SILENT SUNDAY

I guess it's "silent" -it's 10:25 and no one is here yet? I figured there'd be several posts by the time I got here. Got up VERY late and too late to get ready for church. For some reason (after I figured out what it was) the smoke alarm started chirping randomly. Sometimes it was 5, 10, 12, 15 minutes. That was 2:30 & at 4:30 I came out to the recliner & closed the bedroom door. I only hard it once or twice after that and fell asleep (hard!). Woke up at 9:02. The alarm has been strangely 'silent' since then. I thought it was hard wired, but evidently probably battery operated. DH will have to get a step ladder to check it out later. Ceilings are too high for our step stool.

May it be a day of enjoyment for all of you. There's a clambake here today. DH ordered 4 dozen for himself I think. He's cooking salt potatoes so don't expect to see much of him today. They're starting early -1p.m. -at least earlier than in the past.

I have spent the last 45 minutes searching for a site like this... I used to be a member of several sites like this many years ago but got out of the habit and now want to reclaim my life.

Your smoke Alarm probably has a battery back-up which needs replaced and is why it is chirping. HTH.

Okay so I got up at 9:30 to make sure that DS19 was up and getting ready for work (he just left) and to get busy with my day. My goal for today is to ultimately reclaim my life. The sad thing is that I lost control of it many years ago and have spent most of my time at home acting like a slug. I can keep it together at work but when I get home I take up residency on my chair and that is where I stay.

So here goes, my goals for today in no specific order;
Put up all my clothes (two hampers full)
Gather and run laundry
Get DS13 ready for school on Tuesday
Take DS13 to get new shoes for school
Grocery shopping
School work
Shower & Dressed
Unpack from vacation (been home a week )

I am sure there is more but I think that is a good start.
Gonna post and head up to the shower... be back in 30 minutes.

Scattered, good to see you! It's unusually quiet here today, but usually there's a few more 'chirping' in. Do come post often. You'll find this to be a very welcoming village (as we like to call it). I have sent you a PM -you'll see a spot at the top of the page which says "1 new message". Simply click on that.

DH said he'd get a step ladder at some point (not right away). thankfully the smoke alarm is 'silent' for now. I'm sure it is a battery 'back-up'. May be hard wired for the most part -everything else is and we had thought that was too. But you may be right -it may use batteries for back-up. We've had this park model for one year now, so batteries would be run down by now I'm assuming. We have very high ceilings so our step stool won't do it.

Dfriend just came to visit for a while. Seemed nice to have our place 'company-ready' -no C.H.A.O.S. here right now (can't have anyone over syndrome). Actually feeling pretty good about our home right now.

I've always aspired to be more like our dIndiana. She was a shining example.

Had rough night with a headache keeping me up for hours. It finally left during prayers at church.

Today's to-do list is short as you can see. I had a pile of 'things' on 1 chair by the table and it's looked like a 'daunting' task, so will do it 1 THING AT A TIME!

DeeClutter - thanks for the PM, I am very sorry to hear about Indiana, my condolences to everyone here and to her DFamily. Question, what is 5x5?

Okay so it took a little longer than 30 but I did get 1 bag unpacked. DS13 decided that since I was taking a shower he should too, so now we are both showered and dressed. The errand part of my list will have to wait until after 4:30 when DS19 gets home from work since he took my car... I didn't tell him I needed to go out. I think I will hit the laundry room next and see what is waiting for me, major fear here since it has been almost 3 weeks since I have been in there Hmmm quess I should explain DS13 and I were on vacation for 10 days and then I came home sick... as I said been home for a week now, so the Laundry room has been the domain of DS19.

So here goes, my goals for today in no specific order;

Check in:
Yesterday was a low energy day due to the few days of marathon sewing and very little sleep. I had planned to sleep late, but that didn't work out. DH and I were out & about, so no opportunity for napping. The cats have food now, though, which was a higher priority than sleep!

We stopped at a used book store to see what they had in their big Labor Day Weekend sale. Managed to find 4 books that have been on my wish list for about a year, and then I stopped looking because they didn't have any carts and I was too tired to be in the mood for shopping.

DH drove home through winding back roads with very pretty farm views. That was refreshing.

Today's priorities:
* laundry -- 2 loads to stay caught up
* mail
* newspapers
* NAP
* sewing project approximately 1 hour
* declutter in my office, which is a mess of epic proportions

As I mentioned in AC&N forum, September is National Sewing Month. I have set a goal for myself to follow Nancy's lead and do something creative each and every day in September. My usual procedure for sewing projects is to marathon to meet a deadline. I'm looking forward to using our SHE tried & true approach of dividing large projects into small sections, to do a little each day.

I did manage my 5x5 well before 5. II still have to sort and rearrange my card file. Haven't used it as much the past few days, but I'll be back to it this week.

Me too, Booksaver. I did just about NOTHING yesterday. Luckily the RV stayed quite picked up and clean. Of course I have to battle the 'messie' to keep it that way. But I'll get him trained yet. His shoes were accumulating behind the counter again, so put those away this morning. He'll laugh!

Have green peppers to cook up and I may try them in my new micro pan & see what happens. They're out of dh's garden on the other side of our berm, so at least they're almost 'free'. Picked up a pepper corer (supposed to take out the top & seeds in one motion (we'll see) when we were at Vidler's last week.

Dneighbor across the street mentioned to dh they'd like to go back to Hidden Valley in October when the leaves change and have dinner there. Guess we're going to go with them. (We stopped there for lunch on our way back from Vidler's.) They also have a good sized animal farm -kangaroos, zebras, buffalo, etc. We plan to take the ride for that.
