Rip-roaring Wednesday

Post by Indiana »

Will your day be:

breathtaking, charged, electric, electrifying, exhilarating, hair-raising, heart-stopping, inspiring, intoxicating, mind-bending, mind-blowing, mind-boggling, rousing, stimulating, stirring, thrilling or rip-roaring?

Mine will be all of the above.

Don't get too exhilirated, Indiana. Glad to see you more chipper!

Kathryn, you got me curious so looked up elevation of Concord -157 meters (514 ft) according to statistics on my computer. That doesn't seem high enough to warrant shortness of breath, but maybe. Maybe you're just tired.

Cowinkie, have a wonderful trip!

LucyLee, it hardly seems possible it's almost time for school. Know dd is beginning to dread the trip back to FL in another week & a half. She picks up gd14 at camp a week from Saturday. She hasn't decided yet whether to come back up here for a few days or to go on to FL. Camp is about 135 miles away -southwest of here.

Have to compose a letter to dh's Dr. this morning -re: disability and a letter for dh's boss so he can return to work in another week or so (probably around Aug. 6th). Then I'm going to take it the 25 miles to the Dr's office rather than wait for snail mail.

DH, DD & DGS7 are all trekking to the Lockport, NY underground boat tour (I'm not going as it's first too cool (50) and lots of steps. then they're going on to Ft. Niagara. DGS loves these kinds of things & so does dh. DD certainly gives him lots of learning opportunities over the summer. DS-A & DDIL are so delighted to have her as his babysitter over most of his vacation. Then I (we) get him for the rest of the summer vacation.

May try to stop by and see new dgs today. Not sure which way I'm going. Really want to make the gym -I've GOT to. :?

Not only did I not plug my Iphone in last night -I couldn't find it this morning. Just looked out on the seat of my golf cart -uh-huh -there it is. Sure hope last night's dampness didn't affect it.

Meant to wish Mr & Mrs Lisa B a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.

Still not sure where we're going for our anniversary. Had planned to 'bop' around lower southwest NYstate tomorrow and Friday. But the forecast (hopefully finally) is rain a good share of tomorrow and thunderstorms. Not sure I want to be just lazily carousing in that kind of weather. I'm almost thinking that maybe we'll go out to dinner tomorrow night and then go away on Friday. We'll see. Going to research more while I'm home alone today.

I do have to do laundry today. Been putting it off too long. May end up doing 2 loads now instead of my usual 1.

I agree that this shouldn't be high enough to cause issues so I'm assuming it might be allergies. When we were walking I kept smelling sawdust which might have been a plant I'm not familiar with.

Rough night sleeping since I ached so badly. And I woke up at 6 despite lights out well after 12.

I was already achy when I got home from volunteering since it was quite physical work. I have finished packing up all the books from the library. All that's left on the shelves are empty binders and stuff to be recycled that's awaiting for bins. Found out that my name had been dropped from a volunteer list by accident so it is up in the air if I'm volunteering at the airport next month. There was an orientation meeting last night which I missed, obviously, but at least I'm now in touch with my supervisor.

The list of stuff dh and I forgot to bring is almost longer than list of stuff we remembered. Vitamins are missing and I suspect I might miss my glucosamine badly so I might be off to a store this morning.

Hope you feel better as the day goes on, Kathryn.

DH, DD & DGS7 are off for their adventure. I'm slowly getting things together to leave. Just printed out letter to dh's Dr. Going to our bank, dr's office, gym, other bank to deposit dh's disability check. He only received 2. Hoping the letter to the Dr. will generate another 1 or 2 before he goes back to work. It's a 'slim' summer indeed.

Have a LOL all ready to go to the laundry room when I get back later today.

They're forecasting 'major' rain for tomorrow as dd calls it. If we don't get this rain it will be the driest July ever. The airport has received .24" but we haven't even had that. Think we've register .02" all month. Yesterday ddil said it poured in Henrietta, about 12 miles from here. DD and I counted 6 drops on the windshield. :? Know there's parts of the country much worse than here though.

Well, I'm off for MY adventure. Errands.

Good Morning!

I am up a little later than normal due to a late night. Music is on and I'm in process of setting up things for today. I stopped when I realized this was a perfect time to move LO's birthday gifts (while he was asleep). The little fella found the gift stash (accidently) yesterday. I had them stashed in a closet that is rarely opened, but wouldn't you know it......he opened it. Everything is still in shopping bags however they are unwrapped so he did see one of the gifts sticking out (baseball & bat) before I could redirected his attention to something else. So, I gave that gift to him as an early birthday gift. Hopefully I can keep the rest hidden until his birthday. I just finished moving everything else to the truck of the car and covered them up.

....sipping cup of coffee while looking through SHE cards....

