SIGNIFICANT SATURDAY

How is today shaping up to be significant for you? Hopefully here it will mean the start of a bit of a cooling trend. Think the heat/pollen, etc are affecting me healthwise. By the time I'm out in the evening for a bit I begin to feel pretty puny.

It will be a significant day later on as our family gathers to celebrate June/July birthdays (DH, DS-A, DS-R, DDIL-A, DDIL-R, gd13, and by Wed. we'll have another July b'day). DDIL-R's Dad & stepmom are also supposed to be here. Have no idea what time we're talking today. Going to put together a "mock" rosa marina salad. Reminds me I'd best get the cool whip in the fridge to thaw. Trivia: the only place cool whip is made in the country is 11 miles from here. DD keeps trying to find out if they have some kind of tour so she can take dgs's.

I must make myself do a LOL today. I suppose if I go in and strip the bed I will HAVE to do something with it.

It is singing Saturday for us. The first mass choir practice is this morning at 9:30. We are taking our musician with us so have to be out the door at 8:30 so we can pick up mail and her. I need to s2s and eat breakfast. I've had my tea and chocolate already.

We have finished reversing the 'house-leaving' list. Still have to restart one clock but have to wait until after 9:15 to do that. I'm also puttering around the house putting things back, one at a time while I wander around.

I've also soaked my mouth guard in bleach. That's supposed to be done monthly or as needed but I haven't done it since March. I had forgotten it was clear!

Yesterday felt like 40 (104F) yesterday but the actual temp was just 95. Today is cloudy and won't feel as hot but there's still a heat warning even though it will only get into the mid 80's.

Dee, I like Significant Saturday! It's our first full day of owning two homes - we closed on new house yesterday afternoon! Now comes the moving and we're not nearly done packing here. After closing dh and I came home, I took a short nap and both of us continued with some packing. We took dkids out to eat last night at favorite Italian restaurant - both were in a very good pleasant mood and they were getting along so it was a nice evening. Z spent the evening with his dmom and brother.

Need to be leaving here soon to get dd and Z back to camp; they are supposed to be there by noon. Google maps indicates it's a little more than 2.5 hours, however it usually takes longer because there are some narrow mountain roads. It took 4 hours on Thursday, with my scenic detour.

Twins: it was on the care sheet from the dentist. I could also have used a denture cleaner and done that more often but he found bleach worked better and faster. After 30 minutes you remove it, scrub it well with a nail brush and toothpaste (he only recommends nail brushes, not toothbrushes, since they are stronger and will do a better job) and then soak for at least 8 hours in plain water, then brush again with toothpaste before putting it in your mouth.

When I got the guard I had to go shop for a nail brush and found a set at the dollar store where the smaller one fits in the case with my guard so I can travel with it easily.

Congratulations, Twins, on the new house. Hoping your present house will sell fairly quickly once it's on the market. How soon are you moving? Not easy thing -moving. Even though we've downsized a lot, moving from one RV to another was no easy task last year. Finally dawned on me a while back that a desk 'thing' that one would put over chair arms is among the missing. I believe I had it between the old couch and the wall. It would have been easily missed -obviously. Saw one in a catalog and thought, "that would be handy in here" when it dawned that I already had one and started thinking about it. Wonder if new owners of the old RV ever came across it.

DH wants DS-A & DDIL to list their pool table on C raig's l i s t. Too bad noone ever thought to take pictures before it was stored in our storage area. It is very heavy and too difficult to remove for pictures, put back and then take it out again. It would free up 'significant' room in our storage. Sure nothing will happen for a while anyway with dbaby arriving within 4 days. Can't wait to hold this little guy.

Sure looks like rain but know it's not supposed to.

I did strip my bed. Just had breakfast so it must be time to head up to the laundry room. Hopefully I haven't waited too long.

I'm up and sort of at 'em. One week today is DD's big day! We've been watching the weather forecasts, and now it's saying that day will be sunny and hot! Let's just hope that doesn't change too much.

It's another payroll day for me, although with this gorgeous weather we're having, I'd really rather stay home and putter in the garden!

Ah well...it is what it is...and I have to go deal with critters and get ready to leave.

It IS going to rain/storm. Dd reserved a pavilion here just a while ago. Everyone is putting up their awnings. DS-R just ran down to do his. Dd was here at laundry room when I got here & DS ce a short time ago. He's so sweet. Doing lol so his deife doesn't feel she has to go home.

Think pavilion will be significant with incoming weather! Thundering now. Dark enough that light came on outside laundry room.

Good morning, villagers ~

The heat advisory was supposed to expire earlier this morning, but I just checked the local weather and they have extended it through today. Then tonight a front is supposed to pass through and temps are supposed to drop 10 degrees for a few days. It will be hot again by next weekend, but after we survive today we'll have 3 or 4 days to be significantly more comfortable.

Hopefully we'll be able to run a fan in the bedroom window for a few nights instead of the a/c, to naturally cool the house. Right now the thermostat in this room shows 89F. It only reads up to 90 so I'm not sure how accurate it is at the top of the range.

I'm looking forward to getting back to a decluttering project next week. I'm currently focusing on 2 rooms, neither of which have a fan, so I haven't made any progress for awhile.

I have a bunch of stuff ready to burn in the chiminea outside. We haven't had rain in so long that I'm afraid to light a fire. (High humidity but still a drought, weird. ) The only good thing about the drought is that we have significantly fewer mosquitoes.

Must catch up on desk work this morning. Maybe a load or 2 of laundry. Ever-present dishes. Sort through a box of sewing patterns. Off I go ...

Can't believe I was cold this morning when I got up and had to take a hot shower to warm up. The difference between yesterday and today is unbelievable.

As soon as the water heater recovers from my shower, DH will take his and then I will get the laundry ready to go do. I will only have a small load - including the towels so it shouldn't take long.

I am waiting to hear from my sister, but not sure she will even call. Not sure what is going on. She and BIL are of a different generation and don't ask questions of Dr. I can't do that - I have to know all the ins and outs and whys and wherefores. It is like 20 questions getting any info out of her. And most of the time she doesn't know the answers.

I am eager to get on the road again. Also eager to be with RVing friends who don't think our lifestyle is weird and unnatural.

Best wash up a few dishes and get the laundry ready. TTFN

bittersweet--Sounds like our kids are getting married on the same day! That will also be mine and DH's 33 wedding anniversary. DS had no idea of that when they chose the date. The place where wedding will be had a cancellation and so they took it!

Booksaver--We have our firepit loaded with stuff too. No drought here, but too hot to burn! Your "Friends of the Library" sounds like a good group. We had that back in NE. We were still newcomers there, too, after almost 12 years!
