Hard to believe but here it is September -ALREADY! Are you on the "Holiday Grand Plan"? Has that started?

I'm so glad we are ridiculous and think differently than most people, it leaves us with fewer regrets in life.

I remember you making that side trip (or did you go to two places? I seem to remember you coming to Ithaca that time too). At any rate, you are so right. DD and I were driving up through NC and I had mentioned I'd like to stop and see Harriet, but was vascillating. Finally dd said, "Mom, if you side track to see her you'll never regret it. But if you don't, you may regret it later." I have never regretted stopping that day and often think of that meeting with fond memories. Harriet and dd14 are so delightful. Am sad for you about your dfriend btw.

Think my focus today will be sorting through pile I have by our table and finding a home for these things (that I like readily available). These are 'desk' type things.

Have to get groceries at some point. At least I've decided on menu for next Fri and Sat. Winter beef stew (always think of Indiana when I make this!) for Fri and homemade spaghetti on Sat. Sunday evening we're having a picnic at DS-A's and have to decide on things for that other than pulled pork. Told ddil we'd bring all the food, so need to think that through.

I've made the bed, taken meds and am sipping coffee. Need to get moving and do something. Have to think about what things I will put on my 5x5 for today. Love the way things are coming together.

Dee: this is the friend that lives in Ithaca. It is actually her husband who is our friend (and dh's mentor) but we've got to know her over the years as well. They are good people who give back to their community (she is a nurse who did both teaching at the college as well as working at a free clinic in town, he works hard on sustainability projects, trying to get people off oil.) He's been working towards retirement but seems stuck in semi-retirement (which suits dh and I fine because we have more contact with him!) Now, I regret that they never had their retirement years together.

I'm up after an awfully rough night. The headache wouldn't quit although I think it might be gone now. My back is achy, perhaps from lying in bed too much over the past while.

I'm just doing my computer stuff before getting up for the day since that worked well yesterday. Then I'll shower and get dressed.

Today's focus is laundry. There are 4 loads to be done. The first is finished now (I had it on time delay start) and ready to hang outside. It is windy and sunny so the perfect day for laundry.

Rather thought that's who it was, Kathryn. Will hold you and them in my thoughts and prayers. So glad for you that you made that extra trip this summer. (Ithaca is where dh was born -probably have told you that before). Lots of 'kids' from our school went to college in Ithaca -wasn't that far from my hometown. DH spent most of his 'growing up' years in Newfield -stone's throw from Ithaca).

Sunny here too. Just a little breezy right now. Hit 93 here yesterday but not supposed to be that warm from here on in.

Need to remember to read my electric meter today. Been trying to keep tabs on it better this year. Our electric is paid around the end of October for the year. Last year it was about $300 more than it had been in years past. Of course this is a larger RV and has high ceilings -plus there are 2 AC units. Last year I know we were not careful with the running of those. This year we run the AC in the living area during the day (when needed) and close the bedroom door. At night we reverse it & use only the bedroom AC (with the door closed). THink it has made quite a difference in our usage. The rate changes monthly so dcampowner averages it out at the end of the year and we're charged the average cost per killowat. Usually .14-.16 per kwh.

Cooked scrambled eggs w/real bacon pieces & cheese for breakfast. Cooked in my new micro pan -worked pretty well, but think I have to tweak it just a bit. I'm loving that pan and the clean-up is so EASY!

dh and the girls are safely home! I made sure the house was clean before they got here, and dh has seemed to appreciate that. It sounds like the trip was good, some family time, some down time in the summer house, some sightseeing. Dh took the girls to see the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam and Corrie ten Boom's house in Haarlem, and they enjoyed the visits. Dh had given the girls, including dd16's friend, the assignment of reading The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom before they went on this trip. Of course, dd16 had read that book on her own a while ago. All 3 had already read The Diary of Anne Frank in school. He said they had Anne's diaries out and he could read bits of them. She had written in Dutch (dh can read OK in German but apparently no need in this case). I was surprised as I had thought she was German, but dh said she went to NL early enough that she probably learned to speak and write well in Dutch.

Today: lots of laundry, some back to school shopping with the girls. I need to go take care of friends' dog Hank first.

BTW, The Hiding Place is an amazing story about a Christian family, the ten Booms, who hid Jews in their home during WWII and eventually were arrested and sent off to camps. . . . The book ends with an amazing incident of forgiveness by Corrie.

Last night got a back yard poultry mag. and got some good info. out of it that I could actually use!

H. is sort of on call can't plan any thing ~sigh~ dgkids will be here in a bit so I need to get it in gear. I have too much planned for today that we could do but might be working on the coop as dgson wanted to help with that project and this would be a great day for it!

Helia - glad your DFamily made it home safely and have made good memories.

Before LO woke up this morning I worked on sorting & organizing the STUFF from the hall closet. I had piled it all in the living room because it has wide open spaces and I needed room to sort. That gave me great motivation to get it done. Since the living room cleanse, I have "drawn a line in the sand" with keeping clutter out of the living room. I'm going to do my best to keep each area maintained as I finish cleansing them.

Progress report of hallway closet cleanse -
** FOUR 50 gallon size bags filled and ready to go to GW
** quilts & throws used to cover up during cold weather have been relocated and are now displayed on quilt rack in living room.
** all linens are organized and contained in a large plastic tub
** all items that are regularly charged are gathered (will need to paint before I can organized & set them up)
** all games & puzzles are gathered and neatly organized (approx 20 of them)
** two shelves are EMPTY and waiting for decision on what to store in them
Next up is painting the closet but can't do that while doing LO care. So I'll take a break from working on that closet and hopefully I can paint while he naps after lunch.
