink so I would have a place for them. Five hours later all my kitchen drawers and cabinets have been cleaned and reorganized. I love when that happens :D

Once I got started it, my motivation to straighten things up got carried away. I kept thinking to myself..I think I'll do this one other thing after I finish this...and before I knew it my kitchen was looking great. I tossed and decluttered with great enthusiasm. Turned up my music and just went with the flow.

And, I did have a good laugh today. I was flipping through the tv channels while eating my lunch. Saw that the Young and the Restless was on and decided to watch for a minute. There was a time in my life when I regularly watched the soaps but its been decades...Oh my did I have a good laugh. Many of the same characters are still there..facelifts and all. I felt like I was was stepping back in time and found myself listening for my ds to wake up from his nap....he's now 31 ;) Geesh, some of those guys must be approaching 90...so what does that say about me???

Had a wonderful time at my retirement party on Sat night and didn't get home until way after 1am. The party started at 5. It was so great to spend time with so many people that have been such an important part of my life for so long. Tonight I am meeting my friend for dinner. One of our past "special" students graduated this week. She and her mom wants to meet us for dinner. It is in the same complex as Barns and N obles. I have several gifts cards so I will go early and get to spend time doing one of my favorite things...finding a great book to read.

Need to go take a shower and get ready. Tomorrow needs to be a desk day for me, but with a new book sitting around that might really be a challenge for me. I haven't heard anything from Norma's DH yet...will have Sweetie check his email in a while. Sweetie talked to Norma's DH yesterday. They email back and forth like a bunch of teenagers and Sweetie sent him pictures of some engine part's Sweetie had made for the new car. Seems somehow Sweetie attached the pictures to the copies of my retirement papers and Norma's DH got those too :o That was good for a laugh too.

Cy'all later. ..........

I just realized our lawn wasn't cut yesterday. Sigh.... Wonder what is up - I pay enough for this (about $85 per week) so I notice when they don't come.

I'm hungry and tempted to go out for dinner because I've feeling very lazy and am craving chicken nuggets. I checked and don't have any leftover from our Boxing Day party. Of course, I could just run over to the store - it is only 3 miles away and I could probably buy a box for less than a meal at McDs.

My day has felt very long. Got off to Presbytery a bit late, made later by the low tire pressure light coming on. Not sure how long it was on for but possibly just minutes. In the winter we ignore it because the winter tires don't have the special valves. So ignoring it is something we do 5 months of the year without consequence. Anyway, I pulled off into a neighbourhood, parked on a level street and checked the tires. One was low (but not dangerously) so I refilled it (I keep an electric pump in the car.)

Work went well. There was cake. We are always celebrating something there, which is one of the reasons I like volunteering there. I got my task done today (much to my surprise) plus had lunch out with ds.

Ordered the cakes from Costco for Sunday. Bought fruit because I was at Costco and it was affordable.

Came home and picked up the mail from the last 3 days and found out how much it will cost to send a flyer to every mail box in the village.

Answered 3 phone messages. Sent out an email to the church Board about sending a flyer to every mail box in the village.

Have cuop here.

So a full day. No wonder the other thing I want to do is sleep!

Well, well... if the Queen has an iPhone then I certainly should have one, too! :P

I'm s2s... and I wish I could take a nap. I might do that. Maybe dh can visit his dmom w/out me today! I should be vacuuming the floors while he's gone, and getting some zone/focus work done... but I am not in the mood. I know... I know... if we only did things when we were in the MOOD... we'd probably never do ANYTHING. I know I'd probably do NOTHING but sleep & read.
Tomorrow is another day.

I've swept, mopped, and vacuumed upstairs. Next up laundry after hubby gets home his work clothes keeping fingers & toes crossed the washer is ok prayers going up about this.

Dgd napped and I watched another video of rail travel across Canada thought of you K in C! We traveled some on train when I was a kid three days across the country [us] and by
car 3/4ths of the way across Canada. Some of it we went to on motor cycle in more recent travels. Refreshing plus I feel like I've learned something as well.

Hugs to all who need it.

I went to bed for 2 hours, just to rest.

