Dee, I hope dd figures this out. I know she was really, really tired and achy last night and that probably had something to do with it, too. She said she and co-counselor had to clean cabin yesterday and she was sore and tired from that. Small discussion with Z in the car yesterday - he said he's trying to figure out where home is. He's been away at school the last two years and at camp the last two summers, and his childhood home sold the day we bought our house and his parents divorced with separate houses.Home is where the people you love and the things that surround them reside.

Re: FORE! It's Friday!
(Twins and DD). I get attached to the place where I live. I remember crying as we left our old house the last time. I was more upset that I was leaving it in a rush of work, with stuff left undone, sweeping and cleaning needing done there, and it just felt so unfinished. I do not think about it very much any more, especially now that it is home to someone else.
I am procrastinating. I should be working. My hands are so sore I don't want to do the things I need to. Had to drive out and bring DH and helper back so they could take other 2 cars out to jobsite. DH is trying to get someone with a machine over there so he won't have so much to dig. He used to always do this stuff himself. He said he wasn't feeling "friskie" enough to do it himself. ....sigh... I don't like this road we're going down.
I got sheets hung up. Kitchen cleaned up. Some bills paid. The to-do list is so much longer.

Re: FORE! It's Friday!
Back from buying a SIM card for the USB modem ds gave me. Now I have internet (at an exorbitant cost) anywhere I can get cell service. So that doesn't necessarily mean at home because the cell service here is dodgy. But when we are at General Council we'll have it and when I go to Nova Scotia to visit my Uncle, I can now be connected if I'm at his house. Plus hotels where it costs a fortune (although we usually stay at hotels that include internet.)
Of course, this only works in Canada, to use this in the US we'd have to buy another modem, but it is a start.

Dee: Let's see if this works:
I saved instead of submitting.
Went to User Control Panel
Selected Manage Drafts under the Options (which in my view is on the left hand side of the page.)
That came up with a list of saved drafts and I clicked on the Load Draft option and it sent me back to this forum, in the posting area, so I can edit and then submit my post. There is a little notice on the page saying

Re: FORE! It's Friday!
HELLO, HELLO!!!
Good gracious, it is hard to cuop after almost 4 days!
We had a very nice trip -- you know, just a short get-away, but still... so nice to sleep in a bed that you know you will return to all fresh & fluffy, through no effort on your own part... and nice to see different things, even if it is mostly city streets and a ballfield... and just nice to be away from day-to-day busy-ness of life. Braves won 2 out of the 3 games that we saw... I finished reading my novel... saw the movie Beasts of the Southern Wild (sad, but pretty good)... ate at The Varsity (twice) and Chick-Fil-A (at the game, no big rush/crowd at that point). Ate waaay too much junk in general, I'm sure. I did not even consider getting on the scales this morning.
Kinda bummed to think I have only one more week before I have to sit in those "boring school meetings" -- YES, I'm trying to cuop, Cowinkie!!! But... OTOH... I will have it in the back of mind that this is the LAST time I'm going to do this, right? Which is STILL a somewhat scary thought. But kinda scary, too, to think I might even consider going BACK after dniece graduates! I just have to keep repeating to myself the words of dfriend: I have spent 30 years dedicating myself to the young people of this community... now it is time to dedicate myself to young dgs and help out so ddil can go back to school for herself!
I'm so sorry... I keep wandering back into that vein of talk everytime school subject comes up.
I also saw Kathryn's comments re: the trend to publicize EVERYTHING today, in re: to dd's pregnancy journey. So true. I don't consider posts in this site "public" although I guess they are... but still, we are such an apparently small group, it seems "safer." I don't really want to go "on record" publically yet re: upcoming retirement... but if I couldn't talk about it with y'all, I'd go crazy. Of course, I talk about it often IRL, too, but I haven't put anything in writing yet!
Can't wait to see dgs later today!
Need to s2s and start the day. Hmmm... since it's almost 1:30 p.m.... yeah... starting the day would be a great idea!

Now when I click on Manage Drafts, it says I have no drafts saved, so it cleaned up the one I edited and posted.
I just ordered $100 of cell phone time for my phone. Will do the same for dh when he gets inside. A second of surfing found a discount coupon that saved me $3. Every penny counts. This should last me another 11 months. I can't quite manage to go a year on $100 but, still, under $10/month for a cell phone seems like a deal to me. That's just texting (about 4 a month) and phone calls (about 6 a month.) We really just use a cell phone when we need it, not as an extension of our hands and ears. I keep mine off almost all the time. Dh uses his less than me, but he has a smart phone so can email people or use Skype when he's out if he is somewhere with wifi. If I don't have my computer with me when out, I have to call someone with a browser and ask them to look things up for me, so that uses more minutes. That happens so seldom, I can't see the need for a smart phone but know I'll get one eventually. It just won't have a data plan on it.
Lucylee Welcome home! I thought about how we post so much here but there's a huge difference between what we do and what dd is doing. First, we post under pseudonyms so a search on our IRL names will not pull up everything that we post here. Second, this sight doesn't come up in google searches. So, as much as I post here, if you google Kathryn-In-Canada, this place doesn't show up. Of the hits that really are me (about 5% of them) only one, on page 2, even comes close to linking here, it is my SHE photobucket account. Even making the search criteria my name + SHE, you still don't find this place. Of the other hits that are me, only 1 site is still active, the rest return errors because the pages no longer exist (some were from 6 years ago.)

I'm on a roll. Bought more airtime for dh and then furnace filters. They are half price if I order them from the US and have them mailed, even though mailing adds 50% to the price. If I'm ordering more, I'll have them mailed to the UPS store in upstate NY and bring them across myself.
Twins I was just thinking about napping myself.

Re: FORE! It's Friday!
H. was called in to work mid-morning after worrying out loud about his lack of hours, I just went on a walk it was good to clear my head. Time for me to move the water again. Kitchen is looking better. Lunch is done now. I'm trying to get back on track with my weekly stuff this afternoon.
So that is on my mind thinking where I can find supplies for that, some have used bathrobes, old sheets, even curtains for their's in the past.
Fire! Have you seen the news? There is a bad one in Okalhoma.
Here locally there is one ten miles up river from us I can see the smoke thought it was out. But it has grown to 1,000 acres they have put up an announcement on the local t.v. web. page about it and activated what ever needed to be activated to fight it. Guess we will not be going up river to fish & pick berries this weekend after all.

Re: FORE! It's Friday!
15 minutes in the MBR made a difference! I also spent some time outside - dneighbor had his dogs out and Moses was out playing in our yard. This morning I showed a workman's son who was here how Moses likes to fetch a tennis ball, and he came over to play with Moses for awhile. Moses is worn out and the dneighbor's dogs had an opportunity to see Moe w/o barking at him or charging the fence. Macs went out for a minute but he hustled back in once he found Moses rawhide for chewing.
Need to s2s and shave legs next and get ready.
