[red face] Lilac, after all my raving and ranting we had a wonderful time. The wife must be an overachiever however, (maybe even born organized?) because they showed up with a tray of veggies, prosciutto and and dip, and another tray of focaccia and pesto, and had all the ingredients in their refrigerator/pantry to do so. But they were delightful - reminded me of me and dh 20 years ago before kids, LOL.

I was particularly rushed for time Monday morning because we were required to be at an 8:30 meeting 1.5 blocks from our office, or at 8:15 "if we wanted breakfast." I do very well if I make it to the office at 8:30 - 8:45 so being there earlier was a challenge and on Monday mornings I have to leave a note/check for cleaning lady and try to clean up behind us. I would have rather had a nice quiet evening on Sunday evening but it worked out okay I guess.

My commute is now about 20 minutes less than before, but I didn't walk dogs in the a.m. at the old house, so I am still pressed for time in the mornings. I've gotten lazy over the summer in starting my day after doing extensive internet surfing.

Well, I posted one resume on monster.com. I have not found anything to appy for in my emails. This is so awful. After Girls' Night Out I need to clean up the kitchen from yesterday's marathon cooking.

Oh, dear. I did not have such a productive day today. I kept you company surfing the internet, Twins.

Probably too much detail - revealing how boring my life really is: LOL!! :) I did get dd14 registered at the school! So, I now have her class schedule. I'll go back tomorrow to register dd16 and hopefully pick up their books. I only want to stand in the book depository line once. . . .Dd14 has 3 strong teachers in her core academic classes that I know. Well, the band director and the arts and design teacher are also excellent, but I wouldn't consider those classes core academics. Two unknowns: the biology teacher and world history/geography teacher. The website of the hist./geo. teacher is a bit hyper w/ material, so maybe he is a super-organized teacher? Or at least he is computer savvy. . . I put her name down for synchro. swimming team as she has expressed interest in that. She has decided not to do field hockey at the high school b/c of the time commitment - however, I think synchro. will also have a decent time commitment once it gets going: 2 hour practices after school 4/5 days a week, starting in Nov. But it is short-lived; I think the field hockey team is expected to do conditioning year round. . . .

OK, I'm off to finish up the dishes. Ds helped with after dinner clean up. Then, I'm going to review some chapters for teaching team meeting tomorrow. Also need to do garbage/recycling tonight.

I have a new exercise video that was recommended to me. I might give it a whirl tonight too. It is called the 30 day shred. I looked at reviews online; several said it was hard on backs and knees, my 2 problem spots. Well, my knees aren't usually a problem but I fell hard on my knees on our last hiking trip (I slipped on a wet rock that rainy day) and my right knee has been slightly dodgy since. The fall was even harder on my body b/c I had a 28-ish lb. backpack on me! Usually, the knee is fine, but at the beginning of a jog and a bit after a jog, it sometimes feels quirky. . . Anyhow, I can adjust exercises for how my body is feeling.

Bernice, I hope your little one is feeling better soon. Ds used to get strep regularly, like 1-2 times/year, and his first symptoms were always headache and vomitting. It took me a couple goes with strep before I recognized what was going on with him. . .

Thinking of you all; glad you had a nice evening with neighbors, Twins.
Another watermelon adventure!
((OK and LO))

Helia: my dsisil did a 30 day shred with her trainer and it was a disaster. She had been losing weight very steadily but quickly and I guess she plateaued. Up until that point she was healthy. The shred was enough to throw her body out of balance and it has never recovered. Her hormones were completely out of whack. My sister displayed the attitude of an abuse spouse (she'd panic if she wasn't home and the meal wasn't cooked when my dsisil would walk through the door because she didn't want to have to put up with the verbal barrage.) My sister was completely walking on egg shells all the time, not knowing who'd walk into the room, Ms. Jekyll or Ms. Hyde.

My dsisil wouldn't eat enough to keep her doctor happy (he kept saying she needed more calories but her head wouldn't allow her to eat more because she was afraid she'd start gaining again.) Her marriage is under strain, I haven't seen her smile in my past 3 visits. When I talked with her, she said the shred was turning point. Up until then, things were going well and if she had a chance to turn back time, she would not have done the shred.

I know you are doing it at home and far less obsessive about your weight (at the point of the shred, my dsisil had lost over 100 lbs over 7 months.) But I thought you should know that it can mess with your body chemistry.

