SKIPPABLE VENT: I mentioned that we went to a wedding in town on Saturday. Was wondering how they had many older people attending. There was 1 parking lot on the level of the church -all handicapped spots. From where we were parked we had to go up 4 steps, up 1 flight of stairs, then another 1/2 flight, then 3 more, then 3 more. I usually have to go 1 step and bring right leg to that level and so on, so it takes me a while. Every once in a while I try putting my right up and am immediately sorry I did. I became immediately thankful for our easy access at our church. VENT OVER.

Good morning! I got up late today--too much excitement yesterday, I think. It rained about 3 times during the night. It was as hard a rain as I have ever heard in my life. No drought here. Wish we could share that with some of you who need rain.

I am thankful for my DH and a DD and DS who have been successfully launched into the world. I thank God for keeping them safe and healthy. Love my new DDIL. It is comforting to think of her and DS looking out for each other from now on. Also thankful for my father's influence and my dear grandparents, especially my step-grandmother. She is the person I always felt I belonged to! Thankful we are in this community--so many things came together for us to be here. You would not believe the ties we have with our new pastor. With the places he has been and places we have been, it is certain that we were meant to cross paths in this place. I could go on and on...

Think I will work on paperwork today. Much to file and shred, etc...

Dee: Please remember that RV's sleep TWO!! Unless they are sweet grandchildren. Kids and especially in-laws do not get to sleep in the same RV as we do. If DD doesn't want them to sleep in her RV, sweetly tell them that you have made reservations for them at a near-by motel or hotel, where you are sure she will be comfortable. People who are not nice to you (and she hasn't been) don't get nice treatment. The crabby old lady has spoken!!

I've spent the morning sweeping up bug carcases and dirt, sorting and refolding material and trying to find material to work with. Lots and lots of small pieces of material but nothing that matches. Also huge bolts of really ugly material. I'm home to get some graph paper and then off to measure the room and furniture to see how it can be re-arranged.

Blood work is in!

Significant improvement in some numbers (my AST went from 600 to 277, still 10x what it was 10 weeks ago but much better.) Others have a little improvement (ALT from 820 to 762, normal being under 36.) But all numbers are moving in the right direction and only 5 results are outside normal limits compared to 7 last time.

So I must be getting better. These numbers will make it easier to wait for the ultrasound results.

Anyone ever heard of T astefully S imple? DH bought a bread mix and a cheese ball mix of theirs from a lady at work. They are wonderful...a little expensive to have all the time, but a great treat. And no, I do not work for them--haha!

Good afternoon. I am not feeling very thankful, only stressed about my job situation. I should be thankful, I have many blessings, but right now, worry is casting a shadow over everything. I have been trying to live very cheaply. So much so that Dion's last night felt like a treat. It is sad when a sandwich at Dion's feels like an indulgence. I have also called about getting my dryer repaired, I certainly don't want to buy a new one right now! Last night I did cook chicken for lunches this week. I still need to put away a suitcase (yes it has been a month). Tonight is Girls' Night Out with DD10 and it will probably be Chinese food and chuck e cheese. I also have a pile of things to return to XDH from when DD stayed a week with me, including her retainer (oops).

Sometime today or tonight, I need to call for an appointment, finish putting away the things from the car, and put away that suitcase.

IMHO: Pantyhose is an invention of the devil!

Now Elizabeth.... which do you think is worse, pantyhose or a garter belt and stockings? (Or worse yet, a girdle and stockings.) Although, I suspect that your age excuses you here. It is possible you don't recall the nightmare of trying to do up stockings.

I'm not fond of pantyhose's cost but they do have advantages. For me, it is easier to pack a couple of pairs of slimming pantyhose for formal nights on the ship, than to have pack a girdle and hose.

Glad you have the numbers to back up your own feeling (and the doctor's) that you are improving, Kathryn.

Re: dressing for congregation or pulpit - yep, I believe, since I haven't seen my male minister's shoulders in the pulpit, perhaps I would not expect to see a woman's shoulders there, either. Our church has gone to a lower level of casual, though. It's disheartening to me. Our music leader was in what I would call a "grunge" outfit recently of, like, "painter's pants" or "cargo pants" with all the pockets, you know? And, basically, a tank top. Part of me has a knee-jerk reaction of no longer finding her credible. I know she is well-educated, musically inclined, knowledgeable. But the person standing before me belies that. The hunters in my family wear camo dressier than that.

Thankful that I can come here and find honest, down-to-earth conversations amongst women with wit and humor in a supportive environment. You all have hit my funny bone with the continuing comments on hose and dressing for church. Elizabeth's opinion followed by Kathryn's response caused me to giggle. . . . . And the picture of your music leader in grunge, Harriet. . . well, oh my! That is interesting to hear and would be a challenge for me too.

Not much is happening here. I'm too embarrassed to tell you what I've done, b/c it implies a whole lot of things I haven't done.

The good news is that dd16 has just left to volunteer at pregnancy place, so I am now . . . . alone in my house!! I can't remember the last time that happened. I have maybe 2 hours - and I need to run some errands, of course.

I will get some things done. Hoping to bbl.
