The village here is a busy and inhabited garden as we think of each other, scurrying around with tasks, remembering each one, wondering what she might say to us today with wisdom!

It's DebmasterX's birthday today. Happy Birthday! This makes me think of several villagers we don't see too often any more. So I'm sending out many "close in spirit" thoughts in lots of directions.

HRH was up and away early today. There are certain things I can't do until he gets back, that would probably surprise most homemakers. For instance, I don't S2S when he's not here to be in charge of the house. When my ddad takes a nap, I might talk to dd13 and see if she feels confident that I can.

I'm frustrated to have the vertical muscle pain in the back of the thigh/glute today that took 3 days to get rid of last time, resorting to aspirin. Sciatic-type aaaccchy pain, but likely only because the swollen muscle is alongside the sciatic nerve, not really about the nerve. I wish I knew what causes this. HRH suspects driving. Maybe I didn't get enough water, too much sodium, maybe the stars aren't aligned correctly, I didn't hold my pinky finger at the proper angle, I don't know. But I know I shouldn't take aspirin because of digestive system pain from it. If I must, later, I will need to have quite a meal to "cushion"!

Good morning, villagers ~

Today's high is predicted 95 with heat index of 102. Already drinking large glasses of water!

DH put the a/c box in the bedroom window last night. It's a little early in the summer season, but this heat wave is supposed to last several days.

We didn't get anything done over the weekend that we'd planned, but it was still a nice one.

I do wish I could have convinced DH to go to his mom's Saturday, because I suspect that most of the brothers and sisters were stopping by. He dug in his heels and said no. In his defense, there is a lot of road work between here and there so everything is a torn-up mess and takes a lot longer to drive. We'll see everyone in a couple of weeks at DBIL's retirement party.

Today's goal is to get that costume cut out. It's a satin dress with sheer sleeves, so needs additional time to lay out the pattern. It doesn't look too challenging except she gave me 2 patterns to combine and they are different sizes. Once I figure it out and get the fabrics cut, though, it looks like it will sew together relatively quickly. It isn't a complicated corset dress, just a simple tunic shape with flowing sleeves.

Words of wisdom...a favorite aunt always said "Never write anything down that you would be embarassed or ashamed to see on the front page of the newspaper." I must remember that as I post here!

My day is wide open. Hope to accomplish much, but must stay off computer! Hope today is a good one for us all.

Happy Birthday to DebmasterX'!

That reminds me of a question Harriet asked a couple days ago that I didn't get answered. The Deb I was referring to is known as Clean Kut on the old SHE board. It is interesting to me to note that after being FB friends with several SHE's, I've started thinking of them with their real names instead of alias we use on forums.

Yesterday Father Day went well. DSon called DH and wished him Happy Father's Day. DSon & family are on family vacation. We have been receiving pictures of DGS5 & DGD1 doing vacation/beach activities the last few days. DD sent me email with Happy Father Day message to give to DH. DH & DDad both love a good grilled steak so I did them on the charcoal grill and reach "perfection" status (according to DH). I was thrilled with the outcome since I'm not an experienced "griller". We also took DDad a couple of small gifts and card.

This morning I'm driving DMom to a doctor appt. DDad will ride along with us to get him out of the house a bit and so he won't be alone. Their van is set up with multiple portable oxygen tanks and an inverter so he can continue to take his breathing treatments while he is away from home.

We slept in a bit this morning because we could.

So far I have put up the meds/vitamins for the week, and done a long walk with DH. We are at the Fairgrounds where I spent a lot of my youth doing 4-H projects and exhibits. It is 3 miles from the farm where I grew up.

It is sad to see that a lot of the buildings that I remember are gone but there are a lot of new buildings, too. The landscape is a bit neglected, however.

Today is a nothing day as far as meeting with family. My brother will fly in around noonish but for some reason - my sister planned two appointments, one for all morning and one for all afternoon so we won't be going over there. My DS and DDIL are headed to DeSmet to visit the Laura Ingles Wilder museum with DGD#6. DD#2 will hang out with DNeice and pick up DBro.

So we will probably do some shopping - need some food and vitamins - and hang out resting today.

My little brain can only hold so much information so I resolutely refer to all SHEs by their aliases and not their real names, even when I've met them in person! When I get an email from a SHE and stare at the real name, it confuses me.

I'm overwhelmed today. I'm going to walk away from the computer for a while in the hopes that I'll get something done.

This afternoon I have an eye appointment (waste of time because it is a checkup about my eye inflammations which have been well-behaved lately) and meeting up with our Montreal friend who is in town today.

It is going to be a scorcher here today with a heat index of 100.

I didn't tell you I figured out to get it to rain here - just tell you all we need it. Even though the prediction was for 20% we got severe storms including 2" hail. The biggest hail I had ever seen and hard rain. Finally it changed to a gentle rain.
