Re: Talented Tuesday
So today we'll all sing together and use our talents!
I need to be out of the house in an hour - need a quick s2s and perhaps walk ddogs around the block if it's not raining too much. I think ds is in the shower now, so I'll give him the benefit of the water pressure for a few moments.

Re: Talented Tuesday
Twin's, I love today's quote! I'm off to volunteering this morning and as this is the meeting that decides if there is a volunteer position for me after January and my role until then, your message is particularly apt. Not to mention I've been seriously considering withdrawing from the choir since I'm not sure I can face 18 more days of this discomfort.
On the bright side this morning, no headache when I woke up so maybe if I keep my system full of advil, I'll make it through the 18 days. I sang a little bit last night, focusing only on breathing not enunciation since that involves more jaw movement. And I focused on the pieces I know the least well.
Dh did up his set list for Thursday and only needs me to sing two pieces with him and is encouraging me not to sing along for the rest. He's the one who was 'hired' (this is volunteered) but I get a free lunch too so feel like I should be singing.
I'm up and at it slowly. Need to light a fire under myself since I should be out of here in 15 minutes and I have wet hair, wet nails, haven't had my cereal and haven't packed snacks (lunch is out today.)
At least dinner is all ready to pop in the oven and the counter top oven is ready to put out on the balcony so there's no heat inside the kitchen.

Re: Talented Tuesday
Thanks, Indiana -I'll go there next.Dee here is a link for 1300 diabetic salad recipes from Taste of Home
Didn't check here last night so had about 2 1/2 pages to cuop. I'm running late this morning (does that count as exercise?)
Absolutely, positively need to do colored laundry today. I'm embarrased to say how long it's been since I did 'coloreds'. Yikes. There's at least 2 loads in there and that is almost all dh's things.
I hear you, Harmony, on the tops. I'm down to a few as well. Keep looking but don't seem to find anything that catches my fancy. Hopefully when I get back to FL I'll find a few. Time to get rid of some. Now dh's t-shirts definitely need weeding out. Dfriend of his gave him 2 of the bright green/yellow? ones the other day with the 811 logo (call before you dig). He'll use those around here to work in. That means I should be able to get rid of some of his older ones. He plans to bring dh some more. So funny because dh is the only one here who doesn't have 'staff' shirts. Everyone else who works here does.
DD is winding down and trying to get ready to leave in a week. She's pretty sad about that, knowing she won't see dniece and dnephews for nearly a year. The new baby being the hardest of those. I got to hold him for quite a long while last night and the 'warm fuzzies' from that lasted a long time. What a joy. He fell asleep on Grandma's shoulder and I finally had to leave to pick up dh. That's the most I've held him. It's probably been about 5 minutes total up to then. He's now the same weight as ds-A was when he was born. (9lbs. 5oz).

Re: Talented Tuesday
Talent. I could certainly use a bucket load of talent today. I'm running out of options with LO's backhoe birthday cake endeavor. The party is on Saturday and I still don't have a plan put together. Yesterday I received 2 new names of people who possibly could/would make the cake. With hope I called them, but didn't have any success. So now it is back to the last-ditch-effort-idea for DGS15 and I to make it. I have 3 possible ideas for the cake design, so I am thinking we could make all three with hopes that one of them will look enough like a backhoe to not need to tell people what it is
Hummmm......maybe I can interest DGS17 in helping too. Then we could each make one of the backhoe cake designs. it could be fun regardless of how they turned out.
thinking outloud.....backhoe cake design shopping list....
** pound cakes.....4? 5 of them?
** rice crispy treats
** oreo cookies - to use as wheels and "dirt"
** licorice ...black...wonder if they make yellow too?
** little debbie fudge rounds (wheels)
** chocolate dounts (wheels)
** frosting
** yellow, black, green food colors
I've arraigned to use DParents kitchen/dining room table Friday morning to assemble the cakes. Said with determination but limited confidence.... We will be TALENTED cake designers by Friday afternoon.

I have talent and can use it today. Singing talent tho is non-existent I'm tone deaf.
We had a hard storm with hail come through early this morning.
64% of the US has drought. That is a huge area.

Re: Talented Tuesday
I was just thinking of talents! Using mine for puppet making this week, I signed up to help out at the church office. H. took offering and we helped count it a new experience they have to have more than one person doing that. The p/c was down so had to log it w/ pen & paper the old fashioned way.
I heard an interesting program on Charlie Rose yesterday about some guy that made Netscape & is on the board of FB, & others maybe Google any way learned something when they talked about phones = a p/c in your pocket.
I've been wondering how does one do a report for school on a smart phone?
Hubby said he got his first $ tip after a pour so that was great so that customer was happy with his work always a great feeling!
I've picked up apples, trash is at the curb, & did watering in the back yard
60*-95* Today's temps.
I'm on line a bit for today checking yea!

Re: Talented Tuesday
I'm wishing everybody a warm gentle steady long rain today. The dryness is awful all across america. We are about 9" down.
Nancy, I'm glad to read your DH's job seems to be working out.
Doing a big desk project. This one gets done every quarter, and I have 30 days after quarter ends to complete and send. And yes, this is the very last day, so I must get it finished and mailed. Auditor last year told me they don't do anything with these things unless there is a big huge change from usual numbers.
LOL twirling. Colored load. I haven't done mine in a long while either, Dee. I even debated doing it in 2 batches since there were so many...but they fit and aren't all that dirty so I did them all at once. Folded 1 LOL from yesterday. This load makes me all caught up again.
Alright, back to my desk.

Re: Talented Tuesday
Off to the ortho Dr. in about an hour. Sure hope I can get some relief from the pain. It looks stupid but I have been riding the 1 block from DD's to the MH on the tailgate of the pickup. Much less pain than trying to get my leg in the front seat.
From all the food we've been eating (DD and DSIL are both good cooks) we need to get out and walk. But can't do that until I get a bit of pain relief.
Puppies are still growing. After they eat they lay there like fat sausages.
They are getting a lot more vocal and yip and growl now.

Re: Talented Tuesday
I'm afraid my colored LOL will take at least 2 loads, Harmony. Didn't get to it this morning. DH called and asked if I'd eaten -at first said yes, then remembered, NO, I hadn't. So went to a different restaurant for breakfast. Thought about asking dd but figured dgs7 was still asleep. Just received a text from her with a picture of him riding bicycle. Don't think he'd been doing that before.
Just finished installing a program that I hope will help me rid this computer of some programs. Certainly hope so. For instance Ba by lon search engine appeared on here -have no idea how. I thought I had uninstalled it but it still shows up first when I go to IE. Couldn't find a way to get rid of it, so hope this works.