For ex. yesterday last night I walked at dusk.
I've made coffee that's about all so far today. But I do have a plan. Read on ...
More pruning I pruned one rose bush by the west fence it looks better now.
That inspired me to begin on the very large Oregon grape bush and I had the 3 sides done.
Now for the suckers, plus the plum tree has suckers and the big maple tree out front.
So I'll be working on those today. The utility trailer is filling up.

We have gravel down for the patio expansion, h. got that done yesterday after work.
We move the one sectioin of fence out also. It really looks different a and a lot better now.

I have to look up some paint clothes so we don't splash it on the house. I've kept them some where in a tote here I believe.

Someone left some apricots on our door step last evening!
We are 3/4ths of the way through watching Lonesome Dove and I just figured out one scene I was waiting for is in a diff. movie! LOL! [Broken Trail] Got figure I guess well watch it later.

Back from our non-hike.

Dh had an overseas call so I did my nails and tried to feel better. Took two advil and an allergy pill but still felt lousy. Picked a good looking hiking route .7 miles from us and 2.5 miles long but I wasn't sure if I could manage it so we drove to the parking area at the more interesting looking end of the trail. Couldn't find it. People are helpful but we were being bounced back and forth between two places and finally realized it was the first but we spent 30 minutes and were running out of time so gave up.

Found the recommended car wash and dh learned how to do a self-serve wash. The attendant was really, really, helpful. Dh says that he's building a car wash bay into the house we build when we win the lottery. It is so much nicer than washing it in the driveway. Better water pressure and you aren't in the sun.

From there we picked up groceries so I'm having salad and fruit with one cheese string (and maybe some chips) for my lunch. I'm not hungry but my body is aching for healthy food. Breakfast was not healthy and I'm regretting letting dh talk me into leaving the picnic things at home so I can't have cereal in the room. I was lucky to find they had single plastic forks at the grocery store (they didn't have a very large ready to eat section at all which had been my first plan.)

After I eat it will be time to head off to Burlington, MA for the day's activities. I'm feeling more human now and managed not to wreck my nails while helping dh wash the car. Luckily we had a scrubbie and a rag as well as a towel in the car so we were able to get 2000 miles of bugs off. It has been 4000 miles since the car was last washed but we had enough heavy rain in Nova Scotia that the first 2K of bugs were washed off!

Hello, villagers ~

Elizabeth ~ Hi, welcome home.
Dee ~ I hope you get that much-needed rain.
Nancy ~ That patio project is moving right along.

I have some carryover from yesterday's goals, it was just too hot. I did make it to the truck stop for lunch and stayed long enough for their a/c to make me nice and cool -- and then had to go out to the blazing hot car to come home. :P

Today's forecast is actual temp 103-105F, add humidity and the heat index values according to the tv station "getting very close, if not surpassing, 110." I have the ceiling fan in my office turned to maximum speed. I don't remember ever having to turn it up this fast. Since I am not planning to leave the house today, I'm wearing a skirt and tank top, no makeup.

So I work at the computer long enough to cool down, then go do a chore or 2, then back under the fan. Repeat ad infinitum.

Today's 5x5:
* Finish washing dishes
* Laundry - 1st load of clothes is in the dryer, 2nd load in the washer (ah, dryer is buzzing, must go flip the loads)
* Send the trash and recycling bins to the curb tonight stuffed totally full
* Something related to fun sewing (did not get to this yesterday)
* Try again to find 3-5 books to donate (did not get to this yesterday)

I tried to have the laundry finished before noon, but forgot to turn on the dryer for the first load. Second load includes fabric for making a new purse. It is cotton and will need to be <shudder> ironed before I can cut out the pattern pieces.

Hmmm... rip-roaring? I don't really see that happening... hmmm...
* Good morning, Indiana! :D I wish I had your energy!

Dee, what sort of reports are y'all getting from dgd's camp? How is she managing while she's there?

Yes... oh. my. goodness. Three weeks minus one day till I'm back at school. I'm REALLY not excited about it. Of course, I am NEVER excited about school in August, so that does not mean that I'm ready to retire... just that I'm lazy, I guess.
We are going to be gone for about 5 days of those three weeks, so I know it is going to FLY by.

(((Kathryn))) Hope you feel better soon!

LOL @ LO searching out the gifts! :D (((OKay))) You are all sooo much in my thoughts and prayers these days. May God bless you with wisdom, patience, and strength for all that you are dealing with.

Nancy, WTG w/walking yesterday evening. I did not walk yesterday, and probably will not today. The heat index is over 100 by 10:00 a.m. and stays that way till dark!

Yesterday, of course, after supper, I was busy w/dgs! He IS awake more... and yes, he was pretty fussy last night. After his bottle @ 8:30, he was still fussy, so I got him to take a little more of the bottle, and then I just lay back in the recliner and he finally settled down and went to sleep there on my chest. He slept at least two hours like that, and then took about 4 ounces of a bottle around 11:30.
He let me take a few pictures, but never without the pacifier!

Waving to BookSaver, too!!!
Tomorrow is another day.
