Re: WINDFALL WEDNESDAY
Happy to read Sadie's nice report.
I hope OKay has no fire today.
No windfall here, except more jobs than usual, all little ones so a lot of back and forth and running around with trucks, tools, equipment. Got a contract signed last evening...sent 2 statements today, one a past-due notice
. I must make it to the bank soon with checks I have.
Happy birthday call made to DD2.
6:00 is a Memorial Service at church. No luncheon to prepare this time, but this man was a dear friend who died unexpectedly on the operating table last week. We are very shocked and surprised about all that. I spent a couple days last week in a dark funk over it. Got a call today about a man who sits in our row at church who is expected to pass away momentarily. I'd spoken to his wife Sunday, and she told me he was in the hospital and they didn't know what was wrong with him. I guess they found out.
I really like these people, so lively and upbeat despite many health problems and being in their 80's. It is hard, counting him there are 4 people I know pretty closely who have passed on recently.
Sorry to be so morose this morning.

Re: WINDFALL WEDNESDAY
Oh Harmony, sorry your congregation has so many losses right now. They do seem to run in cycles, don't they?
I've been out to meet the guy who is doing work at the old house - turns out he got a worker started and then left - I need to check in with him later as I didn't get to talk to him.
I gassed up the car and went by Tar-jay - got extra sheets for ds' twin beds - we've been short all summer for some reason. Also got new towels for our bathroom and some baskets to audition for the "nook" where we need shelves built. (Rats - the basket will work nicely in the nook but I can't find them online to order more. I suspect a trip to both local Tar-jays is in my future.)
Need to run another round of errands soon:
grocery
liquor store for wine
drugstore
U haul to drop off boxes for reuse
what else?
No response from temple secretary re message from yesterday.

Re: WINDFALL WEDNESDAY
Sigh, no news from OKay.
No progress here. The set list really takes over an hour so that burned up another hour (and brought back the headache, so now we know it is the jaw and not my TOM that is the cause of the headache.) I just took my next dose of advil. Given how long the set list is, without including patter, we've taken 3 songs out, including one that should have been mine but I'd have to learn. I'm still developing harmonies for a couple of other pieces. Most of the music is quite pretty but a couple tear me up (You are my Sunshine being one, but a Kristofferson tune as well, Here Comes a Rainbow Again.)
Realized we missed a phone message this morning while we were working out so I phoned back and left a message.
Next up is lunch. Something healthy since dinner will be junk.

Re: WINDFALL WEDNESDAY
I tried to post last night, but it was late and let myself be distracted. We had a brief rain last evening with thunder grumbling in the distance, the first rain in almost a week. We could use some more.
Happy Anniversary to MT's Dd1 & dh.
Happy Birthday to Harmony's dd2.
OKay, I hope the threat of fire is gone.
((Harmony)). Sorry to hear of this newest loss. Hope this is the last for a long time. So sad for his wife.
MT, hope your knee continues to feel better. The puppies are so cute.
Nice to hear from Sadie. Glad you and dfamily are having a good time.
Helia, you're really busy even when you are relaxing, aren't you?!
Nancy, I'm glad your B.S. was a good number today.
Thinking of Indiana now, enjoying her lunch with dniece and children!
I woke up early this morning; well 7 am may not be early for most of you, but it is for me! Got my breakfast and morning chores done quickly. Now working on cutting material for next sewing project. That had got put on hold due to our trip, now I can concentrate on it fully.
Waving hello to everyone! ♥

Re: WINDFALL WEDNESDAY
Quick check in before lunch. My laptop is not charging properly. Cords get plugged in & begin charging it, but stop after a while. It has been getting worse over time so I need to bring it in to be fixed. I'm just not looking forward to being without a computer for several days or a week. The one positive thing about it is that I'll spend more time with my cardfile
Saw a beautiful monarch butterfly on a flower & ran for the camera. Focused in on the perfect shot and --dead battery. By the time I replaced it with a spare charged one it was gone. Refilled the hummingbird feeder. We had a little greenie stop by several times in June but haven't seen him/her for a few weeks. Flowers are thriving with all the rain & cooler, overcast days we've been having.
How I would love to join you in puppy duty today, MT! I watched some of the videos you linked here & they are so adorable. My ddog is a lab & she was so much fun when she was little. Except for the housebreaking part
.
So happy to see Sadie checking in with such a wonderful travel report! Will pray for your safe return.
Stopped & said a prayer for OKay & family after reading your posts here that there may be fire in her area.
(((Hugs))) for those that need them today.
Good evening to Lynlee. I was thinking of you when I was watering my flowers this AM, about how now that it is August 1st summer will begin to wind down here, so spring is on its way for you.
A friend sent me this cute clip. It starts to get really good after about 30 seconds. If you like happy babies, this will make you smile