Dinner is done. I've cleaned up the kitchen and started the dishwasher.

Dh is off visiting a friend. I'm going to bed now. My body is sore - no kidding, today was my first major physical activity in almost a month.

Hmm... thank you for the heads up, Kathryn. Yeah, I almost didn't get it b/c of the online reviews, but a friend has used it and highly recommended it. . . . Maybe I'll ask for a good video work out recommendation over on H and F. I feel sure Harriet does something. I'd like a work out that would target the core of my body; while my legs are getting stronger, my tummy and torso are still soft and out of shape. Also, I like the idea of a quick work out I can fit into my schedule. Jogging where we jog -- which is incredibly scenic, along a river -- takes a good 1 hour 15 minutes by the time we drive, stretch, jog, and then stretch again.

Yes, it is true, I am not obsessed with my weight -- thus, the fact that I have been the same weight for years. Well, I've actually gained about 8 lbs this spring, but I'm not acting like I'm anxious to get it off. I'm not highly concerned with my looks in general. I consider myself more or less attractive, and that's about it. Dh thinks I'm beautiful, and that is more than good enough for me! :)

My day was good until dinner plans got messed up it's a -2 now I'm here alone.
Dgd has left.
Dson & H. are at some car show thingie with elder two dgds.
My bday plans are all messed up and did not work out non unusual but it's better to not make plans than to have them and then have it unravel I do not feel as bad. Heat is making every one come apart at the seams or feel like it. 6:20 p.m. here and 93* out still. Fri. supposed to cool off a lot and feel like spring. I'm struggling to have a good attitude.

Had a long post and deleted most of it b/c it was just whining about me not getting my way.

Hi again everyone. DD10 has come and gone. She had a good 2nd day of school but a bad day at aftercare. One of the younger, but bigger, girls is not very nice to her. She wanted to eat in and watch a movie. Halfway through the movie, she wanted to look at buttons. She is starting a button collection. So we went and got some, then came back for more movie. Unfortunately we left her backpack at aftercare. It is not an unsurmountable problem though. I have done some kitchen cleanup, but there is more to do. Some good news: a friend called me to make plans for Friday night, so I won't be wondering what to do with myself that time. I also have plans for Saturday. I am going to watch some reruns of Hogan's Heroes and do crosswords for a little while then go to bed. I have already fixed tomorrows lunch. Good night all!

helia, I'll post to you in H and F tomorrow morning. As of this month I'm starting my 12th year of Teresa Tapp's series of workouts as my main exercise, although I have a mini-library of others that I sometimes do for fun. Remember, the video workout that's best for you is the one you will do. :) And there are many choices. Definitely the first thing anyone should do with a new exercise video would be to "read" it anyway, watching it through to learn. So do that with your new one and see what you think. You may like Michaels. As I contemplate Michaels and Tapp as far as styles of teaching and emphasis ... probably polar opposites.

Elizabeth, I have had good luck finding small, varied groups of "orphan" buttons on ebay at reasonable prices. I've found that most people who sell buttons are very nice and honest. I do like to see all the buttons in the photo, not just buy some container that someone says has pretty buttons in it.

I am so interested to read about several village children's first experiences with this school year. I'll also have news to tell tomorrow about dd14's Open House at high school. Overwhelmed tonight, though.

Cowinkie, how is your foot?

Big heavy work getting done somewhere (though not here) with floor sanding and outdoor washings. Y'all want to come here next?

Bernice, I sure hope your kiddo feels better soon.
Oh, so nice to see AFlyer here. I did not know your son was old enough for college!

Dee, I was the other person with the watermelon disaster. Went to wash and refrigerate a melon that pastor had brought for the kids, and discovered it was leaking and it exploded when I attempted to move. NOT FUN!

Glad to be going to dr. tomorrow morning. I am assembling stuff to take along so I can run errands on the way home. Library books, something for county office with a check, that bank thing I missed today.

I am now noticing that I have sore spots on both sides. On left side down from my armpit. Not up in my armpit exactly, but along the side. Same place on the other side. Now I'm wondering about my lymph glands. I am sure hoping this dr. (who I don't know from Adam) is able to diagnose this correctly.

Have couple things soaking in bleach/soap and need to rinse and hang up. I did clean up the kitchen properly after DH cooked. He made sausage and german pancakes. I think we'd have a lot more meat around here if he was chief cook all the time!
