FRESH START MONDAY

Today's title comes compliments of something LucyLee said last night. There are many (most) of us who need a fresh start today. Last week was a rough one for all of us and I'm sure we could all use that "fresh" start.

I slept very well again last night. That's 2 in a row.Got up at midnight for potty break but went right back to sleep. Woke up at 5:30 when dh got up and HAD to visit the bathroom, but had to w-a-i-t for dh before I dared get up!

Now I'm awake. Feel much better today. Never had anything affect me like that co2 did yesterday. Now that I'm thinking clearly again I realize how close I came to the hospital. I am grateful.

DD texted me last night that they're having a 'snow' day today. Mainly because their county's schools are storm shelters for Hillsborough county. They'll get rain but probably not as much as 40 miles west.

Wishing Harriet's dd14 a good first day of school. Today would have been gd14's first day too.

I have to, have to, do a load of laundry today. At some point this week also need to strip my bed. Since we're in an RV I only keep 1 set so have to wash, dry & get back on the bed. But the sheets we have dry super quick anyway. I do have a 2nd set for our sofa that I could use in a pinch if I had to.

We are getting out of "Dodge" as soon as we can tonight. No potluck for us tonight. We'll see what kind of eats are available at C World and if not enough we'll stop at one of the restaurants in town. Was going to visit ddil, dgks and new baby tonight, but it dawned on me late that they're planning to go to Gettysburg today. Somehow I kinda doubt it, but we'll see.

Going to heat water soon so I can s2s, do dishes and wash my hair. May have to heat it a little more for all that.

Have to make & refill the hummer feeder today. They're really going at it now. Must be getting ready to head out. I don't think they're usually around after Labor
Day. How do they know it's Labor Day anyway?

I was going to call it "Up with the Chickens Monday" in honor of Nancy's new henhouse and also hearing a rooster this morning when I had said he'd be asleep. Needed headlights this morning. Yawwwwwwn.... Morning Daily Card... ... bbl

Well, actually, let's change that. I have 10 mins and will spend it here. Looks like MD Card and following hours will be from BOTH to BOTH this year.

Dd13 was happy all morning until that moment when she was on the sidewalk, hearing my "have a good day". She got a little bit of a deer-in-the-headlights look and said "I'll try to figure it out." She saw a friend but it was a guy, so propriety dictates that she not call out to him like she would a girlfriend. Still, I think just that much familiarity reminded her she's not the only freshman. She does know 1/8th of the student population of the school. Hmmm.... ... We had a set of Atkins shakes here in case of a too-late morning and were shocked that she had to resort to one already. So we thought we'd need to arise earlier than 6, but then at the school it was easy, so I guess we're still okay with 6.

Kathryn, you're fighting back to health. Turn on the AC. Did the doctor give you a reason for ditching the diet drinks? Dsonil drinks several a day.

Refilling hummingbird feeder is one of my cards for today. They are very interesting to watch.

Today starts 2nd full week of LO attending school. Maybe this week he will become ready to move into "drop off" status instead of having a death grip on my fingers all the way to the entrance door. Regardless.....I'm very thankful that he LOVES school and is always eager to return.

I'm in training for staying up with school activities and requirements. I have added about 1/2 dozen of reoccurring cards so I won't forget the basics....
** Monthly - send lunch money ($1.60 x # of days he will eat) He doesn't eat lunch at school on Tuesday because of his counselor appt
** Bi-weekly - provide snacks & drinks for class (14 students + 2 teachers)
** Weekly - Monday - process Monday folder all papers from previous week come home and next week scheduled activities.
** weekly - Monday - send freshly washed nap blanket back to school
** Weekly - Tuesday - send Monday folder back to school with papers filled out (last week there was about 1/2 dozen to fill out and return)
** Weekly - Friday - bring nap blanket home to be washed.

Plus adding the following school related activities to my calendar for this week -
** Monday fund raiser (cards)
** Tuesday/Wednesday - Vision test
** Thursday - Field trip (I will go as sponsor)
** Friday - Parade (need to dress LO in Hawaii type clothes)

Dr. didn't give a reason and there's no link to liver issues as far as I can see (a couple of flawed studies show a link but since the methodology is flawed they aren't given any weight.)

