Forgot to tell you the name of the book it is: When to Speak Up and When To Shut Up

Good book for me to read, right?

LOL! Emptynester I like it when you speak up. Especially when you tell us what free books are being offered on Kindle. Thank you!

I have finally finished with my dental work. Hooray! I love my 7 new veneers and it makes my mouth look so much better. My dentist is the best.

Anxious to hear something about Indiana and glad Kathryn is going to be getting to the bottom of her medical problem.

Our kids are coming from San Jose next weekend and I am so looking forward to it. They stay in Reno at night at their favorite place but drive down here to see us every day.

Happy weekend to all of you! :D

Ditto that!

Thanks, MT, for the reassurance that it is not 2nd-hand dog I'm reacting to. I really don't think it's any of the baby products, either -- I'm not noticing a 100% connection between exposure to baby & allergy reaction. I think it's just "tis the season" probably... * sigh * If I am not MUCH better Monday, I am going to call allergy doctor back, and maybe they will give me another "booster" shot or something, b/c I do NOT want to start back to school feeling like this!

Right now, dgs & dh are napping in the den.

DS reports that except for one feeding, dgs slept IN HIS CRIB from 11:00 p.m. till 7:00 a.m. this morning!!!
That's a big hooray. :D
LOL -- ds said, "I felt so refreshed this morning, after sleeping that long in the bed!"

Tomorrow is another day.

Hi everyone :) .

Playing catch up today & doing some chores to get ready for the weekend. I posted in the Cafe about a GE dishwasher recall I learned about on the news this AM. Will repost it here as it is a fire hazard:

I saw on the news this AM that several GE dishwashers are being recalled due to a fire hazard. Here's a link to see if yours is one of them & what to do. (Newscaster said GE was instructing people to pull them out & unplug them immediately; there have been 7 confirmed fires so far). Models from several years going back to 2006 are affected.

Late yesterday I stopped to watch a large spider make his web out on the deck, wishing I had a video camera set up to do time lapse photography. It was hard to see the web, so after dark I flipped on the outside light & it was beautiful. It was also unusual in that it was a half circle shape instead of the usual full circle. It is amazing how they just know how to make one -- I've never seen a mama spider showing her little ones how to do it! ;)

Joining you all in thinking about Indi & Kathryn ...

Lucylee, I can't believe school starts for you next week! This summer has really flown. Here, school has never started until Sept so I always get a jolt when you mention how early (to me :) ) you are heading back to the trenches.

I'm off to make some lunch. Have a wonderful day, everyone! Waving ~~~~~to all who stop by later.

So far today I've managed to s2slippers, eat an apple for lunch, start a load of laundry, run the dishwasher.

I'm in bed for long periods of time before getting up to do a few minutes of tasks. So don't worry about me overdoing it.

Breaks my heart to know how much this all affecting you, Kathryn.

Ok, MT, tell me HOW you find your 'free' books on Amazon. Whenever you mention something, I go to Amazon and can't find it. What am I doing wrong? I even have a 'prime' membership so am befuddled.

First load of laundry is hung up with dh's help. Second load is spinning in the washer and will move to the dryer. Dishwasher just finished running and the door is open so the dishes will air dry.

I also cleaned our bathroom (swish and a promise.)

The kitchen desperately needs a cleaning but that will wait until I'm stronger. And I still haven't watered the indoor plants this week (a Monday chore.) Dh vacuumed the main floor on the weekend and I did the bedroom level almost 2 weeks ago so that will be important to do soon, but can wait a bit. The kitchen floor is sticky. If I turn out to be really sick, I'll hire a cleaning service to come in to do a once over rather than stress over it.

Because my chores are timed, I know how much effort each item will take and that helps me a lot. It also helps with prioritizing. Actually, top of the priority list right now is cleaning out the fridge because there is a lot of inedible food taking up space and giving the impression that we have things to eat, when, in fact, we don't.

I had the rest of my cereal for a snack while downstairs. (I had poured too much this morning so left the excess in a bowl on the counter.)

(BTW: I'm typing all this while lying in bed. So I'm resting while posting.)

Good afternoon, I am finally back home. Trip to doc with dmom, then got mom back home. Stopped at a Subway for lunch, then to old house with check. Back to Goodwill drop off, picked up salmon at a seafood/specialty store, then a run through the grocery store.

For shabbat dinner tonight will have salmon w avocado sauce, a green salad, roasted potatoes and challah. At the seafood store, I ran into a congregant who is very vocal about not liking the rabbi - in fact, we are meeting next week for me to record her thoughts as part of my fact-gathering regarding a new contract. I got an earful from her over getting my salmon; I hope it doesn't choke me to eat it now.

Going to call dh to let him know I'm cooking tonight, then will give myself a little down time.

Harriet, dmom's dr appts are really stressful for me. She doesn't hear (and today had a malfunctioning hearing aid also) and I have to help decipher and explain later/reinforce what the doc said. We are very different and don't really have much in common anymore, other than that we're family. Her clothes smell bad because of dbro's second hand smoke as he lives with her. (Dbro, to his credit does do grocery shopping, some cooking and her laundry.) She was telling me today also that my dbil and nephew are considering having my dsis "committed." She has been mentally ill for several years, sees a doc every three months but nothing ever seems to improve. She only bathes when someone makes her, eats a horrible, horrible diet, rarely leaves her house. She has been calling people, including my dmom up to a dozen times a day recently. BIL is now living with dnephew (their son) so he can deal with his own diabetes and health issues and she isn't really able to live alone. They were actually divorced when nephew was young, got back together after several years, but never actually remarried.

Dmom's arthritis pain seems to only be helped by ibuprofen and her arthritis/pain doc recently put her back on 800 mg of ibuprofen, three times a day - a huge dose. Regular doc very concerned about such a high dose but she's tried almost everything else and it either doesn't work or makes her too groggy. Dmom's doc said to me under her breath that she hated to see her on such a high dose but dmom has been adamant for years that it's the only thing that helps her.

Still feel lousy but have ordered up a burger for my dinner. Nice to have a personal chef!

He's on his way to get the mail and potato chips to go with the burgers. So it will be a while before I'm fed. Maybe there's time for a nap.

Read a bit - didn't sleep as dh called to check in, then storm started. I've put the Thundershirt on dMacs. He may be a bit calmer than usual but he's still an unhappy camper. This is a big storm with lots of rain and wind. Appears salmon will be prepared on George Forman grill.

Three emails forwarded emails from lady I talked to this afternoon.

-clear kitchen table
-get oven preheating for potatoes
-make salad
-get potatoes ready to go into oven
-ask dkids to set table for shabbat (challah, wine and candles)
