LOL, on the squash intervention, OKay.

I got off track - when I started putting the challah ingredients together, I realized I need eggs. So made quick trip to grocery, and, by the time I got back the cleaning lady was working downstairs and in the kitchen, so I took a break upstairs (read: nap) while she finished up. So I still need to get the challah going.

At the grocery, I picked up some pimento cheese which was wonderful for lunch. Harriet, this was Palmetto brand. I've had pimento cheese on the brain since Harriet mentioned it the other day. My dmom used to make pimento cheese occasionally - finely grated cheese, mayo, diced drained pimentos, salt, pepper and a little milk to thin down the consistency.

Dh called and had gone by the new house - electrical work is continuing, and someone is also working on heat and a/c. Email from work about coming in tomorrow, so that probably blows away tomorrow's progress. OTOH, if we can we this tax return finished, maybe I won't have to go in again until August 1.

So the first thing is to get the challah going.

Okay--I'm laughing here about the squash! Have had that problem before. At the time, our church had a "Harvest Table" where anyone could drop off their excess and it was available free to anyone else who wanted it. That might not work in your part of the country as I can imagine lots of gardens bursting at the seams. Have also been overrun with cucumbers, but would send kids around to neighbors and could usually get rid of those. Never dreamed I would ever pay $1 for a cucumber! Was also horrified at the price of a package of 4-5 small yellow squash at the grocery store last week. Did not buy it.

Also smiling at squash intervention needed. Dh and kids only planted tomatoes this year. We planted very late, but the plants look happy so far. We're watering them regularly.

I'm glad my posts bring back good memories, elly. I can feel frustrated sometimes at the amount of time I spend driving kids around and coordinating their activities w/ the rest of the family, etc. But I know these years are coming to an end - fast. It's good.

x 3 phone calls: 2 to dermo. office - one for dd14 and one to change ds' appt. Then, called dfriend re: witnessing a form I had signed for dd16's drivers ed.
x a.m. routine is done.
x went through my summer calendar to send off possible dates for dd16 to have a 4-day "camp" with her "art teacher," a friend from church who is a professional artist. THAT took a while.
x made a li&t for the week
x started the menu plan and groc. list
x paid yard guy who has finished.

Phone calls made - handyman maybe end of week, left message for yard guy, and set up appt for dMacs for Friday for bloodwork. Also emailed builder's "designer" about our new house front door. We selected a front door with divided panes on the top 2/3s of the door, and the designer had us choose a color to paint the door. The only thing is that the mullions are internal to the door so they can't be painted to match the rest of the door. I think the white stands out like a sore thumb against the red door. The house is a deep gray/navy, with white trim and now, a red front door. But the white panes on the front door look stupid to me.

Next up, some temple biz. I ate too much pimento cheese for lunch!

Squash give away idea some folks take 'em to the food bank and our local thrift shop loves 'em gives those away w/ or w/out purchase! Maybe the squash fairy can leave some in the break room at hubby's work! Okay how many squash plants do you have? What kind?

I've been busy journaling is done plus I brought the area rug back in to vacuum, then I
rounded up sorted & started laundry, sheets are off the bed ~ while that was going did watering on my squash pumpkin plants maybe having the above mentioned challenge later on. One tomato is starting to turn yea!
dishes are loaded plus I've spiffed up the kit.
tossed 2 piles of paper work while I was clearing papers off dining table.
Time to flip flop the wash now.

It's great to have the grand daughters maybe coming gave me a goal to shoot for getting the place in shape. Having a spot of tea now that was a productive 45 min.

I am trying to be normal today....Been working on my office and glad for the distraction. Now I'm into redoing the guest bedroom closet. Some of the stuff in there really should be in the office closet. And now I have space to accommodate it. Putting my nervous energy to work.

