I slept in an hour extra this morning but had an interrupted sleep. LO woke me up around 2am saying his "nose was leaking". Turns out he had a bloody nose. This was the 2nd bloody nose of the day, he had one during his nap too. He has never had a bloody nose before so i am trying to not pay attention to the alarm bells going off in my head. Two days ago LO had an impressive bruise appeared on thigh after he bumped into the sandbox edge. Bloody nose episodes and excessive bruises are both potential signs of low platelets. DD was LO age when her blood problem first appeared but we have been told her blood problem is not heredity. ARGH!! Telling myself to stop it! Reminding myself that I'm the person who took LO as a toddler to the doctor and had xrays after he had a skinned knee. OVER THE TOP! It is a bloody nose and a bruise. EVERY kid gets those. R-e-l-a-x!

yesterday we received a voice message from anonymous person. They said they provided a letter of character for LO parents last year but now regret it. They have since witnessed events which caused them to change their mind because LO would not be cared for in that environment. This stranger called again last night and we visited on the phone for almost an hour. I didn't know if it was some sort of a trap, a jilted lover of one of LO parents, or just a concerned citizen. At the end of the conversation they told me their name and phone number to contact them if we ever needed their help to keep LO safe. We have known this legal path has been long and rocky. It was bitter sweet to receive confirmation from a stranger (to us) that we are doing the best for LO.

It is a beautiful morning in Kansas. A few high clouds and the sun is shining.

We had a very restful night. Others here at Camp Wally complained about the trucks and a train but neither DH nor I heard them. We slept sound all night.

DH has gone in to buy some milk as we used the last with our cereal this morning. I went for a walk before he got up and looked at all the flowers in the garden center. I talked to the "water lady" and she says it takes her 7 hours to water all the plants each day. She says if it is windy she tries to water the ones outside twice.

We have 188 miles today to Elm Creek, NE. I hope they have a laundry there so I can wash some clothes. We will spend two days there and then head for SD. We could probably make it in 1 day but I have allocated two days so there will be about 150 each day.

Time to put things away for the road. TTFN

I'm up and at it. Have rearranged the kitchen in prep for making the coleslaw. This is a big production but not a lot more messy than making a single batch of coleslaw. The pots are just much, much, larger! So I put the food processor on the table and the pot on a chair and shred straight into the pot (my food processor has a chute.)

I still have to s2s. Don't know if I want to do it before or after but I feel dirty so I guess before.

Dh is ironing now. I feel bad about that but it was only 3 shirts. He did my shirt too so I'll have it for tomorrow. For today, I'm not wearing fancy clothes.

((OK and LO)) It is hard not to worry about our little ones sometimes. You're doing such a wonderful job caring for LO on all fronts, physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, other "-lys" that I'm sure I'm missing. Your love for him shines through your posts here!

Beautiful day here too! I think the a/c has gone out in my van, however -- just in time to travel down to IL for the weekend. Fortunately, we'll be traveling in the evening/night both directions.

Dh left early this morning for a quick trip to Cali.

Graduation was. . interesting. Neither dh nor I went to a large public American high school (dh was in NL; I went to a hs that limited attendance to 50 per class with entrance exams, essays, etc.), so the whole procedure was new to us both. My, what a big to-do!

Warning - some proud mom comments: We're very proud of ds. It looks like he is graduating with a 4.0 (this hs does not weight above 4.0; I know some high schools do that) in largely accelerated and AP classes. I'm especially proud of him that he was not afraid to take AP/AC classes in subjects that I wouldn't normally think of as his strengths, such as US History, English, and Humanities. I actually counseled him against taking APUSH sophomore year. . . But even in these classes he has done very well, enjoyed them a lot (esp. humanities), and has learned a lot, and in so doing, he has proven he has some wisdom and independence; he can make decisions that are right for him while diverging from what his mother thinks he should do. Ah, that will be happening more and more, won't it?

Afterward, we ate at our favorite yummy Asian fusion restaurant downtown with friend R - and got home way too late. Dd16 decided to join us; I'm not sure how prepped she is for her exam today. . . . . We'll see.

Dd14 did ace her algebra final! She told me yesterday she was more worried about her history final.

Today: I need to revisit some items from my li&t yesterday.
- a.m. routine
- devo.
-finish dd14's camp paperwork
- errands: (1) Walgreens (2) postal place (3) bank - cash for trip (4) oil change (5) buy 100 bowls for the 8th grade picnic tomorrow
- haircut at 1 pm
- pick up dd15 at 2:30 -- or maybe ds can do this
- Lily and Pepper to the vet at 4
- Th. dinner crew here at 6:30
- other items on my weekly li&t, tbd

I think this should keep me thundering along!

Good morning to all. After an EXTREMELY busy day yesterday, I have a pretty slow day today, I think.
If y'all missed my posts last night, be sure and go back and see all my TA-DA's for yesterday!
I was pretty stressed out last night, too... but I am trying to remind myself that
1. Ddad probably is extra-annoying right now, b/c of all he's going through w/the chemo.
2. I have PMS this week.
3. Of course I'm extra edgy about everything, too, b/c of anticipation of the shower coming up on Sunday.

(((OKay))) I hope LO's nose problem goes away as quickly as it came. Try not to worry.
I know... LOL @ me saying that... We can all imagine what kind of worry-wart grandma I'M going to be soon!!!
That was good of the person to call and talk with you last night, to re-affirm that you ARE doing what is right. Of course, everybody -- here, and I'm sure IRL -- can see plainly that you are doing what's right... but I know you felt better to hear it from someone who knows your dd, also.

BIG WTG to helia's ds, and congratulations on graduation!!! You have every right to some proud mom comments, helia! Your children are doing so well. That is one of the greatest joys of parenthood, isn't it... to kind of sit back and watch them turn into responsible young people, and see what kind of adults they're going to become.

I know I am really looking forward to watching ds take on this next role in life... I think he will make a great father, and I think he will really enjoy being a father.
I worry about their finances, and their tiny house, and their dog -- but I imagine most, or at least, a lot of parents have some misgivings about when their children are ready for parenthood themselves. I know MATURITY-WISE, he is ready, has been ready for some time. I just wish he had his career more stabilized... and I wish ddil was out of college and had a good career started for herself... but I know they'll make it. Others have, under much more trying circumstances.

I know one thing this morning:
I am certainly glad I am not having to make coleslaw for 100. I am glad I am not making coleslaw for ONE.

Sadie, I think I need to '"tweak" my dailies/weeklies a little. I like the way you separated floors, baths, dusting. I'm going to think about that during my morning walk. I need to come up with something that is DO-ABLE for me b/c right now, I am doing NOTHING.

[x] Pay church secretary for clean-up fee ($100) of fellowship hall
* Everyone associated w/this shower thinks this is ridiculous. Clean-up fee should be a "deposit" and should be returned if fellowship hall is left in good condition. Other large church in town does this w/their fees. However, since all of us who are in on this shower are also church members, we are going along in order to get along. The problem is, we over-built when we did the new fellowship hall, we're having trouble paying for it, and we're raising fees to help cover ourselves. IMHO... and dh's opinion.

[ ] Order dh's Father's Day gift
