Massive Monday

Post by OKay »

The path to success is to take massive, determined action.

It's MONDAY! I'm full of energy and ready to take on the day!

I've been a tad bit busy the last several days and it shows everywhere I look. The house is cluttered. Papers are stacked. Meals are not prepared or planned.

However, Thanks to P&P and mentoring from SHE's, I have a plan that is proven to get things back into order. Now to work that plan with massive determined action.

OKay, I wish I could join you but today will be a quiet one for me.

Slept just fine but woke up and have the same unsettled tummy and general malaise.

I'll focus on 15 minutes out of every hour devoted to chores and rest for the remainder of each hour.

I can't believe I am cold this morning and wishing for a hot shower to warm up. It is 57 right now after an overnight low of 50.

Hoping KIC is feeling better after her day of rest. Sounds practical, Kathryn, to rest when not feeling well.

Glad OKay's day went well yesterday and hoping for many more meetings like that.

Sitting here watching the Cardinal flit thru the sun dappled woods in front of the RV. Last night I watched fireflies do the same thing. I am going to miss our little haven of peacefulness when we leave tomorrow.

Today's goals: Laundry - do up bit of dirty clothes and bedding.
Trailer ooze: Put things away for travel.
Puppies: Help DD feed them and wash bedding towels.
Exercise: Read and do exercises for knee as recommended by ortho Dr.

Tomorrow's travel will be short (105 miles) and on familiar roads. We will stop in Elkhart at a favorite campground so we can dump our tanks before heading for our church camp for a few weeks of volunteer work.

Ok, I'll try this again. I already lost one post because I had the keyboard too far from me & lost a post. I'm actually helping dh do septic tank readings this morning, via walkie-talkies. I'm sitting in our PM (park model) and posting reads he calls to me. I hadn't heard from him in several minutes & finally called him. (Reminded him he needs to tell me when he's 'breaking' and stopping to do something else). I sat waiting for a while & then started puttering, never far from the radio. He was coming from the 'upper' sites down to our drive & had to stop to fix a shower.

DH went back to work today. Hopefully dcampowner/boss has dh's 'permission slip' from the Dr. by now. Will be waiting to see if dh gets the rest of his disability checks from insurance company. Certainly hoping so.

DH had an ambulance call (here at the campgrounds) at midnight. It was for a very dfriend on the other side -he actually was with us all day yesterday. He passed out and fell, breaking 2 vertabraes. Having surgery tomorrow. Praying for him and his dwife (she just lost her Mom about 4 weeks ago).

DD brought dinner last night so we had a turkey & biscuits with vegetables. Not that we needed it after having a buffet earlier

For some reason this posted in Friday's so will go back and delete that now. :?

Good morning! I really need to get back on track. Massive, determined action. .. . Yep, sounds like what I need! The house is in decent shape after we prepped for small group Saturday, but I am WAY behind with laundry.

PODA:
10:30 - 12 I need to take and pick up dd14 from a tea party for a friend leaving on sabbatical to England.
Groc. store
Late afternoon - bring a meal to a friend of a friend fr. moms group who just had a new baby
LAUNDRY!

SKIPPABLE MUSINGS: I'm feeling a little disgruntled over comments my dmom (yes, still dear. . .) made on the phone to me yesterday about my kids, whom she doesn't even know very well - and me too, in the process. I thought grandparents enjoyed hearing of their grandchildren's successes, but I get the sense that when my kids do well, that is offensive to her. I wasn't telling her anything about them at the time, she just made a general comment. . . Help! I don't understand. . . Do any of you grandmothers relate to that at all? Maybe I need to communicate things differently? There are some things I've never told her - and can't tell her now, like the girls winning the story writing contests this spring. Anyhow, I can't remember her ever making a positive comment about my kids; she only initiates conversations re: my kids if she has negative feedback. Neg. feedback is great, if there is a larger context of a good relationship where there is also positive feedback, which is not the case here. And I have really nice kids! --I know, I know - that statement is suspect coming from a mom. I could readily direct people to friends who know our family well to get their opinion. No one knows better than me that my kids are certainly far from perfect, but they are fundamentally respectful kids who desire to do what is right. Anyhow, dmom is not a positive sort of person in general. I think time will ease my kerfuffled (is that a word?) feelings, and I need to reassess what/how I share with her re: my kids - and what/how I talk with her in general. I knew that -- I have just been careless lately. Ergh. I wonder if being adopted is a factor?? We are such very different people.

