Today starts at least 7 straight days of forecasted 100+ degree days! It is also windy.

Dh left yesterday for his 8 day/7 night, which might end up being 9 day/8 night motorcycle trip to Canada. They were in Sioux Falls, SD last night. They are heading northeast out of there and it looks like they will riding in rain.

Either tonight or tomorrow night I will be at dd2, watching the 2 little girls so that dd2 and her dh can have a night out. I am planning to just spend the night there, so that I don't have to come home late, by myself. Although our garage is attached to the house, it opens onto a covered area that leads to the front door. It is one thing to be coming late with dh or with dh at home and another to do it by myself. There are 2 open areas that are arched off of the the covered area. We have talked about having wrought iron gates made that can be locked. Since they will be custom made, they will be pricey but would be worth it for the security.

When dh gets back from his trip, his work will really begin around here. The fence that attaches to both sides of the front, each have a gate. When the wind blows which is most of the time, the fence just sways back and forth. It could be pushed over very easy. So he gets to tackle that project.

Just talked to dd1, she is 2 1/2 hours away from home on a scrapbook event. I was really surprised that she went ahead and went, since dgd15 would be coming home last night from cheer camp and dealing with the loss of her friend. Dd1 is really feeling guilty that she is not here. Dgd15 spent the night at dd2 house and that way the 2 dgd15 could be together after they returned from camp and continue to deal with the loss of their friend.

Guess I better get a shower and get started with my day.........

Beautiful here, 78 and only supposed to get into the lower 80s. Clear and sunny too!

Small group will be here at 5. I hope to get in some more yard work, and dh will help get the kids moving to put their stuff away. It is mostly their stuff strewn on the coffee table and granite kitchen island. House needs to be tidied.

Looks like we will have more rain today. And weather people are watching the Gulf to see how the weather will develop. It could have an impact on our area, so it's just wait and see for now.

Weekend cleaning is done. Dfam#1 will be here this afternoon unless the rain chases them. They haven't been here in about a month; we last saw them two weeks ago when we went to their house.

Yesterday I spent cleaning out one of the closets. I was looking for one thing, but decided I would not put everything back. There are a lot of papers, receipts and bank records, that need to be shredded; don't want that in our trash pick up. I got a good workout since I'm not used to climbing up and down on chairs much.

I need to let the ddogs out before the rain starts, and fix a quick lunch so I can get the kitchen cleaned again.

Oh yes, Twins, that is the way to pack! We used it when we moved dd, Shelley, out of her house in 2002 and other dd in FL used it when they moved from their little house to their present one. Made things so much easier!

Probably spent the past 2 hours figuring out how to get pictures/documents from my printer/scanner to my computer. Finally got it down and copied & pasted some recipes from a couple of booklets. I am determined to get all those pamphlet type recipe books down to zero this summer. I'm taking the used ones up to the laundry room for anyone to grab. So far anything I've taken up there has been taken (either that or someone is trashing them -which I just couldn't do)

I want to start getting all our photos on to a flash drive(s). That'll probably take the rest of my life! If I want a picture here -it's in FL. If I want one in FL -it's here! Be easy to carry back and forth on flash drives I'm thinking. I've already asked for a gadget that transfers slides to pictures, etc. Guess I should look and see if my scanner will accept one of those slides before spending the money.

Dd13 insisted I look at Google today. She had enjoyed the math puzzle that's there today and gotten through the first level of six. I don't think she realizes there's a second level. But, like the old vaudeville joke, it just doesn't take me long to look at digital code.

More immediate math - my online calorie counter is acting up. It "thinks" today is yesterday. So that means I'm back to pad and paper without quick calculations of sodium, protein, etc. I feel very primitive! I've grown so used to instant answers on my foods and on my own tally of daily intake. I've pondered this eventuality and wonder if it has something to do with shutting down my page at exactly 12:00 last evening, according to my history. I've emailed support.

Lilac, it sounds like the girls will have good support from each other and Mom/Aunt in familiar surroundings now.

Twins' Mom, do you fear that the POD will get so hot the temperatures might cause any damage? I guess it's not going to be so long. To me, shade should be considered when you place it at the new house, unless you are reassured by the company that it is ventilated enough.

I was outdoors this morning, taking care of animals and getting my sun. There is one more chore for the heat of the day - ice for the hens. Otherwise, I am so grateful to be indoors. I do have a grocery list, but I am trying to get around it until much later in the day. Cats can eat dog food, right?

