Greetings from Dove-land . Life has been busy lately. All is well, though our family was on a rollercoaster with ddads health for a while. You are all in my thoughts even when I'm not here. Forgive me if I didn't acknowledge something important over the last couple of weeks; I won't have time to cuop so will just jump back in where I am.
Have spent the morning doing some gardening chores & a little cleaning. I'm leaving here in a few minutes to meet a dfriend for lunch, but want to head over to J&C first.

The first round in the garage is done. The mats will be turned and washed on the other side tomorrow. I washed the floor and it is drying now. There is rust coloured 'mold' coming up in places - not sure what it is but we treated it with bleach. Must remember to add bleach to my shopping list.
The outdoor work was interrupted by a mini choir practice. Our musician came over with a song for us to sing for her husband's transfer of membership on Sunday.
After she left, I finished up cleaning the front porch.
Remembered I'm supposed to be lemoning my hair today so had lunch on the back deck in the sun with no hat on. Then did 45 minutes of yard work. The last of the gardens are weeded and I cut off a ton of low branches from the maples on the corner lot. The boys who use the bus stop were whipping each other with them, which doesn't bother me any but it also means they are low enough to block line of sight for cars at the corner.
I'm now going to s2s and then get back outside with the apple cider vinegar to dry my hair in the sun. Must remember to bring my lemon spray bottle with me on holiday so I can keep this up. Not that I notice a bit of difference but I have only done one treatment so far and you are supposed to do several in a week or two and then only once a month or so.
Lucylee: we have a water softener so I wonder if that helps stop build up. I haven't clean my shower walls (made of tile) in 19 years. I just wipe them down after every shower. They are lovely and shiny. You could just have dh spray the walls with vinegar and water and then wipe them off each time. That should help remove the soap scum while it is still soft.
Back from chiro appt. and laundromat. Haven't put them away yet - but I'll get to it.
No Amish buggies here. Most of the Mennonites here are not old order. In other words, they don't do the plain dress or buggies. Most of the Amish are from PA, WI, IN, etc. They hire someone to drive them here in a big van with a trailer behind with the luggage.
They used to come out via the train before they were discontinued. It is a real boon to the economy of this small town. There are 3 motels and a big hotel. Plus cafes, laundromat, grocery stores, etc. that depend on these visitors. The clinic must see about 100 people per day and they usually stay a week and get the series of treatments. DH's Great Uncles started the clinic and now the great grandsons of those men are entering the practice.
Best get the clean clothes put away and then stitch some more on my stitchery. I need to get it done by the end of July when we are at our DD#1's house.

I'm back from yard sales got some free clothing t-shirts I've been wearing are getting tattered looking yea for new to me items. Found a $2 coffee pot like we have and love mr. coffee w/ timer & clock on it but it's been leaking SO glad for this find plus a cloth for small table with fun water melon print might make a bag out if it!
Kathryn, no luck w/the vinegar & water. DH cannot stand the smell of vinegar. I was going to soak it in vinegar water mix last night, and he fussed and fussed when he started smelling it in the bedroom!
Like I said, he wipes it down after every shower. I do not understand this at all.
This is a fiberglass shower, not tile, but that probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference.
Lucy - if you have been using an SOS pad on fiberglass you have probably scratched it. We have fiberglass in the RVs so we have seen it done no matter how careful you are. The scratches are microscopic but it collects the soap scum and dulls the finish. A quick trick to fix it is to wax it after you get it clean. Use regular paste car wax and buff it with an old t-shirt. It might take 2 or 3 coats but it will bring back the shine and then when he wipes it down it will stay shiny. Then after that never use an SOS pad. Get a micro fiber towel and use that. Make sure you don't use anything abrasive even Soft Scrub. Just sprays and the micro fiber towel.
Got the clean clothes put away except for a couple of things that were still damp. The humidity here is really getting to me - it is 48% and about 88*. Give me my good old 3% in AZ anytime.

Wal-mart was fun today--found lots of things I "needed". Good thing I don't go there every week. Stopped at favorite thrift store. Saw 2 lamps that I probably should have bought, but no time to re-do them, so will let someone else have all the fun of that! Groceries are in the house. DH will be pleased to have snacks again.
Nancy--I love yard sales! DD and I used to have so much fun making the rounds on Saturday morning. I get a thrill from finding something useful for 25 cents. Last week at the neighbor's sale, I got a brand new wooden salad bowl set for $2. Using the big wooden bowl on coffee table to hold the remote.
Lucylee--When fiberglass gets scratched, it is a pain to keep clean. I have resorted to SOS pads too, which I know makes even more scratches.
Our Amish in this area are quite "modern". I see some of them have cellphones. And there are always a bunch of them on the computers at the library! Have gotten used to seeing bonnets everywhere--even at the mall. When we visited DD, I found myself wondering where all the Amish people were. She's not in Amish country, like we are.
I just talked to dd - she had a little bit of time and went to the area of camp where she has cell phone reception and called. Good to hear her voice - I think she's having fun. It's interesting to hear her on the other side - she was venting about the kid who wouldn't brush her teeth, or another who took her bed apart because she had sand in it, and dumped the sand inside on the floor, or another who wants to sleep in her sweaty clothes. Sounds like the soundtrack I've lived the last few years, LOL.
I think that dh and I are going to video a couple of minutes of music tonight on our cell phone and send it to her. She said she would love to see this show, and I honestly don't know of a single song they actually sing.
Ds rec'd first paycheck today and took it to the bank.

Hello all. Last night was my final dog watering visit to XDH's house. I also finally remembered to call the pet sitter and she is coming tonight for me to show her where everything is. I have done some financial paperwork and ordered checks. I have DD from tonight until Thursday. YIKES!!! I am not sure how to keep her entertained. I need to inventory the freezer and get some groceries for dinner and her lunches. My lunches too. For my birthday week, i went out to lunch every day and I cannot keep doing that. XDH wants me to have DD all the weekend, he is not willing to keep her while I do cat clinic. He will have to see her to receive a Father's Day card or gift. DD and I are spending the night at a friends Saturday after a girl scout meeting. I wish XDH would go to the meeting, it is to discuss next weeks campout which he will be doing.
