What are you thankful for today? I'm thankful that Kathryn is seeming to feel a little better, though obviously has a ways to go. I'm thankful for this village. It's such a warm & welcoming and thoughtful place to be.

For some reason I don't have dgs7 today. I called dh about 6:50 and asked if he had him. I had heard the sliding door about 10-15 minutes before that but when I came out -no dgs. He had come to tell me dgs wasn't coming today but thought I was sleeping. DDIL has today off and DS-R had called dh about 6:30 to tell him. Then began to 'worry' something's wrong. Guess I'll find out later. Rather odd for her to have a day off in the middle of the week.

It's a bit rainy at the moment and cool. I can't imagine 106, Okay!

Okay & Dee ~ I love 3x5 cards, too. I find them comforting because they prove that I'm not as lazy as I sometimes feel.

I have days like that too, Booksaver, until I look at the pile of cards done! That always makes me realize that I too, am not as lazy as I think.

Thankful for peaceful moments holding dgs and watching him sleep...

Last year. . . oh, wow, lucylee!! How exciting! From a parent and student point of view, I must say, that we are feel sad when teachers retire from our high school. Ds was sad to see his Jr. year English teacher retire last spring. It seems the good ones are always retiring. Happy for them - and you - though! I hope it is a tremendous year!

Per the discussion last night, I just wanted to chime in with Twins as someone whose legs are her best physical feature. Mine are long, generally slender -- and since I've been jogging, they've become even more well-shaped. I do have small-ish ankles and feet, especially for my height. I wear 7.5 shoes, and they need to be narrow enough. I am actually smaller framed even though I am tall -- but I am carrying extra weight so I look a little larger than I should. I can hide it well. . . . My legs are a bit on the pale side, however; maybe I should try Twins' method for color. I don't have spider veins - yet. Maybe they are still to come. Though I don't consider myself young, I think at 45 years, I am younger than some of you here -- which is another reason why I enjoy coming here! I can learn so much from you all! You all are mentoring without even knowing it. LOL! Dh is 48.5; I think some of you are close in age to him.

OK, I am chatting now. . .I took dd14 to the school at 7:30 a.m. She is packed and on the bus and en route to Interlochen music camp! I have just been toodling around since then. I'm off now to get the a.m. routine done.

Thankfulness -- I'm thankful for so many things. I believe God has been so good to me!!

I am thankful for the wonderful music program at the high school that all the music kids can go to Interlochen for a week. I was told this was the biggest group going up there yet!! Of course, parents pay the $$ for the camp; but it is worth it.

I am thankful for my 3 wonderful children.

I am thankful for my wonderful, creative, hard-working, out-of-the-box dh!!

Oh! it is a beautiful morning with the air fresh and clean from yesterday's rain. I can see the grass greening up from when we arrived last week.

Legs/stockings. I threw all my pantyhose away the day I retired along with the dress hi heels. I vowed never to wear them again. And I haven't. I don't own a dress or skirt but do have 2 pair of nice slacks. I wear them with sandals. For everyday, I wear cargo or levi shorts or levies if the weather permits. My legs are fat and usually sport at least 1 bruise - but that is the way my body is. Don't like it - don't look.

Time for me to get moving. Need to go work on the volunteer room. I am going to spend MWF at the shop and TT at sewing. Don't like it - we'll go down the road.

Oh! how I love to be an old lady who can get away with being so set in my ways.

LOL, MT! I really love your presence here. I enjoy your being so happy with you!!

I should have said -- I don't wear hose w/ skirts/dresses if I can help it. There are a couple annual dressy dinners for dh's job where I feel I need to wear hose. Other than those events, I really don't. I don't even wear skirts much, not even to church. It is too cold in the winter and I just prefer capris in the warmer weather. . .This is very different from when we lived in TX. There, I wore dresses/skirts to church every single week!!

Like MT, I have fat legs also (and calfs and chunky ankles) but I wear mid-calf or lower skirts all the time. No hose except when preaching (I'll go to church in bear legs but feel like I should have hose on to preach until it is an ankle length skirt, plus my shoulders must be covered - no idea where that comes from but since I'm not allowed to wear vestments, it is my own dress code.)

In the winter, I'll wear hose or even tights, or even tights with leg warmers as well.

I try and keep my toe nails done in the summer to make my feet a bit more dressy in the sandals.

I'm up for now. Lights out at 10:45 and I didn't get out of bed until 9 a.m. I've had breakfast and unloaded the dish drainer but haven't s2s. I'm thinking of going back to bed now.

Dh leaves here around 11:15 and won't be back until 11 p.m. Then leaves tomorrow morning at 6:15. He really needs a roadie to help him (he's got a giant amp, guitar, cables and his music books to drop off and then he has to move the car to a parking lot.) But I'm just not well enough. Even if I dropped him and went home and then came back later to get him, I don't think I can do it since I'm so wiped after being out twice yesterday.

The fax machine is empty so no blood work results yet.

** LO to counselor appt
** Lunch with DGS17 & DGS15. This will be the end of our summer lunches and afternoons spent together. We will return to our supper/evening time together - much harder to fit this later gatherings in with their school activities, but we just make it work.
** LO to meet & greet @ school.

How DOES ooze happen? Seems I can do the same picking up day after day after day. Did manage to clean out one cupboard this morning.

I feel like (white glove) DSisIL is coming next month that I'm looking at every space differently. They didn't come up last year and so have not seen our new abode. I'm trying to decide whether to have them stay in dd's MH or here. Guess I'll start by asking dd if she minds if they stay there and then can decide from there. Could well be that dd would rather they not stay there and that is fine with me. DSisIL is so very critical and I'm sure dd would just rather not hear it.

I too enjoy getting to hold dgs, LucyLee. It's such a peaceful feeling holding a newborn. It is sometimes hard for me because I can't manipulate my left arm very well and it's usually quite painful by the time I've held him a few minutes -but oh so worth it!

DH was home for a bit, waiting for the rain to quit -back at work now. He told ds-R this morning that he definitely isn't going to PA with them this week. Hoping DS wasn't offended by that. DH just feels he needs to work since he just went back last week and dboss is out with shoulder surgery -leaving no one here really (at least not anyone who can fix ANYTHING.)

Going back to puttering some more. I really need to be more active and it's hard to be in a park model -or any RV for that matter.

I am thankful for my life and all those who touch it.... That would include y'all!

Hummmmm... I hate panty hose. I had horrible looking legs for years covered with vericos veins. I still went without hose and wore shorts. I accepted my legs the way they were. Then several years ago my legs began to hurt so bad I choose to have the veins removed. Cost me a pretty penny but worth it as the pain was reaching unbearable. Now I have great looking legs. Wasn't something I gave much thought to at the time, but I do enjoy the benefits.

I can't use self tanners because tha only emphasizes the 30 or so spots on each leg where they were punctured for the procedure. I do have a bunch of little spider veins on both legs, but I wear them proudly.

For myself, I am trying to redefine what aging means. I was a rebel during the 60's and rediscovery
