Um - distracted by graduation photos, not that I got great ones. I sent what I have to my parents and brother.

For some reason, this just cracked me up, lucylee! I don't think I've ever made cole slaw, to be honest. Dh thinks he doesn't like it. . .

I know one thing this morning:
I am certainly glad I am not having to make coleslaw for 100. I am glad I am not making coleslaw for ONE.

Thank you for the positive comments, lucylee. I feel we're not out of the woods yet with our kids, so to speak. Like any other mom, I can worry about what could happen in college and beyond, decisions they'll have to make. . . . I think you will be a very sensitive and thoughtful grandmother!

Have unloaded and loaded Dishwasher. Switched towels from washer to dryer. I should start using my clothes line again but I just haven't fit that in.

Spent some time outside with Ddogs. It was cool and they ran around together for awhile.

Set my timer and dusted for 30 minutes. I worked in the living room. Things hadn't been done in awhile so it took some time to do it. Noticed that since all the TV accessories(Satellite box, X-box, speakers) have been moved to a shelf under the TV, the dust accumulates on them quite rapidly.

Each week I do something toward our trip, it might be pick up travel size items or looking up restaurants near my aunt's house. This week I started a list for Dson24 of all the things Dbrother and Ddogs need done daily.

Going to exercise and shower.

helia, I've never made coleslaw, either! And, like becoming a purple cow, I never hope to make it!!! It certainly sounds like a messy, long, drawn-out process. If anyone wanted ME to make coleslaw, y'all KNOW what I'd say:
"Wmart sells it, right there in the deli. How much do we need?"

That doesn't mean I don't ADMIRE your effort, Kathryn... I'm just glad I'm not having to be a part of it!

I better get my walking shoes on and hit the pavement. I do sooo much better if I walk first thing in the morning!

helia + lucylee it took just over 100 min to make the coleslaw. would have taken 90 but had to spend 10 min on first aid, tossing the 1/2 cabbage's worth in the bowl and thoroughly cleaning up the FP to get the bits of my fingertip out of it. I'm going to have a very funny shaped r.h. middle fingertip unless it grows back.

Probably still in shock but did everything right instinctively - pressure, run to sink to flush with cold water which went on for minutes because dh had to instructed on each step. He had tolook for me becuz i was afraid to and said it was fine. It wasn't but he didn't look closely enough.

The bleeding seems to have stopped. i finished up with just my left hand, holding r arm in air to slow bleeding and then put on a rubber glove for cleanup. when i took that off the bandage was blood soaked so that was obviously too much use of my hand. i dried my hair and then dh changed the bandage again for me and now i'm not using the hand at all. No pain or ache but that could be shock. since bleeding is done no er trip since there is nothing to sew up - i seems to have taken 1/4" of the fleshy bit off.

mods - u can either edit this for me or leave the mistakes in for colour but i'm too lazy to fix it now.

we leave in 10 min for dh's cardio appt. I'll get lunch out since i can't think what to eat now.

I feel I should clarify - I certainly don't find lucylee's hugs for Kathryn humorous. I know those are genuine -- and I hope the project is going well today if that is what you are doing today, Kathryn.

Oh, there you are. Wow! That is impressive, Kathryn! 100 minutes, that is. Ouch, though. ((HUGS)) I hope your finger is OK. That sonds pretty serious. Glad dh is there to help you.

Yes -- the hugs for the effort were genuine, and the (((BIG HUGS))) for the PAIN are even more so!!!
Oh my, (((Kathryn)))! That was a pretty scary few minutes! I am sooo glad you are okay.
I am also impressed at how quickly you and dh got this chore done.

I have to keep reminding myself of this fact... things almost NEVER take as long as I imagine they will, and if I just make myself take that first step and get started, it will all be done fairly quickly and I will feel so much better.

I did walk 3 miles, talked to dmom on the phone, apologized to her for "getting Daddy stirred up last night."
She said, "What did you get him stirred up about?"
LOL...
After I explained, she said, "Well, fortunately or unfortunately, I don't know which, but since your daddy has been dealing with his own problems and this chemo, whatever he gets upset about is soon forgotten if it doesn't have to do with himself directly."

