No hard decisions were necessary with DCat18. When I got home to take her to the vet, she had already died peacefully in her sleep. She only had one bad day and two days of less activity than normal. She lived longer than the vet expected of a cat with hyperthyroid, probably because she was very cooperative about her pills. I went ahead with the vet visit because I knew they handled cremation. Afterwards, I felt the need for retail therapy, so I went for a book binge, but at the library where it doesn't cost!

I did get the resume to my friend and asked her to send me suggestions on it. I can redo it and send another iteration. I need some BGS about my job search.

Tonight I have run a load of laundry, still need to put it and one of its compatriots away. I have fixed lunches for me and DD10 for tomorrow. I finally got all the stuffed animals put away in DD's room, but I think she and her friend are busy taking them out again. I have done a little kitchen clean up, but not much.

See you tomorrow!

What a day today!

Wonderful words of wisdom for Helia! There's not really anything I can add. Three of my grandparents were gone by the time I was born. I only remember my maternal grandfather and although he was in his 70s when he lived with us he seemed very much older. Neither my family nor dh's family was negative in talking to us or with our children, always had words of praise and encouragement. My dmil had 18 grandchildren, so had plenty of times to express positive thoughts about all. I know you are very proud of the wonderful young people your dchildren are becoming.

((Elizabeth)), so sorry to hear about your dkitty 18. It is so easy to get attached to our dpets and so easy to grieve for their loss.

Healing thoughts for those with health issues: Mr. Dee, Kathryn, OKay's Dbro, Indiana and others.

Sadie, it's wonderful that you were given something of your dmother's that meant so much to everyone in your family!

OKay, your dmom and ddad sound so very loving and caring and you have a very special relationship with them. And that is why you are so loving and caring with your own family.

MT, your camping spot sounds so very peaceful.

Well, we had no plans to go out today; however, dh looked at his appointment calendar and discovered that he had missed an INR appointment on the second. First thing this morning he called to set up another one and they told him to come this afternoon after 1 pm. So I got through our daily routine quickly and got ready to go with him. The test was good at 2.0. She sent an e-script to Sam's pharmacy for a refill for him. We stopped at lunch then W-M on our way to pick that up. Got home at 5 pm. While we were out clouds gathered and turned dark. It's been raining off and on since 2 pm and thunder all around .

I have a few things yet to put away in the kitchen, then I'll be done for the evening.

((Elizabeth)) --- just caught your last post. ((Hugs))!

Nice evening with ds.

His roommate woke him (as per my voice-mail message) and then called me to say he had got my message.

Ds had worked 12 hours last night instead of the usual 8, plus had only napped in the car through the day since they drove 2 hours to go climbing and then 2 hours back during the 12 hours he was off. So he didn't hear any alarms this afternoon.

He switches back to daytime work for the rest of the week. We sorted out the credit card statement (since we both use it, we have to divide up the charges) and he talked a lot about his work. It was a rough night last night with the ER badly backed up. At one point 6 ambulances were 'on the ramp' (patients on the ambulance gurney in the hall with a paramedic attending) because there was no place for the patients in the ER. Plus an assortment of cops due to a knife fight and some drunks.

Wait time for lowest level triage was 6 - 8 hours. A number of people just left and one tried to leave but the nurse said she'd rather he stay. Then later, when he still didn't make the cut (more urgent cases came in) she moved him to a gurney in the triage area so he could at least lie down instead of having to sit in a wheelchair. At one point at 3:30 in the morning, ds ended up doing a triage since there was no nurse around and the patient knew exactly what was wrong. Ds can't fill in a triage form, so he wrote out the answers on a sticky note and told her when she was freed up from dealing with the ambulances.

I was able to eat some rice, carrots and little pork for my dinner. I also had a banana before dinner so am not hungry. My tummy is still unsettled, though.

Kathryn, I'm sorry you've been feeling so poorly.

Elizabeth, too bad about your DCat, but I'm glad she didn't suffer at the end.

Helia, as Sunny said, we didn't have much experience with grandparents...but as a grandmother I am extremely proud of ALL my DGkids and very happy when anyone shares anything about them with me. When I read what you said, I immediately thought, I wonder if your DMother is feeling the loss of never having kids naturally like that to be so proud of. I'm sure she loved you...but maybe she is a bit jealous of your relationship with your own children. Maybe she just needs a bit of reassurance that you love her as much as you do your children....

I've enjoyed reading all the travel stories and happy to see everybody back in their homes safely.

I've been in a funk for a while. Perhaps too many funerals in a row...but I could really feel the stress building up. Everything I've been doing, I've had to force myself to do. Sunday the rash on my hand was pretty bad and I noticed the skin on the heel of my hand was stiff and itchy...and yup it lifted right off. So I have a 1 1/2" x 2" spot very raw, except that the underneath skin is healing and getting stronger. I've been keeping salve and bandages on it and an old sock on top.

Called the dermatologist today and yes they could give me an appointment the 17th! When I grumbled that it would be better by then on its own...she set it up for the 15th. Thanks. I guess. See this is why I don't go to skin doctors. I can usually get better before I can get an appointment.

(Indiana) I hope you are doing alright. I hope soon the weather will be cooler. Will that make things easier for you?

We had a nice big thunderstorm today. I hope the rain holds off for a while tomorrow while DH pours cement. Need to go make lunches.
