Monday Attitude

I saw this quote posted on FB this morning and it made an impression on me.

My notes from yesterdays sermon included this "Thankful attitude is better than inventory of faults and problems"

What is your Monday Attitude?

[OKay]

I'll be honest and tell the truth. When i woke up, I didn't have a good attitude. I almost went back to bed. BECAUSE I DESERVE IT. I was in the midst of a one person pity party and was the honored guest.

However, after a few minutes of that sour attitude, I decided ENOUGH. I don't want to go through the day in such a sour mood. Sooooooo.....I put a smile on my face. It is almost impossible for me to stay in a sour mood while wearing a smile. My energy level has zoomed up and I'm looking forward to today's adventures.

OKay, I was thinking about going back to bed but knew I shouldn't so you've convinced me too. This would be a great morning to sleep in with rain coming down but the cleaning lady is coming today. The gutters are overflowing; I need to remind dh to call the gutter guy!

-clear kitchen counters
-email coworker/manager at office
-straighten family room

A couple weeks ago during one of my stops by DParents home, I found DMom on a ladder cleaning out their house gutters. She has people who would do that, but she wanted to do it herself. DMom body shakes from parkinsonism disease and she isn't stable on her feet......but there she was UP ON A LADDER. As I pulled into their driveway, I alternated between feelings of rage, laughter, fear and astonishment. She was so proud of herself for still being able to do it......but she knew she was BUSTED! i just shook my head and shared a "look" with DDad.

The beginning of casserole are in progress........6 summer squash and 2 onions are thinly sliced and simmering on the stove.

PODA is being developed on paper. I am using the same paper I used on Saturday.....and Sunday. Normally I want a clean paper to start each day, but this works too.

Partial PODA for the day:
-eye dr appt with dmom at 1 p.m. - that will take most of the afternoon
-get a letter into the mail to dd at camp
-routines
-temple DPC which I've procrastinated on doing
-need to continue with temple biz from last Friday, however, I'm not sure I'll have the time/heart to do it (also hard to work on with cleaning lady here)

Done with the round above, heading upstairs to straighten up and s2s

* restart WW counting of what I eat
* Pap smear
* return hymn books to second church
* grocery store
* probably pick up my senior friend for errands or a visit
* synch and update calendars - online home and church with my purse
* choir practice

There's more to be done but that's the start.

Another 'scorcher' here so I climbed out of bed at 6:10 and turned on the a/c to cool us off a bit before the electricity rates jump. The house stayed 10 degrees or more cooler than outside yesterday without a/c but it didn't get cold overnight so the house started the day too warm to keep cool. Windows and drapes are shut up now and just fans are on to keep humidity down. Must start a fan in the basement when I'm done on the treadmill.

Going to be a 'scorcher' here too, Kathryn. I've already turned on the AC before it got too hot in here.

I didn't get up until 7:35 and was just sitting here and heard voices going by -oh gads! It's Monday -and group from here walks at 8am on Mon, Wed, Fri. I quickly dressed and met them part way around. At least I got some steps in.

DH and I are both exhausted (if true to form I figure it'll take me about 3 days to recover). DH is out 'puttering' -everyone else thinks he's somewhat full bore, but for him it's 'puttering'. Dcampowner said yesterday he needs a written permission from the Dr. before he lets him go back to work.

Have to take DSGD12 for an MRI at some point today. DDIL will call as soon as she has things set up. DDIL is so ready for this baby to come but she has until July 11th to wait, unless this little guy decides to make an early appearance.

It is almost impossible for me to stay in a sour mood while wearing a smile.

Seems like I remember something from quite a ways back about starting our day with a smile -in front of a mirror maybe? You're right, Okay, it does change our attitude.

We aren't in scorcher category yet this year, but it is going to be humid & warm here today - 90% humidity with 90 degree temp.

I turned the oven on early this morning to cook the squash casserole. Once it cooked down, I packaged it into individual serving portions. Having an assortment of dishes to pull out of refrig at meal time makes it easier to serve 3 meals a day without using processed food.

Good morning everyone. My Monday Attitude today is to get back on track, catch up, and forge ahead. I've already made a stab at that.

Twins, replacing light fixtures, even if potential buyers don't like what you pick, has the appearance of updating a house. It will sell easier. DD1 bought a house a few years back that was about 10 years old. Sellers had gone through and changed all the light fixtures and it made quite a difference. Oh, I wanted to tell you I like cherry cabinets. They are very pretty. I couldn't convince DH to use them, he thought them too dark. What kind of counters are you getting?

Kathryn, I really like your picture. Hat is pretty as is your hair and dress. Too bad about the slaw. We have that happen all the time with our Memorial meals, some of mine were not touched much...we have no way of judging numbers except to guess based on what they think...and it is discouraging. Too bad it doesn't freeze well. If you rinsed the liquid off it, could you steam it up and freeze? I'd be tempted to try that, it'd go in soups then.

Lucylee, glad to hear your shower was a success! I'm sure DDiL has lots of good memories now.

Indiana, too bad about the frog. Did Jake see it inside?

Lilac mentioned a Monday closing, if it was today, I'm hoping for successful closing.
Lynlee, I hope DM and DB feel better soon.

Yesterday I was again worn out - or should I say still. Sat I had long nap. Sunday by the time I got done with church and a little grocery shopping and going back for DH I was worn out again and slept on and off all day. Up a few hours in the eve. to gather garbage and make lunches, then back to bed. I don't know if it was the physical work or the mental worry about this job that did me in, but I'm sure glad to be feeling better this morning (except for my back which is screaming at me, "why did you lay on me this many hours?"). It will get better, I just must keep moving around a bit.

LOL spinning. Bed remade. I bought another set of sheets at the store yest. That will make things easier. Desk chores started. Stacks to do there. Better get back to it.

OKay, I would leave my car doors open and hope for some squash! My squash vines got to about 6 leaves then withered up and died. I am very disappointed.

A positive attitude is oh so important.

I can breath this morning. I mean really breath. I was having trouble since Saturday. The air quality was bad but I couldn't get enough air. I had to increase my oxygen yesterday. I thought I needed to go to ER if it didn't improve. It was getting lower and lower.

Ah ha - I had a 6" slice in my tubing. All the air was leaking out and not getting in my lungs. I switched out the cannula and I can breathe.

I had checked all connections and they were fine. I was coiling up the tubing and I found it. That is only the second time I have had a slit.

We had two hot and humid days with bad air quality. Yesterday it turned around with cooling temps and the wind pushing out the bad air. We do need rain and we may get some this afternoon.

Not when the frog was alive just dead. He really liked that frog too. I am surprised the frog teased him. I thought it would just jump away.