Okay...laughing at your squash situation. My DB has a home garden in NJ...he can make anything grow. When he gets to the busting point, he loads up his little red wagon, leashes his dog and walks around the neighborhood giving away his bounty. During the late summer's eve, every one listens for his whistling. He doesn't get very far up the street before his wagon is empty. Some of his neighbors will call and ask if he has any "give aways" Maybe you should open up a produce stand and teach LO how to count money Hope the court thing goes well as I know how courts in your state works. Not fast that's for sure.

Twins...moving is never fun no matter how good you are at it. I have packed over 10 houses that were more than 1500 sq ft....some were 4000...by myself and usually with a toddler by my side. The only advice I can give you is to make sure you label the items going into the box as well as the room that the box should go in. I also use those big colorful dots you can buy at an office supply store to mark my boxes. Usually you only get 4 colors...but by putting multiples of the same color on a box you can expand their use. For example...one yellow means the kitchen, two yellows mean the guest bathroom first floor and three yellows in a triangular shape means the box goes in the living room. Then I make a master sheet so I won't for get, cause I do. then before the movers start to unload, I hand them a copy of the color code and then I walk them through the house to show them which room is which. That way they know where to put everything without having to ask me. I even put stickers on the furniture including my wooden rocking chair.

OKay, I almost fainted to think you'd pull up those squash plants. I've been trying and trying for years to get any to grow here and produce. For some reason I can't get anything viney to be successful. Cucumbers, watermelon, zucchini...they get so far then they wither. I'm still trying. currently I have honeydew melon seeds ready to plant. I keep trying.

We are grey / bright right now. A few heavy bands came through today. The one this morning was particularly nasty. But we are ok.

I waited for a bit of sunshine then I ran out to post office and bank. I wore my garden shoes for washability, but forgot they are so worn out there is no tread. Parking lots were slippery as was post office floor. I walked around gingerly, like a little old lady so I wouldn't slip. Got DGS13 (I have a teenaged grandson now!) birthday pkg wrapped and mailed. Today is DH's BDay. Cards distributed. Not planning a lot. We're going out to eat with DFiL in another week for his birthday.

I'm supposed to be doing proposals for DH. He's taking a nap. I must get them done now.

Dh and I did an 80 minute walk. Went up to Seaside Seafood, not to eat, just to see how long it will take. The answer is 40 minutes. There are six of us and only 5 will fit in any car so if two of us walk up and the others drive, only one person has to walk back. This is a fried food haven so definitely need to walk there.

Ds is currently walking/running 5 miles up to White Point. When he gets there he's to call us and we'll drive up and hike in with him, then go on to the grocery store to get fresh bread for tonight's dinner. The villa smells wonderful as dsil just made a pot of tomato sauce. We are having a variation of chicken parmigiana for dinner tonight. I need more ice cream, berries and tea biscuits because ds is assembling strawberry shortcakes for dessert.

Squash plants - there are about 1/2 dozen yellow crooked neck squash plants that are producing like crazy. Each plant is about 6'x6'x3' tall (at least). I'm trying to think of them as clutter now. If I can just convince myself they are in the clutter category, then I could do away with them. In years past, I used to take extra vegetables to MPB and give them away to customers. However, this year a VDFriend asked if he could set up a vegetable stand at MPB and sell his vegetables from LARGE garden. Giving free vegetables away next to his stand of selling them just doesn't seem right. I could give these squash to him to sell, but then the hassle factor starts rearing its head. Someday when LO is older, I think it would be a good way for him to learn several lessons, but this isn't the year for it.

Besides those squash plants are just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more vegetables that are exploding from garden. I'm ignoring the ??dozens?? of spaghetti squash because they will stay on the vine until later. The cucumbers are growing like crazy too, but I keep up with them by eating most of them when they are about 3". But the plants that are out-of-control the most is the pumpkins. Those plants went up and over the corn stalks and are now about a dozen feet into the yard. Watch out world......they are growing their way to your neighborhood soon.

Called paralegal. Lawyer is still in court (other cases) so paralegal doesn't have access to our folder yet.....but she knew the bare minimum of what happened in court this morning. We are now on court calendar end of September for a 2 day trial.
