Welcome, scattered. Were you ever on a site with any of us, do you think? Perhaps with a "handle" name we might remember? 5x5 is the concept of writing down 5 things to accomplish by 5:00 p.m. , and a 3x5 card is a great place to write them!

Dd14 attended SS. I did not attempt because, like Kathryn, my sleep was very much disturbed. I ended up at 4:00 a.m. working in the kitchen, even. HRH let me sleep in and brought take-out biscuits for the family, which was a great help.

Back here at home, I did go ahead and get my exercise in for 30 mins.

Sunday morning calm was interrupted by a terse call from ds27 to HRH. The lobbying to get him to switch back to full time with his former fire dept (where he continues pt) has come to a head. The friend he had considered going to Iraq with returned after his 4-year time stint and re-assumed his position. But with his new skills and experience, he was courted by Los Angeles. So the dept's percentage of firefighters with certain levels of training will lower again and the Chief has called on the municipality to make the offer to ds almost too good to turn down, to avoid the expense and time of a new hiring process. Ds is heartsick to even think of leaving his current dept, plus it is much more respected and admired. But he has a family to support, and a career to think about. So he is very torn today.

OMG!!! I found a hamper in the room adjacent to the Laundry room and thought it was a load of clean that hadn't been folded... did a full nose whiff check to make sure and... obviously not clean DS clothing!!! I know boys stink but I about fainted!!!

So DS13 has figured out that we are going to be cleaning most of the day... he is not happy about that and is now asking when DS19 will be home so we can go run our errands.

So here goes, my goals for today in no specific order;
Put up all my clothes (two hampers full) 1 done, 1.5 togo
Gather and run laundry
Get DS13 ready for school on Tuesday
Take DS13 to get new shoes for school
Grocery shopping
School work
Shower & Dressed
Unpack from vacation (been home a week )

Welcome to our Village Scattered!

I'm guilty of sleeping in this morning. It was almost 10 am; I haven't done that for a long time, but I guess I needed it! Dh was first up, as always, then me, then the Three Sisters!

Ddil#3 and dsisters just left to be with their ddad. They have been helping him with things around the house and ddil told me that today they are taking care of dsmom's clothes and personal things as he didn't want to do that.

Some things for this afternoon....
1. wash lunch dishes
2. vacuum carpet in lr, dr, hall
3. laundry - tea towels
4. ready trash for p/up tomorrow (not sure if they p/up on Labor Day)
5. take a ride to the mall for a walk

Okay so I forgot how tiring cleaning can be... it's good but yuck. DS13 is not enjoying it either...

Got the 2nd and fullest hamper sorted now I have piles on the bed that need hung/put away... baby steps right?
Thinking about getting my haircut while we are out, DS13 got his cut while we were on vacation and I cut DS19's hair Friday... so now it is my turn and I have a coupon. Need to check the sales flyers and get my grocery list together also need to flip the LOL's

Oh well, scattered you were sweet to immediately answer my half-thought. And even though we haven't crossed paths before, I'm very glad to meet you now and hope you post often. My younger daughter is barely older than your son, I believe - she just had her 14th bday and is one of the youngest in her 9th grade class. We have several in the village here with similar-age children, but they are mostly girls. Sadie has so many (delightful) boys that I'm sure one will be about your older son's age!

VDFriend called this morning and asked me to stop by at her home on the way to church. She has been researching children church curriculum and selected one. She wasn't able to attend church this morning so I picked up and delivered samples of her choice curriculum. Looks good to me!

Church was good this morning. Although, attendance was down a little. I heard several comments that makes me think the weather is a big factor in that. People are tired of 100+ degrees.

After church we ate at local cafe. We sat with 8 friends at a big table and was able to catch up a bit.

Did MPB minimum chores on the way home.

Ok, Lilac. This is a ceramic covered grill pan (thee's also a 'cook' pan) and I've cooked sausage, hot dogs, scrambled eggs w/bacon & cheese, and the peppers so far. It's a bit on the 'pricey' side but we had gift certificates. I'm sure I'll get the money's worth out of it. Especially in the RV but it would work in a home microwave as well. I just don't have the mess or clean up involved. I like that. Got it at C amp ing W orld -it's only 8 miles from us. I may go back and get the cook pan with other gift certificates. More than I usually would spend on cookware, but even dh likes this one!

Back from trip to visit with DS and family. Last time this summer. DGD#6 didn't want me to leave. We have never lived around her (she was born after we sold the house) and only see her once a years. So this is a big plus. (Maybe she heard me tell her father (my DS) not to be so hard on her.)

Anyway, we are back at the MH. (Note to Scattered - we retired in 2003 and moved into an RV and have traveled all over the US since then. We bought a small manufactured home in a retirement community in AZ last fall. Originally from SD but retired out of IL)

Plans for the next two days - Wash windows in and out on the MH, make 4+ pillows for the daybed in the Volunteer Sewing Room, put away trailer ooze and be ready for the road on Tuesday. Probably should do a load of laundry one of these days, too but it could wait until I get to my DD#1's house on Tuesday.

Right now I have to find something for dinner. Not much of a choice here but we did pick up bread and ham at the grocery store.
