I managed to get out the door earlier this morning for my walk.

Last night we opened the bedroom windows and it was so nice to air out the house. I have opened other windows this morning but will shut the house up before too long and get the a/c going again. Yesterday the high was to be 81 and I never seen it over 77. It almost seemed like a fall day.

Dd2 commented that the only way we are going to get out of this drought is to have a lot of snow. Our part of the state used to be known for snowy winters but each winter we seem to get less snow. Last year was one big snow ahead of Christmas and that was about it, except for several snows that were no more than skiffs. I just knew that last winter would be bad since dd2 had moved and would be running back and forth to town. Even that didn't help the cause.

Twins, is dd headed back to college this weekend?

Guess I better shower, finish my grocery list and get with it.

Lilac, my dd is on the road back to school now! We had a good morning together. Both of us in a good mood and I was (properly) tearful on her departure. She'll have friends there help her unload.

Ahhhh! The house is quiet, at least until ds gets up and starts looking for things. Dh is taking him back to Atlanta tomorrow.

LO to school. He wasn't ready to be dropped off and join the other kids on his own. He tightly held onto my hand while we walked across the street to school and I thought he would want to go alone from there. He greeted the librarian then went & shook the principal hand.....however he kept holding my hand with a death grip as we joined the other children lined up to enter the school building. So we chatted while he found his classroom, put his backpack in his slot, and found his seat. Then his confidence returned full force and he was ready to "stay all by himself".

First round in the little bathroom gutting/cleansing done. Everything that can be removed is out. The sound of the room completely changed. Now it echo's.

That was our area of our state as well, Lilac. Good for DS-R who works for the town and didn't have to plow as much (of course that also meant no overtime). Bad for DS-A who owns a landscape, mowing & winter upkeep business and employs about 6-8 people. He had an awful time keeping them busy enough last winter that he didn't lose them to other jobs. At least his 'main' ones. Our city was always in competition with Syracuse & Buffalo to see who got the most snow. Can't remember the outcome -seems the mayors always had to concede something.

I have been on a ROLL! I started looking for the bag of sugar to make Hummingbird feed! I ended up cleaning and rearranging 8+ cupboards plus the 2 drawers I already did earlier. Felt good -of course when I was up on the stool (getting close to not being able to do that anymore ) I saw the top of the refrigerator! Now have to find something to dust that with and may lay a good towel across the top -used to do that with the fridge at home.

My plan for today was to sort a pile of office supplies, etc that I have next to our coffee table. Pulled them out of the front cabinets a few days ago and there they sit.

Dh surprised me a little while ago when I was talking about downsizing in the things we take to FL. His reply was, "I'm ready". For FL? Already? Yep. He must be more tired than I even thought. I know he is.

Going to 'wing' it with hummer feed.

Oh, yes, I can imagine, Twins. Remember I have been horribly frustrated by the state of gd14's room and the 'guest' bathroom. Especially the bathroom since it's used by any guests and is easily seen as one comes in the front door.

LucyLee, glad you got to have dgs over last night. I kinda wish we could see more of ours. When DS-A's first was little we had him a LOT. But we lived right next door. Now we have to carve time to go see this one. He's beginning to look more like his big brother (12) all the time. Don't think he looks like his big sis (also 12) at all. I need to have dh lift our bed so I can see if DS-A's pictures are in there. Want to compare.

Round 2 done in bathroom. Washed the ceiling and walls down. YUCKO! The rinse water smells like hair spray. It makes me wonder.....if hair spray builds up and sticks to the walls/ceiling enough to keep the smell......how much of it ends up in my lungs?? I don't use a lot of hair spray and only use it when don't want stray hairs to come out of "special hair do"..... guessing maybe one can a year. After smelling the hair spray on the walls, now I'm rethinking my hair spray usage. I don't want to breath it....even a little of it. Decision made. No more hair spray.

OKay, you can get some styling gel that you can put on your hands and then gently smooth into your hair that will do the same thing without the overspray. I use a pump spray, instead of aerosol and don't notice a lot of overspray (like you, it is used seldom.)

The forecast here is for teen care today. I have already taken dd16 to the SOS, so she now has her temporary drivers license! She can't wait to go drive on her own. Ds wasn't quite this eager when he got his license. She has a hair cut appt. across town tomorrow a.m. Maybe she can driver herself then? I don't know; I still feel a little hesitant about her driving by herself.

Ds has oral surgery at 1:45 today to take out 3 wisdom teeth, still in his jaw bone, as well as 2 12-month molars (on same side of his mouth, upper and lower) that never erupted. Since he is 18 now, the orthodontist thinks those molars won't come in. She thinks they might be ankylosed, fused to the jaw bone. So, I will be with ds this afternoon. He went to work this morning, and I hope he'll be home in time for the appt.

Dd16 has a friend coming over this afternoon.

I'm off to finish the a.m. routine. Then, I might run a couple small errands before I take ds to his appt.

Hi to all. Don't you need to hear a slice of life this morning?

Tough a.m. I had fixed my ddad's breakfast and gone to the rear of the house to make our bed. HRH was in the kitchen getting ready for the day. HRH went to let the hens out and my dad put out the cat (Tobias is never outdoors because we have a German Shepherd out there), locked the kitchen door, effectively locking HRH out of the house, and turned a burner on the stove on "high", placing his ceramic cup of coffee there to warm it up more. Although HRH had been knocking all 'round the house, I didn't know until he came to the sliding rear door after he'd (surprise!) found Tobias on a window ledge on the other side of the house from where he'd been evicted. Thankfully we went to check on my ddad immediately and found the very hot cup before it burst. My ddad is angry, insisting it is all my fault because I should have been in the kitchen instead of leaving him "having to do everything". If there is a moral to this story, I guess it is vigilance. Don't ever assume there isn't some kind of craziness happening a couple rooms away from you.

Tobias cleaned himself for a half hour, which would be amusing except I don't know for sure that what he got into was funny. I just hope it was organic and cat-safe. Whatever it is, is it completely disdainful to him. Dd washed his paws (I kid you not) with baby wipes (she says, "Well, I'm the only Mommy he has.") and the fact that he patiently allowed such a thing is telling. It was like he appreciated the help, so we may never know the answer to that puzzle.

helia, insist that they CALL IN the prescription for pain med before you leave their office. With ds they just handed me a prescription and by the time I drove to the drug store and they took their sweet time filling it poor ds had gone too long without the med. Stock up on soft foods because you don't know which one will be the one he'll crave. Ds wanted vanilla pudding. Dstepson wanted macaroni and cheese. Dd32 didn't eat enough and got sick from the meds, so watch out for that, too.

Complemented a lady that works there later and she said, "believe what that guy tells you because he's an expert. He just picked up extra work at our place (great clips)". Anyway, on Amazon the reviews are through the roof.

I am trying to get stuff rounded up to pack for our weekend away.
Realtor wants to show the house; not prob. b/c we are gone more ex. for me I told him it would not be perfect but would do the best I could. Camper is in front of the drive way b/c of the patio project, and hen pen so it looks like a construction zone.

Don't know how much cleaning I"ll get done but I've been doing the "Stash n Dash" all morning!
Luckily I started on the kitchen yesterday just in case and it's not so bad. Living room is acceptable if I dust. Not sure if I"m going to tell h. we have a showing or not depends on when he get home and his mood.

Went to a yd. sale early and found some odds and ends of wire for the hen pen packed 'em home
on the last half of my walk!