Got up and unloaded the dishwasher and measured out the dry ingredients for the anniversary cake. They are in containers now. I'll do the 'wet' ingredients the night before just in case there are any slow leaks. Also have put the cake pan, spoons and bowls in all together.

I have the go ahead to do the flyer so have to do that either now, or first thing in the morning. Will print it over at the church, rather hand here because it is 226 pieces of paper. (actually half that but double sided printing.) Will chop them up and get them to the general store after picking up dh from the airport.

Still need to buy:

25 lb cabbage
1 large sweet onion
3 lbs of carrots

5 c vinegar, 4 c oil, 4 c sugar, 3 tbsp celery seed. I have salt already.

That will make coleslaw for 100. That's my tomorrow night activity with dh although given his jet leg I might push it off until Thursday.

I priced cabbage tonight when I went to buy my chicken nuggets; cabbage was $1.99 a head last week and 70 cents a pound elsewhere (one head is about 4.5 pounds) but tonight it was $2.99 each. Sigh.... I'll price it when I take my friend to bank tomorrow, perhaps it has dropped in that town.

Off to bed late but the first draft of the flyer is done and sent off for approval.

See you all in the morning.

Several thoughts, whatever I can remember:

The House Fairy title was right in the headline of the article. I don't think it was the woman cleaner who called herself this, but the writer. Strange.

(Lilac)

Lucylee, I was wondering if your DDiL got very big with this baby? Does your DSon have Plantar Fascitis? My goodness, that's what I had for so long and could hardly walk for a long time. I'm still not able to wear anything much but rubber sole shoes.

Oh, now I really feel dumb. The Queen - at her age - can text and I can't. My key pad doesn't cooperate.

About living in community. I've been thinking how much easier my life was before I jumped in to this position in church. Not the actual work. Dishes are easy to wash, etc. It's all the community that's hard. Sometimes I feel as if I say all the wrong things; I also feel like all the others are so much more competent at ministry than I am. ...sigh

I've been here at the computer for a long time trying to make sense of these notes to type up tonight's minutes. People think we all know the same stuff and only use 1st names, etc., and that doesn't work for anyone out of the loop trying to make minutes. I must call someone tomorrow to confirm a few things. Some of these ladies know each other irl and what makes sense to them doesn't to me. I've done all I can for tonight.

Late night/early morning ci:
We just got back from movie -- The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel -- starring Judi Dench (sp?) and several other British actors/actresses. I really liked it. It's about a bunch of British retirees on vacation and/or relocating to India. Things do NOT go as planned. It's not an action thriller or anything, just a nice, sweet movie.
Nice slogan of the inn keeper:
Everything will be all right in the end... and if it is not all right, then it is not the end.
:D

Harmony, ooohhh... IKWYM...
Sometimes I feel as if I say all the wrong things; I also feel like all the others are so much more competent at ministry than I am. ...sigh
However, I am sure you are doing perfectly well in this position and I can't imagine you saying the wrong things!!! (((BIG HUGS))) Try not to second guess yourself... and if you have to ask for clarification, well, just ask. There is nothing at all wrong with that!

Ddil has not gained a LOT of weight -- less than 30 pounds. Could be less than 25 pounds... she just mentioned it Sunday night, but I've forgotten. (As someone who gained about 50, I thought whatever number she called out sounded VERY low, LOL!) She is getting very tired of being pregnant, however. ;) And, she is talking about how she and ds are both going to start doing a cardio-workout dvd after the baby comes. Hmmm... we'll see how that goes.

DS does not have Plantar Fascitis, as far as we can tell. He never went to a doctor with it. He just had an episode, about the time dfil passed away, where his foot was really bothering him a LOT. He could barely walk, also. Duncle loaned him that sock thing, that is supposed to stretch out your foot muscles, I guess, but ds never slept in it. Duncle also advised him to roll a frozen water bottle under his foot, and that DID seem to help a LOT. After a week or so, the pain went away, and I don't think it has bothered him since.
Duncle said his doctor told him to NEVER go barefoot, EVER -- to put on shoes w/arch support if he got up in the night to use the bathroom!
I hope you don't have any more trouble with yours, Harmony, b/c I could tell whatever ds was having, it was definitely painful. He was almost ready to go to the doctor, and that is VERY unusual for him.
Tomorrow is another day.