Thanks, Indiana. When I think of DDShelley's Memorial Service I immediately think of Mystery and her wearing a purple dress. Haven't seen her here in a long, long time. I was so surprised and so thrilled to see her there, representing our little village.

Hugs to LO -hoping that the nosebleeds are "nothing", but do know how we tend to be worried -especially when there are things in our past to make us so. That was an interesting phone call, OKay -hoping it was all on the up and up and helpful in the long scheme of things.

Took dh to the pulmonary dr. Long and short of it is he did see some irritated bronchial/lund issues and put him on 2 different inhalers. Have to go back in a month. The whole issue seems to be a combination of his dwindling valve function and this irritation issue. I think he was hoping for a more definitive diagnosis, but hopefully the inhalers will help him. Dr had really done his homework and read through a lot from dh's cardiologist. And he remembered it all! We did talk a little about sleep apnea and that being what ended up taking dd's life. (of course that was right up his alley). It's not the little simple disease that some may think it is. It certainly had huge effects on dd's life and ultimately her death. And in those effects was the fallout on her children and the rest of us. (AS MT says -I'm off my soapbox now.)

Here some gen pracs have what they call "Triage Nurse" who takes calls in a timely manner. They might have an opinion about things like neosporin products, etc. (((((more)))))

lucylee, another reason may be that a custodian is employed? If that's the case, not collecting the fee might seem neglectful to the budget. I suppose they could also make a case for the replenishment of cleaning supplies and extra air-conditioning usage, although that doesn't seem to cover $100 worth, does it? I know when I was teaching quiltmaking classes at our church, the air-conditioning was a worry, because we were not a very large group of women, but we needed the large space and large tables of the fellowship hall. Once when the Boy Scouts needed the large space, we went to a much WARMer classroom area but no one was authorized to turn up the air conditioning in a second part of the church until Sunday, because it was a whole new level of expense, and also there was a computerized timer system in place for the church's heat/air system. Quite a hassle.

helia, I think that's wonderful. Was the ceremony indoors or out? We thought dd's outdoor one was much nicer than ds' indoor one. Dd13's 8th grade "graduation" will be in the gym, where sound and crowd will be uncomfortable.

I've accomplished next to nothing here at home today. Was out of the house at 7:15 to get ds to his job, then to the temple to meet with rabbi. We talked almost an hour and a half - lots going on (he uses it as a way to let me know about upcoming events and possible issues) but also issues with temple secretary are getting to him. I'll need to follow up on this with Admin VP tomorrow. I got back home, and napped long and hard; I was up at 4:20 this morning for some reason.

Now I need to be back downtown at 3 to p/u ds. I'm trying to decide whether to go back to temple after that to do some prep for meeting tomorrow, or whether to try to do it at home later via remote access, or whether to put it off until tomorrow morning and try to get it done before the 11:30 meeting. I'm thinking I should just go back to the temple and get it done late this afternoon. If I can get there around four the dsecretary will be leaving and I'll have some time since there's a class in the building tonight.

I need to do what I can in the next 40 minutes...
-clear kitchen counters and kitchen table
-empty the dishwasher
-upstairs make the bed
-work on a listing/worksheet for the people I need to call about working on this house

Good morning (almost afternoon) everyone. I had to pick up a sick DD10 yesterday and did not check in. she has bronchitis and was feeling miserable and coughing violently. Last night I did not do much, updated Quicken, emptied and loaded dishwasher, called friend, and read book while working with foster cat. I am having a problem with the foster cat. The person she is supposed to go to has not contacted me and may be falling through. This means the next cat in line for my space has a problem. It will work out though. There is a person who can take one cat, and he will either get Mona Lisa (currently in my house) or Lara (who is supposed to come to my house). Still no pay at payroll, not contract = no pay. I need to think of a father's day gift from DD to XDH, maybe a gift certificate from the bookstore? I have finished signing up for all shore excursions and have faxed info to financial advisor. I need to figure out what to do with my Intel stock. I have not heard from friend I contacted about lunch, so I am assuming that is a nogo. I still need to order meds to make sure I have enough for my July trip. Guess I'll do that now.
