FROLIC ON FRIDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

Can you spend your Friday just frolicking? Probably not -but perhaps just a small part? My frolic will most likely be a campfire at DS's tonight. (And getting to see DGS7 -hopefully...he's a real social butterfly so he may be off visiting at someone's else's campsite! :D ) Need to get some dates down with DS-R's family tonight. Know they plan to go to a WKA (World Karting Assoc) event, I think in Indiana later this summer. My db/dsil will be up from FL last of July & we have a graduation party for dnephewil's dd the 29th. Hoping dd and both ds's families can go.

Almost 7:30 and if I rush I can make 8am walk-time. I've only made it once and a half so far in about 5 days. (we gather at 8 to walk on Mon, Wed, Fri). Sometimes I've overslept and sometimes it's just been too nasty. No excuse today -sunny and I've been up for nearly an hour. Off I go to s2s. BBL

Have a 'frolic' of your own today. In the Amish culture a 'frolic' is when women get together to do a task, be it quilting, canning, cleaning, etc, etc. Perhaps you can 'Tom Sawyer' at least one other person to help you do something today?
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Tomorrow is my day to frolic. Today is finishing up anything from the week.

Dee there are 2 WKA events in South Bend in July.

I finally saw a doe last night. We have quite a few that wander our campus but this is the first time I saw one.

Good Morning!

I've been out this morning watching the sprinkler system spraying pattern around the area we are setting up for outdoor eating/hospitality. Yesterday we added a cooking/prep table to the area and relocated 2 grills. One grill is charcoal and the other is propane. DH is already at the point of being ready to pour concrete however I need time to plan….and think….and rearrange….and try it out…..and dream….and try it out….before committing to permanence of concrete.

Last night I harvested a full bag of green beans and finished snapping them right before bedtime. I pressed the "pause button" by sticking them in the refrigerator overnight. This morning they are cooking in big pot on the stove. I have decided to try freezing green beans instead of using the pressure cooker to can them. I'm going to do a couple freezer bags and then try out the results to make sure they turn out okay.

I miss Kally posting.

I'm going to frolic down to the market town and do some shopping. And perhaps get a pedicure (we'll see if I can be seen without an appointment.) My toe nail polish needs to come off so either I get it done professionally or have dh take it off for me. I'm too afraid the solvent will dissolve a rubber glove and then it will get into the wound so I'm not doing it myself.

I've put rubber gloves in the bathroom and by the kitchen sink for me to use when working around. I'm now just using two bandaids as my dressing but I want to keep them as dry as possible to reduce the number of dressing changes. Dh wants me to let it air more but I'm too expressive with my hands and am worried about disturbing the wound by accident. Last night hitting the covers, even with the dressing on, really hurt and typing is a stressful on it too - sometimes I hit the key with the wounded part and it hurts badly.

Kathryn my doctor recommends soaking the wound in salt water to promote healing and decreease the possibilty of infection. So far it has worked for me.

You don't need to sit with your hand in the water you can get a gauze or paper towel wet with the solution and hold it to you finger and rinse it often. Only do it for a few minutes at a time a couple times a day.

My frolic for the day is done. I started laundry at 6:40 this morning and just finished now at 9:45. One washer took almost 45 minutes to fill with cold water for the rinse and I had to do the dryer twice to get things dry. I came home in between and ate breakfast as I was so hungry.

Now (after I put things away) I have the whole day to play. We might go back down the road 16 miles to a museum we passed coming in here. We also want to check out some gas stations on easy access and price.

Next up I have to put up my blog for yesterday's travels. I forgot to do it last night. (We went to bed a 7:30 again - that's two nights in a row we went to bed before the sun went down.)

Indiana: how much salt to water ratio? And does it sting? At this point, water alone, stings.

Kathryn it is 1 tablespoon of salt to 1 cup of warm water.

It hasn't stung me. But it water is stinging your wound you may want to dab it with the solution. If it is still bleeding just dab it.

What a morning. No frolicking around here.

What's up with people who say they want work, then can't come when you call them or simply don't answer their phones? I think we did better before caller ID.

I had to make a couple other sandwiches for lunch, the crew grew in number. Rain I was hoping would stay away until at least this evening came today, steady sprinkles, but it looks a bit brighter. It's supposed to rain for a week like this. DH will have to do his work in the rain and cover with plastic. I've been given instructions on work helper will do here....and I'm to supervise...and at the same time go off for piece of rental equipment. Oh I will be so glad when this day is over.

I organized a job and made up a folder and marked all the papers and made a plan in my head how to proceed. I feel a bit better about that now. I'm wading through the stacks of stuff on my desk. I'm feeling a bit better about that progress also.

Kathryn, remember when I sliced off the "ball" of my thumb (or another finger, I don't remember) while I was cutting up big sheets of cardboard with a knife for the recycling bin? It hurt like the dickens. I put neosporin on it and gauze bandages and eventually it quit hurting and healed. Know what you're going through, it's not fun. I recall it took quite a few days.

Alright, I'm back to my desk.

Harmony, If you can't exactly remember which finger it was, it obviously grew back which is comforting to me.

Indiana, thanks for the ratio. Dh says (in an Aha! voice) "I remember my mother doing that with us when I was a kids...."