Thanks for listening! I'm off to finish the a.m. routine.

{{{Helia}}} how are your nieces nephews doing if you have any? I remember comments made about cousins being bragged about in a holiday letter; when I was struggling in school it was a difficult subject my folks did not have much to write I guess. Maybe they were feeling guilty for not doing a holiday letter! LOL! My in laws were of a diff. faith and did not appreciate my approach to child rearing but it was their issues with empty nest that was the problem not really what I was doing; I realized years later after I got counseling!

My dsis thinks I should drop every thing and run across the country b/c mom's having an 80th b/d I can tell you that's not going to happen for any number of reasons one if is that I did not go to my dad's even much closer.

Sigh okay enough about those "massive" Monday issues!
I'm back from my walk coffee has been made and I've picked up the apples.
Dkids are home so I did not need to go over and do pet chores I realized after I got there so I just left.

101*-63* today's temp. range.
I've barely watched any of the Olympics this year usually I'm watching a lot of it. Guess not having my loom warped up might be a factor.

I'm definitely hearing, Helia. DH's mom (now deceased) was always, always very negative where our dks were concerned. No matter their accomplishment she would dwell on the negative. We realized over the years that with her, it was a matter of making the other person look bad so she looked good. Our dks will often comment that 'grandma' never gave a compliment except backwards ones. For instance, yes you have a pretty face if you'd only lose weight" or "that isn't the skirt for you." (after we had just finished telling her how nice she looked. Once when dShelley & dfriend were visiting her in FL dfriend asked, "Doesn't she look great?" Mom's response was "She looks better". She used to call dh at work at the Big Yellow Box" and he would finally say he had to go because someone had come into his office. (Before he let her have it. ) It never changed. So I empathize with you. So sadly we never were able to share some of the good things with her.

We struggle with many of the same issues with gd14. Lots of personality traits are much the same. Notice dd rarely telling of accomplishments, etc of other dgks -she is so jealous!! She absolutely needs to be the center of attention. And she'll pull all sorts of antics to be just that -good or bad!

Still doing readings with dh, but evidently we're on 'hold' again. I have managed to get my coffee table (top & bottom) cleaned off during all this. Trying very hard to get 10,000 steps in (again). I really need to do something different to get this weight off. It just keeps creeping this summer.

LOL @ "massive MOnday issues!"

Thanks, Nancy. I find braggy letters (or anything else, really) rather distasteful too. We've gotten our share of those holiday letters. There is one other grandkid in the family, dbrother's dd14, and she is mentally disabled. I don't know how much that plays into her responses to my kids; dbro. and dniece live in the same town as my parents. Sometimes, I feel like I really need to share something about my kids, and I only share kid successes with one friend here, whose kids are older - and sometimes my parents. I've shared a little here too, b/c I think it is safe, and b/c others seem to find it a safe place too. My options for sharing are pretty limited; but maybe I shouldn't share at all? I certainly thought my parents would be safe!

((Dee)) Well, that is comforting to know I'm not the only one who deals with this. Sad to hear it never changed, though. Do you think your dmil ever realized what she was doing? Was she like that w/ the other grandkids? Or, maybe those questions are not appropriate for here. . . .just ignore then. Yes, I have some thoughts as to what might be going on inside of her, but I can't say for sure. I just need to continue to figure out how to best love her. And I know I have my faults and issues too, so I need to ponder how those are butting up against hers. . . The messiness of relationships. I guess that keeps me on my knees. So glad there is grace - I just need more of it! :) Hope dh is feeling better -- wasn't he feeling ill? Or was that a long time ago?

Dd14 has been deposited at friend's house. dw is unloaded. Off to do more.