Re: WINDFALL WEDNESDAY
~~~~waving Hello to all~~~~~
Fire is contained and all is well in my corner of the world.
This morning it took me 2 trips to enroll LO into public school. It has been a ****few*** years
since I have done this and I had forgotten what paperwork is needed. I took his immunization records and guardianship papers, but had to run back home to get his birth certificate and SSN card. Filled out 1/2 dozen papers to cover a variety of topics...... What school parties do I want to help with? Can he go on field trips? Do we allow school officials to administer corporate punishment if needed? etc etc . We also met school superintendent, had a meeting with elementary principal and the secretary about need for security around LO. We couldn't have been more pleased with their response and received good vibes from everyone.
I'm trying to wrap my mind around having 7 hours alone every school day.
I am seriously dreading it ......but there is a part of me that remembers a time far-far ago when I had quiet and focus to accomplish projects. Seven hours x 5 days a week. OH WOW!
I received a job offer this morning to return to the field of work I retired from. I have no intention of going back to work full time in that high stress environment.....but it is weird to think that 35 hours a week just became available..
Re: WINDFALL WEDNESDAY
LO is turning FIVE, Okay? For some reason I've had him coming up on four. Time does fly.Glad you're ok, just busy, busy, busy. Whew!
DH is out vacuuming the car -I'm inside feeling guilty. But at least I'm not sitting in AC -could stand to turn it on however. I'm perspiring.
Was going to do dishes but had to turn the H20 back on to heat a little longer. I've waited too long since this morning. Timer just dinged so hopefully it's ready now.
My humming bird feeder is almost empty too. Tonight will be a good time to fill it so the feed can warm up from the fridge.
Re: WINDFALL WEDNESDAY
Hmm.... not so relaxing today after all. I drove around town with dd16 for about 45 minutes - and we got into a good argument after she nearly ran over a cyclist downtown, who was unhappily (and rightfully so!) yelling at us. . . .
I do wish other drivers were more understanding about student drivers, however. I don't know how many drivers were irritated at us today; we have some impatient drivers here - and we were driving around during lunch hour. I should have taken out our "student driver" signs and plastered them on the car; I'm not sure where they are. I felt like I needed a glass of wine or a massage or something after driving so long with her behind the wheel. . . . I just sent dh to pick her up from her mentor meeting.
I've been going through a pile of paperwork this afternoon. Lots of filing to do now. . . . I should stay on top of this better. I found a credit card bill due today - a small amount, thank goodness! - that I didn't even know we had; it belongs to dh. He probably pulled the wrong one out at some point. I don't know why he even has it; we keep the c.c.s at a minimum and pay in full each month; I don't like paying interest at all. Not a big deal, except I don't think we're registered online with this one to pay it immediately. . .. Will sort out after dh returns.
I also started the breadmaker for dinner tonight, just white bread b/c I had forgotten how long it takes, and I was running out of time.
I can't believe LO is old enough to go to school, OK! That went fast!
OK, you've reminded me that I'm toying with the idea of working again; I need something to fill my time. I think I've already shared here. . . Moms group won't fill it all, and I don't want to cocoon myself in church activities as I have in the past. I need to dust off the resume (I have a friend who used to work in HR for a big company in Chicago who is willing to help me update it - dh is too) and send it out - and see what happens. I'd be looking for something very part time; kids, church, friends, moms group, etc. still will need some attention.
Next:
-filing, dealing w/ paperwork
-change sheets on bed
-work on washing towels
-hopefully have kind words with dd16. . . .
Glad fire is contained and all is well OKay. Yes, you will have a wonderful block of time opening up! I always said that it's like New Year's when the kids start back to school - chance to rethink and begin again!
So glad to hear from Sadie on her trip!
Back from errand runs, it feels good to have the boxes out of my car. Someone drove up to get boxes just as I started to unload, so they went directly into her car.
Helia, dd says I still grip the handle on my side of the car when she is driving!