I searched back through the online calorie counter records and found a day I didn't use. So now at least I have a place to record and calculate! Still frustrating to me to have these records messed up, although I don't print them out and seldom look back through them. If I'd been busy today and not gotten to the calculator I'd never have given this a second thought! Funny how not being allowed to do something makes it so much more desirable a thing to do!

Harriet, I'd heard it the other way around, dogs shouldn't eat cat food, too much protein or something.

It's grey and drizzley again. Tropical disturbance is south and west of us, scheduled to intensify (99% sure of that) but they don't know if it'll go east or west. At any rate Sunny and I are both on the East side of this thing so we will be getting lots of rain. I'm happy we'll get lots of rain, it will ease the drought. Hoping the wind speeds aren't too bad.

I'm taking it slow today - for me - and I'm cleaning up this house ooze. Trailers aren't the only ones that get this ooze! I must clean up piles of papers on my desk, and I must clean up the dining/sewing area. I want to sew in there but can't right now. Big project has me digging into files and spreading things out a lot. Dining room table is pretty much covered. At least I've made progress in the kitchen so far. One LOL hanging up, under roof out of the way of wind and rain. It will take a long time to dry.

TV was grim last night. I had dreams.

I am done DOOONNNNEEE with squash. I just finished processing the last I want (and probably more than I will every use!). I'm debating whether to pull the prolific plants up or keep harvesting them. HUM....why is so hard for me to destroy healthy plants.....they have served their purpose......??? I could keep gathering them and carry bags of squash with me & attempt to find unlocked car doors everywhere I go.

We are similar to Lilac weather - facing multiple days of 100+ heat. Each year when the heat reaches this point, it seems to take several days to get used to it. Yesterday DBro (who works outdoors 99% of the time) was so hot and sweaty that he had a hard time lifting his boot up high enough to get it into the stirrup. His jeans were so wet (sweat) that they stuck to his leg and wouldn't "give" like they normally do. I normally mow with a push mower, but yesterday I opted to use the riding mower. Activities that are normally done without much thought have to be adjusted when the weather extremes start playing a factor.

Dh and I have had a productive session and I'm ready for a nap break. We pulled out all the stuff from under the eaves storage in our playroom/craft room because we need to have an exterminator shut out our little squirrel visitors. Tomorrow a.m. when it's still cool we need to up the pull down stairs to get anything out of attic storage. Dh's comic books were in a closet in the playroom that backs up to eave storage, and that was a big job to move. These are comic books from my dfather, who used to sell them at the flea market as a hobby and dh has taken some from my dmom's house over the years. She probably has thousands more.... I also cleaned out a bunch of financial records that can go to be shredded - I've just started a big box.

We also did a fair amount of work in the garage, trying to move stuff to the POD to have more yard sale room, and so people won't be asking about other stuff in the garage. I went through a box that must have been the last box we packed at my MIL's in November, 1993 - it had a Rubbermaid canister of sugar still intact! I pulled out some stuff to keep, put some in yard sale and rest to garbage can, including the sugar.

Going to nap, and dh is watching TV.

Tomorrow, we also need to go under the screened porch and deck and pull out the stuff that's down there...

x having some lunch. Late, I know. . I actually like having lunch late. It means I'm not hungry in the late afternoon, which is when I often start snacking.

Thinking of Harriet on 2 counts. (1) I am having hot dogs (Hebrew National 97% Fat Free - 1 WW point each) for lunch and just discovered the ketchup is gone. Dkids apparently brought it over to S and R's house while we were gone and forgot to bring it back with them. I don't need a cup, but a couple tablespoons would be more than sufficient. .. . (2) I showed the google Turing puzzle to ds before I left for the groc. store. He is familiar with Turing due to a project he did 2 years ago on the Enigma Code. When I got back to the groc. store, ds had gotten dd14 into them too. He left the computer and she continued. It was my laptop - so I had to kick her off.

I also ordered a cake for ds' party next Saturday while I was at the groc. store.

Next:
-finish lunch
-prep and put potatoes in for baking; they're pretty small
-dust living areas
-s/s bathrooms

Kids are supposed to do their weekly vacuuming chores and put al their stuff away. Dh has gathered all their stuff and piled it on the stone island.
