It is easier to smile today because the wind came up last night and we were awake enough when the first few puffs were felt in the bedroom to go downstairs and open up the whole house. So we slept well (I had to burrow under dh's duvet so he was happy because I snuggled with him all night) and the house is lovely and fresh after being shut up for 2+ weeks.

First load of laundry is on the line, the second will be hung up when we get home from church.

No exercising (no time) and my weight is up from the trip. Sigh...

Dh has practiced all the music for today's service. So my voice is warmed up.

Now it is time for me to eat breakfast quickly and then dry and style my hair.

I am slow, slow, slow this morning. Decided against going to church . I just felt drained this morning. Last night was cooler and I was actually chilly coming home from b'day gathering. I slept quite well for a change but just felt puny this morning. Texted dd and told her I'd be ready to go with her to take gd13 to camp whenever they're ready.

DDIL walked around the pond with friends last night hoping to get something started. She's not really in a hurry, but I'm sure will be glad not to be pregnant any more. DS-A suggested to her a couple of weeks ago that if she still wanted to try for a girl>>>>>>>>>>>>> She told him, "If you really want to kill me......." All joking aside she has been one real trooper through these last couple of years. She did say last night that she could feel/see the baby moving down yesterday. He's getting ready -little does he know he doesn't really have to. I said something about how many hours were left last night -and she said that's a good idea -start thinking about only so many hours left at this point.

I'm finally s2s, bed made, meds taken, breakfast eaten. My mind's on Indiana and Harriet this morning. Hope both are doing well.

I seem to remember something that used to be said on board like: "Smile, your body will wonder what your face is up to." Do I have that right? I do know that when you smile, even to yourself, that it helps your whole attitude.

Have to think about getting dh packed to go to South Bend, IN with DS-R & dgs7 tomorrow and Tuesday. Wednesday will be a lost day I'm sure and they're leaving in the morning on Thursday. They're going with another guy and his son -both carts will be in his trailer. They decided to hotel it this trip rather than take the 5th wheel.

Up and working hard here - dh is loading up my car to take some things over to new house and then we will go to Lowes for the new washer/dryer. Before we can leave, someone is to come pick up dh's Schwinn Air-Dyne antique, which I thought he would never let go.

I've done part of a.m. routine but the house isn't going to get much better, LOL.

I have watering the lawn in back it cooled off to 60* last night, it was a muggy 101* then
T-storms rolled through our area with 15 drops of rain. I have more twigs to pick up in the front yard I see that I've missed some.

Yesterday my on the exercise was in the stationary bike.

I got caught up in a kntting project trying to knit up one of those floppy stocking caps that drape to the nape of ones neck. Did my journaling with some sketches of projects I've thought of next. Saw a fun apron theme show "Sewing with Nancy" on PBS yesterday! Don't usually watch that one but just happened to catch it channel surfing.

All but one of the squash plants seem to be doing great and are in bloom now. I've watered some today and have tomatoes ripening again now. They are determinate kind that stops growing when fruit begins to ripen learned about that from a gardening show. Gardening is not so much fun when temps. are up.

We watched some of h's westerns on DVD have one more for this afternoon. I enjoy the chickens and seeing shawls and aprons! Temps will be up around triple digits this week here akc! Not looking forward to that glad a/c is working and that we have a basement to retreat to. Set a/c at 78* then freeze in the basement w/ h. to watch a movie on DVD LOL! I turn it up to 80* when he's not home. Thinking I need to load dishes in the dish washer and finish folding laundry got it washed and dry yesterday while we were down stairs that was great timing.

Not sure about church today one time I went to a diff. place a/c was out and it was hot like this and I got ill after wards from the heat stopped going to that one this was a few years back. =(

Enjoyed take out deli chicken for dinner I made a salad and cooked corn on the cob to go with it and diet root beer floats yummy special meal for our ann. a bit late but enjoyed it none the less.

Forgot to mention that Fri. nite dgds showed up to give us a hug when we were at our fav. taco stand for date nite before groc. shopping got to see dson & his wife as well had a great chat; it was quick as girls had to head to youth group. But a nice surprise the dgds set up tentative plans for coming over mid week I told 'em when the other grands would be here.

Back from my walk today did it early done before 9:30 but not early enough need to remember to do that before any thing else this week! 106* today's forecast hi. temp. / 60 was the low here I think but they are saying 72* was the low. H. is watering the front now that he's up.

Thought this a.m. I might be able to start the thread, but that lasted about a minute before interruptions.

Got dd13 to church but I had to quickly get back home for my ddad, as HRH is sick with a bad headache today and felt he could hardly get out of bed. She says the minister, who has met her friend, prayed for her friend's sister. She asked that request herself and explained briefly, so I'm proud of her, both for thinking of others in that way and for having a little self-confidence to speak up when she's on her own.

Oh, Dee, thank you for thinking about me! You have a safe drive, and feel better, too. Hope dgd has a good time at camp.

Indiana is so on my mind. I had 10 minutes to "sun" right at the door this morning at 9:45 between outdoor chores, and before ~~~OPPRESSIVE HEAT~~~, and thought to myself how much I'd like her to get out in the 9:45 sun for just 10 minutes, hopefully with Jake as a visitor.

