TIMING THURSDAY
Does that job really take as long as you think? Someone, I forget now who, mentioned the other day about things taking much less time than they thought. See if you can find a task today that doesn't take near the time you thought. For me I usually find that doing up the dishes doesn't begin to equal the time I figure!
Even after all these many years!

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
Harriet posted a cute 'comeback' in J&C last night -if you get a chance take a peek.
DH applied for disability yesterday so now we wait and see if he gets it and if so -how much. DDIL texted me yesterday that milk of magnesia applied to poison ivy is a big helper. Have never heard that -but will go pick some up today. I was in town yesterday and did I think of it? No. He's puttering around and finished bagging up returnables yesterday for here and is taking them in today. He & a friend worked for over 2 hours yesterday putting together a new grill for us. When we bought it the girl had said it was a real doozy putting together. I had $200 Cam ping World dollars (from 2 references for an RV similar to ours) and had been wanting a grill we could put on our deck. Maybe we'll use it more now. Won't be today -we're going to a town about 20 miles away for their church's strawberry festival.
stopped and called for an appointment for dh with our dentist -he has a sore spot under his plate. So have that at 2pm.
I really slept in this morning -until 7:40 when I had to get up to answer the phone -dd calling. Time to get dressed now, make the bed, etc., etc.

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
We are off to DH's chiro appointment. They seem to be helping - so that is good.
Then we have some more nursing home visits to make. All of DH's parent's relatives seem to be in the home. But less and less of them. DH and I are now the Oldest generation of both sides. Scary - does that mean we have to be respectable?
Time to boogie. I did get bed made and dishes done this am. Pat, pat on the back.

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
Glad dh is getting help, MT. You have more done than I do, I must say. Time for BGS here!
Been making cards for dh since he always seems to say, "I've got to do -------" for the umpteenth time!
Just too much whirling around in that brain. (Can we say "sidetracked"?) Now to put them where he can see/go through them, without laying them out. Just not that much room in this park model!
Ok, procrastination is over! Up and at 'em!

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
[rant] I am just generally out of sorts this morning. Woke up early and very tired and ddogs whinned at me to get up. Then remembered we were out of milk for coffee because ds used it up last night while we were out - I went out to try to buy more and nothing open yet. Convenience store would have probably been open in 15 minutes but I came home and made some disgusting milk from a dry mix and used it in coffee. Got ds to work early and came home for a little nap and ddogs woke me up barking after 45 minutes - there was a workman on our street marking trees for trimming. So I'm up and leaving the house again. [rant/]
So now I have a nonstop rest of the day - meet closet lady at new houses, get groceries, back home, then dr appt for dmom, then get ds home hopefully and then back out for a meeting at six p.m., that I'm not sure I can make. If time runs too short, ds will have to go to meeting, he has his computer and there's wireless there.
Okay, I'm off. Have to get gas and drop off water bill on the way to new house, in the "it's always something" category.

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
(((Twins)))) hang in there, GF!! You are doing awesome!
Good Morning!
I'm up on time and been going "great guns" since my feet hit the floor. Speaking of great guns.....yesterday we just happened to be @ the right place @ the right time to observe military rockets being launched. We saw the 4 streaks of light in the sky as they were launched and headed away from us, then about 10 seconds later the BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM and the vehicle shook for a couple seconds. Although this training happens frequently, it is rare for us to be in such a great viewing spot to observe it.
Today's primary focus is time with DGS17 & DGS15. LO always looks forward to these day/s!
I have jotted down several one-time things I want to accomplish today and an estimate of the time allotted to each. I play mind games with myself when i am reluctant to get started on something. I agree with myself to only work xxx minutes on it and that seems so easy that I jump right in and get going. It seems 90% of the time I am able to finish the task BEFORE the alloted minutes are up.

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
I am trying to get a number of things accomplished before going to the doctor this afternoon.
Twins I kept a 5 ounce can of evaporated milk on hand for times like you had this morning. It is ok in coffee - better than instant.

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
Today is my slipshod cleaning day. But dh has three conference calls so I'm not sure how much I'll get done.
We made a mistake with the programmable thermostat so when I came down to put on a load of laundry I could hear the system running. Except, it is cool outside, so the a/c should not have been on. It wasn't, we had it set for the heat to come on if the house fell below 70. That has been corrected, now the heat won't come on unless the house is below 61. I had the system turned off completely over the past few weeks but by Monday, I had to turn it back on and thought the programming was ok. It was for early spring (when the house could get quite cold and stay there for days on end) but not for this time of the year when under 70 is welcomed because it means the house won't go over 75 through the day even with the a/c off.
I've cleaned the bathroom, put out clean towels, hung one load of laundry on the line and will run the second load tonight because I want to use the dryer for that to shrink my pants a bit.

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
I think often of the time a young homemaker joined our previous site and ran her very careful new list of daily chores, with times, past us. Several said for her to go and really test her times, and find out which were overstated, and she was delighted to find that if she just kept moving she could pare those times down quite a bit.
A new timing for me this year has included being outside for sunshine around 10:00 on sunny days, for anyone in the family who can. Around 3 it would be good too, but it is so hot by then we resist it. My morning routine has a lot of timing in it, too, that it did not used to have. Thyroid med 1/2 hour before any food and 4 hours before multivitamin. Probiotic alone on an empty stomach with time before breakfast.
Interesting that the concept of planning part of my day around a little pill used to have no place in my days - I wouldn't have recognized it.
Dd13 has happiness right now that she can time her mornings so leisurely. She is getting up at 9:00 and I'm going to allow that for a while. Through the summer, she will have to move that time up to 6:00, but now is the timing of R and R!!!
I've been having dd notice the timer, set on 10 minutes, lately, to see how much can get done in that time. Dishes, pickup, etc.
lucylee, after you have seen a coyote, you don't need to see one again.
I'm still thinking about how big (size of doe deer) and bold this one was, and how frantic Sammie was. She was barking her deep power bark, the one that could put fear into the heart of a grown delivery man I think, but he was just looking at her unimpressed. And she stayed close to the house, pacing, so I know she believed he was a real threat. She may have known more than me - maybe there was more than one. After he was gone (we let him see us) she immediately "marked" the area where he'd been. Maybe Sammie really has more neighbor trouble than anybody.

Re: TIMING THURSDAY
Morning! I slept in a bit late today. I'm still sipping my first cup of caffeine. I've had my breakfast, a lovely low-carb one. I have even dust-mopped the kitchen, sunroom, and laundry room. Those are all one contiguous room in my MH. I still need to do the bathrooms. All you other ladies sound so busy today! My plan is to play a few hours of WoW, swish and swipe the bathrooms, dust mop the bathrooms, and maybe even get dressed. Some days I don't.
