FRIDAY FANS

Post by DeeClutter »

Well, we COULD be fans of Friday -but by the weather maps it simply looks like most of us will need fans today -at the very least. Stay cool out there.

DH and DS-R & DGS7 are going to the race track early today to practice a little. By early -oh 8:30. DH & I both looked at each other wondering how that was early -especially on a day to reach mid-high 90's. :D But probably early for DGS.

DH's phone rang shortly after we went to sleep last night -little after 10. It was gd looking for her Mom who had most likely taken the dog out. The rest of the night I spent either awake or with a very long nightmare that still has the feel of being with me. I even turned the AC down in our room thinking we might sleep better if it was a bit cooler.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Dee - love the way you think! Today's start made me smile. ((((Hugs)))) for the rough night.

Today's focus is FNG gathering in our home. The house is in good shape so it will just be preparing snacks/drinks/seating.

Thinking of Indiana and hoping she is getting good care.

Yes, it will be well over 90 for us from here, to lunch with friends to home.

HOME!!!!! I can't stand these one-night stands so am looking forward to being home.

This hotel has been fantastic so we will be coming back here if we ever need to be in Albany again. Like in a couple of weeks when we do the Boston/NYC run.

I'm slow moving this morning and can't be because it is 3 hours to Ithaca and we need to be there by 1, preferably earlier.

It is supposed to get up to 100 here today.

I really like Ithaca, kathryn! I remember it as a very charming little city, very hilly, lots of parks surrounding it, the Finger Lakes too. We lived in the area our first year after grad school. Dh's first real job was with IBM in Endicott? My first job after finishing schooling was working with the refugee community in Binghamton. It was quite sizeable at the time since that was a major refugee resettlement site. We also lived in Binghamton but went to Ithaca as often as we could.

I couldn't get back to sleep after waking up around 6:30. I stayed in bed for another hour, but I was just fretting about how to get everything done today. SO, I'm up to make a plan. I think I can do double duty twice today. During dd14's oboe lesson, I can go get my blood drawn. I didn't end up doing it yesterday when I took the girls b/c I accidentally ate 2 grapes while checking my calendar first thing in the morning. Not until after I had swallowed them did I realize what I had done! So, I can do try #2 today. The lab isn't far from the oboe teacher's house. Dd16 has a meeting at the church 1 - 2:30. During that time, I can collect rocks which I need for an activity for the Senior Celebration evening, occurring the day after I return. A friend who lives pretty close to the church has some of the type of rocks I need, so I'm hoping I can just swing by their house. I'll already be on that side of town.

As much as I don't want to go to WW this morning, I think I really need to go. I may just bite the bullet and go to their 9:30 meeting. I can stop by the bank and then be home in time to gather dd14 and take her to her oboe lesson.

I've been up since around 6 when the ddogs woke me.

Very long day yesterday - I took a "scenic detour" and it ended up taking me 4 hours to get to camp; as it was that was okay because Z was late getting back to camp (he went on a bus to ATL to get camp kids to airport) and he got back about the time I did. Picked up dd and Z and we headed home; drove through a gust front of scary, scary winds the last hour of the drive with things blowing to get home around 8 p.m. to no power. At least I was ready to go to bed early. ;) I haven't seen an estimate of the wind strength but about 26000 were w/o electricity last night.

Power came back on about 30 minutes ago, thank goodness. I had read the paper outside and I had iced coffee concentrate for coffee. I've started the dryer, which I hadn't started yesterday the last time I rebooted the laundry.

Another busy day here. Had to make a cell temple phone call last night and there's an issue that needs to be resolved today. Dh and I have final walk through of new house at 10, then closing at 1:30 today and we will own two houses. I'd still like to skip services tonight but dh says we "should go." He's all about the "shoulds" when my time is involved. DD and Z need to share the car today as they both have errands to run and shopping to do. (For those who don't remember, Z grew up with ds and dd and is ds' best friend - he's working at the same camp as dd and is staying with us for this break from camp.)

And now the wildlife guy is here in the attic....glad the power is back on because he's vacuuming up squirrel poop.

I need to s2s and be out of here in an hour.

For some reason the beast (Macs) is wound up this morning. He got between me and the wildlife guy barking at him, and he's barking incessantly...

Twins - Boo to scary winds and no electricity. Glad you are okay!

Outside cards done. it is such a beautiful morning with cool air (80's) instead of the over 100's that will happen later today.

Just finished creating an account for Lowe's build and grow program and getting LO registered for July clinics. Lowes is awesome about offering free building clinics to children and it is always a fun activity for LO.

Sitting here staring out the window at foal trying to eat grass. It's legs are so long that it's mouth can't reach the ground without positioning it's front legs W-I-D-E apart which are so wide apart it is almost doing the splits! Then it can nibbles on a few bites of grass before standing back up normal. Squish tail .....then repeat sequence. :D It is still nursing it's momma so doesn't need to reach the grass for it's substance, but I guess it is nature way of getting it started eating a little at a time.

Ready to roll so time to pack up the computer.

Dh received a trans-atlantic call this morning re a project in New Zealand. He put in a no-bid on the project before leaving so the client changed the terms of the project so dh can bid. In the meantime an English friend would also like to use dh in his bid. Thus the call this morning.

I've sent off an email about my upcoming preaching (I'm after a copy of the bulletin and all the info I need like who chooses hymns.) As I showered this morning I came up with a sermon spark for the first of the readings.

So now I need to turn my head towards home.

Oh, Harriet!! If only your quote was true! It's back to work for me today, so no lazing around (unless you count the last half hour checking emails and having a cup of coffee).

One week tomorrow is the big day for DD! She's heading down there a few days early (will stay with DSinl's family) to get things ready for the reception at the hall. We're all working on getting the last few details put in place, and dealing with last minute emergencies that keep cropping up.

Need to get myself moving here...deal with the critters, get dressed, grab some lunch, and get off to work.

DH is off to breakfast with HS friend and then we will have lunch with his cousin and wife.

I suddenly realized that HS friend was coming about 10 minutes before he got here. Did quick pick up of footsteps and then jumped in shower. As shower is in the middle of the MH - and NO room to dress in bath - HS friend had to stay outside.

I have finished dressing and picking up footsteps and now will eat breakfast and do dishes.

HS friend brought back sample curio shelf that was DDads. I need to put that away before I do anything. Think it will fit under bed or under couch. I'm glad to get this back as one of the shelves will fit perfectly in my decor in the house and give me a place to display some of our carvings.

 Twins' Mom - if you could have Macs' sense-ibilities you'd understand.. ... Macs is trying to tell you the guy smells like a hoard of jungle beasts! Even with freshly purchased clothing, animal scents would probably linger on his boots, belt, the brim of a hat, even. Undoubtedly his truck odors are alerting Macs, too, to whatever varmints recently had to evacuate. Macs has a good nose, and can tell this guy has definitely been hanging out with the wrong crowd - he should not be allowed to approach Twins' Mom!