Nancy, I only think it's a western if at some point there are chickens and aprons. Otherwise, it's not true to life, I don't care how many shots they fire! Well, maybe Rawhide. But I think even Wishbone wore an apron.

I've been up for a couple of hours, and have even gotten some things done around here! Critters are all dealt with, dishes are washed, and trash has been taken out. I need to get dressed shortly to head out. First stop will be DD's to drop off a couple of things (if she's home), then to work to pick up my phone charger that I left there on Friday (and also forgot about yesterday), then waaaayyyy across the city to drop off some baby stuff with a friend who has a friend who very recently had a baby girl, and has almost nothing for her. After that, it's off to Mum's for a couple of hours of weeding in the shade. Even though our temps aren't as hot as some of y'all are dealing with, it's still too hot to stay out in the sun for long!

Later this afternoon, I need to get a couple of loads of laundry done, some more work in the back yard, and hopefully, some sewing.

Hello from Minnesota.

We had a great trip here. Every thing packed up and dumped and on the road by 8:15. Checked in, parked and unpacked by 11:15.

Roads were good except for the last 10 miles - then it was concrete with expansion joints so we went tha thump tha thump for that last 10 miles.

Now we are waiting for the rest of the group to get here.

I was sorry to hear BookSaver and Emptynester weren't going to get to hang out together.

bittersweet and elly, at what hour on Saturday are the weddings? I think it's a nice date for an anniversary, the 14th. That's our date (different month) , too. HRH says it's an easy-to-remember one because February 14 is already associated with a romantic holiday, so the 14th easily transposes if you just remember the anniversary month.

That reminds me of the Keeping Up Appearances episode in which Richard goes to lots of trouble to keep Hyacinth from thinking he's forgotten their anniversary. Hyacinth tells Richard she set the new door alarm to their wedding date. Poor Richard comes home late, puts in the month and day, but she had also set for the year, which he suddenly can't remember. So hearing the alarm sends a curler-headed Hyacinth into tears. "Richard Bucket! (bouquet) You forgot our anniversary!"

Well, perhaps the ox was in the ditch today, or perhaps I should just be grateful and not criticize. Dstepson mowed our lawn. Hmmm, tractor-sound across the neighbors' places... ...

While dstepson was upstairs, Tobias got excited or adventurous or something and knocked a spindle of DVDs off HRH's desk. Dd13 and her brother were trying to clean that up without getting cut (!). I can't imagine what HRH will say - yikes. Don't know what, or how important these were.

Morning ya'll...it's still morning in my neck of the village.

Got up feed doggies watched some tennis and then headed to the gym. I've been taking a kickboxing classes off and on for over 7 years now, but haven't been since Jan. Started right in with the class and it was like I had never missed a class. Sweetie said ...why don't you just do your dvd's here at home...so I had to remind him that unlike himself, I like being around people. In fact for the past 20 years I've been daily interfacing with more than 150 humans for 9 .5 months of the year. I mean I love Sweetie's company, but I need a little human contact with people besides the ones I see at the store.

My head hurts...not really bad just like an annoying mosquito that keeps buzzing around your head...and I am finally to the point that I need to do something about it. Sadie TWD has been sick for a while. We took her to the vets a few weeks ago and found out she has Valley Fever...something that most of ya'll have never heard of. Its a fungal spore that is found in the desert dirt. When the dirt is disturbed by either wind, weather or construction it releases the spores. People and animals...specifically dogs inhale it and the fungus enters your lungs and then into the blood stream. Most people and dogs in this valley and any where else there is a desert have been exposed to it without consequence. However there are those people and dogs, which is Sadie ..that these fungal spores make them sick. Sadie didn't not display any of the usual symptoms..which is tiredness and loss of appetite, but she did have a hacking cough. An xray of her chest plus blood work were done. Test came back positive so now she's on anti-fungal meds.

With all this new construction going on in our community, including a house being build right next to me, I am suspicious that I might have it too. Headaches are one of the symptoms. Remember I had that awful rash last year and that turned out to be fungal and that is also one of the symptoms. Anyway I decided to make a dr's appointment this week and have myself tested. Can't hurt and I've got to find something that will help with these headaches.

Yuck, yuck, yuck to ya'll that are fighting the heat.....Take heart...long after your heat wave is over, I will STILL have 2 more months of blazin' heat. We're suppose to be at 113-115 for the next few days....whooo Whee...them's are hot Doggies

All you've ever wanted to know about Valley Fever...BTW, I forgot to mention that many companies have large water tank trucks...they look like a truck with a sprinkler hooked to it... which are suppose to water the area before construction begins. Didn't happen here. Sweetie wants to know if I'm going to the VETS to get my blood work done...he said it would probably be cheaper and I wouldn't have to wait very long to get it done. Gotta love the man for his sense of humor

We have a friend with Valley Fever. She was mis-dignosed for several months and finally had to get very assertive and insist on the test. Now she has to have a blood test, x-rays and a scope (sometimes with biopsy) every 3 months. It is getting better but they estimate a 2 to 3 year recovery time.

Just met 2 couples from the group we will be with. One I know slightly and the other is new. Look forward to seeing some of the people I know, soon.