On the other hand, when I travel, I often give up milk for 2 days or more and fresh milk for a month because it is just not available. Yet I don't get withdrawal headaches. Same for juice, salad, kinds of meat, etc. etc. Even decaf tea (which I do give up sometimes when on the road because it isn't available.) And chocolate. In other words, because of my long trips (36 hours from airport to airport and then the time to find food sources in a new place) I have lots of practice giving up certain foods. The absence of those foods don't leave me with blistering headaches. But take away diet soft drinks (which I only do at home because they are the only reliable drink I can get on the road) and I suffer withdrawal. It isn't caffeine because I've tried subbing in regular coke and tea. It has to be the aspartame or other chemicals they use in the drink that aren't in regular coke. My cousin recently gave up diet coke and had the same 3 day headache. It isn't just me.

So, I'm fully aware that it isn't good for me. My problem is that safe things to drink are harder to come across when on the road and it is the only no-calorie drink that is universally available (safe, trusted, water isn't because servers are known to refill water bottles but they can't do that with soft drinks and I trust the water supply at a Coke bottling plant, even in the third world.)

Thus, while I'm sure the diet soft drinks have nothing to do with what happened to me, while I'm off them, I'd like to stay off for as long as possible. The doctor's orders help a bit with that. And the fact that I'm still preferring water or watered down juice to even coke is a sign that my system is happier off almost everything but water. (Milk is also fine but sometimes my tea doesn't sit well with me so I skip it.)

The quantity of food I can eat is also down. Last night at dinner, I had just an Angus Burger and a couple of fries. And that was enough despite not having lunch. I did have some watermelon when I got home and then some crackers and milk later in the evening. But normally, I would have had the burger and a medium or large fries, plus a 20oz drink and possible an ice cream cone, sundae or mcFlurrie for dessert, justifying the dessert because I hadn't had lunch.

I'm up. I spent 5 hours on the couch last night and did sleep better. An allergist was on the radio this morning, saying to stay inside and use AC so I shut up the house and turned on the AC. Told dh the doctor said to.

I've stripped and remade the bed, tidied my room, dressed and emptied the dishwasher. Just finishing my tea and chocolate now.

I have to remember to shower tonight, instead of tomorrow morning. I have a meeting I have to attend tomorrow and showering always takes a whack of my energy so I figure I'll do it the night before. I also have to remember to put a pillow in the car. Dh has errands to run after my meeting (and I have a couple too) so I'll take a pillow so I can lie down in the back seat while he runs his errands. Hopefully, it won't be too hot to be in the car.

I'm excited to hear about dd14's first day of school, Harriet! I too wish my kids could have lucylee as a teacher.

It is raining!! A lovely, gentle rain. We need it. I think my watering the flowers and tomatoes last night is what brought it on. LOL!

Ds is off to work.

I'm grateful for a fresh start! I do need to crank back on some of the bad habits I've been courting.

Today, I will exercise, likely at the gym, and go to the groc. store. That should be all the running around I'll need to do.

MDCard done well including sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor and taking 2 bags of trash out. Refrigerator cleared a little, though not perfect. Laundry load will still need to be folded and put away when it is finished.

My ddad's breakfast on the table. As I often do, I'll probably have to go back and rewarm coffee and water (he drinks only warm water) because he is taking so long with morning grooming today. I certainly don't want him to be unable to find help when he needs his coffee warmed!

Thank you for posting the extra school organization you are doing, OKay. It's interesting even though it is for a different age than mine. About those with many children - my 2 older children went to our 7-grade elementary school with a family that had 5 enrolled. I don't know if they had others to add to the total. The mother was just always at the school - I saw her more than any other mother although she didn't have any particular committee duties or anything. She was very cheerful. I'm sure she was exhausted. She was always carrying somebody's papers or lunch bag or satchel.

Agggghhhhh!

7 days of school.....LO has done it without a tear. All smiles. Day 8 he busted into tears on the way into school building and cried for the next 10 minutes. He kept his arms wrapped around my leg or my neck and begged to come home with me. One of the teacher aides was finally able to get LO to go with her to feed the fish. As I left the classroom, LO tearfully told me he would see me at the tree (where I wait for him outside the school building) after school.

I stood outside the classroom where LO couldn't see me for another 10 minutes waiting to see if he kept it together. Another Mom looked into the classroom for me and told me LO wasn't crying anymore.

However, now I'm the one crying.

OH Dear! This is hard. I remember leaving DSon once when he was crying......35 years ago! I don't like this type experience/memory at all!!
