Good morning!
Well, ds is moved in! We only had 30 minutes to unload and unpack, which was pretty tight. I brought the suitcases and bin back home with me so he had to be unpacked in that window of time. Fortunately, ds doesn't have a ton of clothes or stuff. I was surprised at the number of books he had packed!! --Not school books, fiction books to read for fun. When I left, he, dfriend, and roommate were working on lofting his bed. This makes more space in the room; the roommate's bed is also lofted. They're thinking of maybe buying a couch so visitors will have a place to sit. His dorm is a very pretty ivy-covered old brick building, and the inside has recently been renovated, all wood floors in the dorm rooms. There's a decent amount of storage too.
5x5:
1. Get ds' thank yous in the email. He wrote them -- but didn't address the envelopes. Grr.....
2. Get a handle on the album of photos of ds
3. Exercise! --This may need to happen after 5 when it is cooler. OTOH, I need to make it a priority b/c it did not happen yesterday.
4. Initial tidy of ds' room
5. Work in yard - some weeding and trimming.
Next for me:
-put away suitcases and bin (i need to repack the camping supplies which I had emptied out of the bin)
-reclaim kitchen
-devo. time

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
I like Booksaver's points too! I haven't been following the issue carefully, but I like her looking out for you and your physical and mental health, Dee! Yeah, family dynamics can be so tricky sometimes.

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
I'm declaring a BREAK TIME!! Just refilled my water bottle for the third time this morning and going to sip on my 2nd cup of coffee .....while setting my timer for 15 minutes
Just spent 1.5 hours corralling LO & classmates in bright sunshine while they walked from one hands-on farm/pioneer type exhibit to another. It will be over 100 degrees later today but was only in the low 90's during our field trip. Corralling is the proper term to use because at one point I was standing with arms stretched out to keep the little ones the proper distance away from a nervous mule that was not used to a slew of little ones approaching him from wrong direction all at the same time. The mule did settle down and let the children pet him, but most of the kids didn't know to stay proper distance away from the hind legs so they wouldn't be kicked.
When the timer goes off, I will get started on the closet cleanse project

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
I'm home to get DH to help me put the fabric on the bolster. It is like a pillow 6 ft long X 15 inches high X 6 inches deep. The fabric has to be tight to look right so it is hard to get on.

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
Good luck with that bolster, MT. Sounds very interesting!
Well, so much for my prior 5x5 -I've done everything BUT!
So here's these 5x5:
1. Take stove apart & clean thoroughly
2. Move and rearrange small bookcase
3. Clean off top of 'candle' stand
4. Clean off end of counter thoroughly
5. Clean sinks -with cleaner & do drains
Am still leaving up the other 5 since that's what I really wanted to get done today.

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
I'm done nothing so Dee's ahead of me.
I am showered. My hair is still damp but I'm dressed too.
I'm off to bed. Haven't had lunch yet but need a nap first.

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
Ex. = pounding, scraping with crow bar, & slede hammer and moving concrete chunks that were over spill from the patio expansion pour project great for arms! Walked pushing dgd in stroller for one mi. also done!
We've decided not to do any more outside stuff as dgd is in summer wear and it's like fall outside today she said she was cold. I did not have the blanket on the stroller as it's been so long since we've needed one.
Kitchen still needs attn.
I picked up apples in the yard.
I've put away tools after I used 'em.

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
You're usually way ahead of me (even ill), Kathryn. I'm just on a roll today and it FEELS GOOD! I'm getting lots of odds and ends done that are easy to neglect. In the process I'm changing things around (not too much room in here for that so any change feels good as well). One thing has simply led to another.
Going to try cooking a couple of hot dogs in a new type microwave cooker that we got at C World the other night. If I'd been really thinking I would have asked for a new fridge -one with a freezer on the bottom (so I could rearrange things in it -have to have dh do that for me in this one.) Nothing wrong with it but I could have probably asked for a new one and then sold this one -full house size.

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
Definitely heard BookSaver sounding a little like both Kathryn and Emptynester.
Direct - that was one of the compliments dd32 received yesterday from her supervisor during a hard meeting in which another employee roundly criticized her. Other employee is still angry because dd was made lead faculty trainer instead of her, and she just can't get over it despite dd's Masters and experience as obvious reasons. It's causing all kinds of problems. Lynlee, thank you for what you said yesterday using my dmother's quote because when I saw that this a.m. I realized dd needs to hear it again, and I immediately sent it to her as encouragement. She is having to bite her tongue a lot in this situation and let her supervisor say what needs to be said, and is privately upset, talked it out with me by phone yesterday.
How ideal, helia. A place to get the best out of the college experience. All good wishes to your ds.
I finished Desk Day for my ddad through to mailbox. Had finished ours Tues.
Still feeling so very sleepy through the days. I went to bed at 9:30 last night I think, and of course arose at 6, although in honestly I was holding the alarm waiting for it when it went off. I can't figure out if I'm maybe not resting well, or if this is like "jet lag" (which you would think would be over by now) or... .... if maybe my thyroid is no longer balanced. A little worried about that, because I know a sign is tiredness. Harmony, I thought of this for you, too.

Re: TIMER THURSDAY
I was also going to ask Harmony if the Dr didn't listen to your heart or take your BP, are not heart issue(s) still in question?
I tried hot dogs in the new microwave cooker. DH pronounced, "this is the way to do them!" Mine is quite tasty as well. Whew -always a bit apprehensive trying something new like this.
As I sat at the table, I noticed (after I had removed everything from the hutch) that I could now see dust UNDER the microwave. So, he lifted it for me so I could swipe under it with the dish cloth. Does that mean the rest of that counter was equally dusty?
We get an unimagineable amount of dust in here. All the roads are dirt and there's a field behind the berm. There's also lots of dirt piles, that they access often, behind us. Obviously an RV is not airtight as a house might be. All our appliance, coffee maker, sinks, stove, microwave, etc are black so they really show the dust. The counters are a brown something. I like the counters a lot!
